Specialties
I’m a psychiatric clinical nurse specialist with expertise in women’s mental health issues. Using «talk therapy,» (without prescribing medications), I help individuals, couples and families with issues that are keeping them from having the best life they want for themselves. I specialize in life transitions, relationships, stress and coping, anxiety, and depression. Postpartum depression/anxiety is my particular area of interest.
History
Established in 1997.
After graduation from the master’s program in child/adol. psych nursing at the University of Pa. in 1983, I knew it would only be a matter of time until I established my own psychotherapy practice. It took a little longer than expected, as I became a new mom a few months later! Right away, I gained a new (and personal) understanding of women’s mental health issues. I knew that it was not easy to balance the roles and responsibilities that came with being a mom, a partner, a daughter, and a professional with a career. The pressure was intense! Thank goodness, I was always able to keep my eyes on the «light at the end of the tunnel!» I knew that what I wanted to do as a nurse with years of experience in psych was to help other women. I empathized with their struggles. I could care for them the best way I knew how, from a holistic perspective, by talking, caring, and sharing — without offering pills as a «quick fix.»

Thank you for reading this!
I was born in Philadelphia, Pa. and am a graduate of two top nursing schools — University of Miami (BSN ’78) and the University of Pennsylvania (MSN ’83). I lived and worked as an RN in Toronto, Canada for 22 years before returning to the US.
I’m a warm and compassionate advanced practice registered nurse (APRN), with more than 35 years experience in psychiatry and mental health. I’ve worked in many roles in a variety of settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and home care. I’ve also taught nursing at the university level. I treat all of my clients in the exact same way as I would want a member of my own family treated, with kindness and understanding — if they had to see a therapist.
I’ve also been fortunate enough to travel abroad to many places and work as an English teacher in Japan. This has certainly expanded and enriched my world view and increased my understanding of women’s issues outside of North America.
