History

Established in 1982.

DeBoer’s Auto, Inc. was established by Bill DeBoer Sr. The shop was originally located in Newton, NJ and started off as a used car dealership & body shop. Prior to opening his own business, Bill Sr. worked for 13 years at the Ford Mahwah plant assembling cars. In 1985, Bill and his wife Rita purchased the current location in Hamburg and have been serving the community there ever since. In 1997, Bill was joined by his son Bill DeBoer Jr. who had recently graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a BS in Management. Bill Jr. found enjoyment in auto repair, and so it was decided to expand the business into a repair facility. In recent years, the building has undergone renovations, and the vehicle repair equipment has been upgraded with the latest technology to enhance the shop’s facilities. The company is constantly in the process of updating equipment, expanding services and training personnel to meet current and future customer requirements.

Business Owner

William DeBoer (Bill Sr.) is the founder of DeBoer’s Auto, Inc. and carries the title of President. He immigrated to America from Holland with his parents at the age of two. He grew up being fascinated by cars which led him to the pastime of drag racing and a career assembling cars for 13 years at Ford Motor Company. After the closing of the assembly plant and turning down options to relocate, Bill Sr. started DeBoer’s Auto in Newton, NJ. It was originally opened as a body shop/independent car dealer. After three successful years, Bill Sr. made the decision to buy his own business in Hamburg, NJ. He wanted to continue selling used cars and trucks while discontinuing the body shop. Bill Sr. is an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and has volunteered in that capacity on the Wantage Township first aid squad for over 13 years. He also was awarded the Paul Harris Award by Rotary International.
