Pelican Point RV Park

This incident happened awhile ago but I feel I should post what happened to me at Pelican Point RV park. I went to drop some groceries off to a sick friend. I got confused as to where her space was so I called her to tell her I was confused. Within one minute of parking this large loud obnoxious gorilla came marching towards me screaming «What the f@*k are you doing in MY PARK!!» My friend showed up and told him that I was just dropping something off to her. He said «You better get this mot@erfu@ker off MY PROPERTY NOW!!» She said he is leaving now. He said «He better or I’m calling the police!!“I had NO idea what I did wrong, I had never met the man before and I was very upset by this encounter. I did file a report with the police to record his abusive behavior that had no cause. There is seriously something wrong with the manager Gary Hodge. I truly believe he has a mental disorder and should not be dealing with the public. Not only does it give the park a bad name but the whole community. The owner must be hands off and not aware of the situation because if he had any brains at all he would have fired him a long time ago.

We have been coming here for years. Always have had a great time. I’ve known the manager for years and has always wanted friendly. The office help is so rude. Booked a space on the point where we usually stay. When we arrived we were told that it was closed due to bad electrical power and were put elsewhere. They charged for every little thing. We were then told the point was for units larger than ours. We’ll have to contemplate if we will be back. Since our last visit no improvement or upkeep or upgrades have been done.

I was greeted with a stern face asking me, «Do you have a reservation?» as I walked through the door. Even if I had a reservation I would have left. Park looks like a parking lot, pretty gross overall.

My husband and I were on our last night of a wonderful two week rv vacation. Since it was around the July 4^th holiday, we had problems some nights finding an rv space. As we pulled into Pelican Point about 6:00 pm we were pleased to see about 5 empty spots right next to the office. When we inquired inside the young man said yes, they had availability. We told him we had a class B Sprinter van which is 21 feet. We asked about staying in the spots near the office, but he said those were only for 35 ft rigs. We told him we would be happy to pay the extra charge for the larger site. He said that was against the Rules!
He then looked for another site and told us there were now none available! We again asked about the empty 35 ft sites, and all of a sudden he remembers that an RV club is coming in and those are reserved. Really?
We then walk back by in the morning and notice all the same spots are still empty. My husband goes in to the office to ask about that, and was told by a very rude woman at the front desk that indeed those spots are only for 35 ft rigs, and knew nothing about the RV club. When he told her we had had trouble finding a spot for the previous night and couldn’t understand why they would let a spot sit vacant instead of putting a smaller rig there, her reply was «It’s the owner’s feeling that ‘Your poor planning is not our emergency’»!!
Hard to believe anyone in the service business could be so rude.
We concur with all the other bad reviews here — don’t stay here!

We just bought a new used trailer, our first. I love half moon bay and couldn’t pick a better place for our first time RV owners. Neighbors were wonderful. Met a dog named Buddy. Sweetest thing!!! I will come as many times as I can if reservations are available. Very close to a great beach.

RUDE, RUDE, RUDE!!! Unfortunately, won’t be coming back to this place. The stories about management are so true. We had heard about them for several years. Had come in past, but usually stayed one or two nights and stayed quiet as we went for walks on beach, downtown, etc. we hadn’t been here in a few years and noticed several new, very narrow, RV cement pads. The tires just fit. God forbid there’s an earthquake or cracks begin to develop because your tires will get shredded. We also noticed, the uneven ground. Don’t break your neck walking out of your RV. See attached picture. My husband also fell trying to put our car dolly behind RV, by the fence (uneven ground). Thank goodness it didn’t go over, down the hill and hit other RV’s. The curdled cream, in this very old coffee was when we had to leave. We decided to leave about an hour early. no one was parked to our left… Two or three RV sites only. My husband needed to move our car because it was parked in front of dolly. He moved the car to the next, empty RV pad. As soon as he gets out of the car, the woman manager comes out to tell him he can’t park the car there. He tells her we are only moving it out of the way so we can pull the dolly out since we will be leaving momentarily. She insists we move it or she will call a towing co. to do so. Of course my husband got pissed off and reminded her we were leaving and needed a few min. Check in for other vehicles was not for another hour. She stormed away saying she would call the towing truck service. Needless to say, when we pulled the RV out of our spot (I parked our car there), our RV still blocked those empty sites. We hooked our dolly and if I didn’t have to use our car, I would have relished taking our time to load the car on the dolly as well. After all, we still had an hour before checkout. These people are crazy and on some kind of power trip! DO NOT BOTHER COMING HERE!

I’m never for rules. But I tried. Hated it and letting you know. Washing cost: $ 2, dryer cost: $ 2, wi-​fi cost: $ 5 (daily), all the NO signs irked me. Sadly here for three days. Weekend representatives are okay, they tried. Weekdays host, was horrible.

This park I really had high hopes for, but when you are in your space, your neighbor parks in front of your picnic table right outside your RV door

My vehicle cause I’m in a fifth wheel and parked our truck on other side of trailer but then our neighbors parking ace is in front of our front door next to table
I asked office if I could park there cause I’d rather look at my truck instead of someone else’s if it has to be in my face but they said no, that it isn’t my spot to park
Im disappointed because I’m here for 3 days and my husband said well just stay busy and not hang out
I’d rather leave but we drove ⁶¹⁄₂ hours to get here

At 62 I am winding down my involvement in my company in Livermore CA. I still need to be around the the business part time but wanted a hide away for myself, Pelican Point is the place! Gary, Becky, Tamara and the rest run this place with the upmost concern for all of the folks that enjoy the park. It’s not easy to please everyone all off the time, but they do a fine job protecting the peace and quite that a place on the coast should have.

Nothing really special as far as the RV Park goes. It poured rain on us while we’re here. Obviously not the parks fault but it prevented us getting out to experience the park and surrounding areas. They do seem to be pretty proud of their rules which are posted EVERYWHERE. The brief interaction with the staff was pleasant. The over-​posting of the rules is a bit of a turn off.

This is an average but adequate RV park. We only stayed here for 1 night, as we were passing through town. The park was clean and quiet. We used the laundry facilities which were small but adequate. The only thing I noticed that was a bit of a turn off was all of the signage about what NOT to do in the park. Seemed a bit overkill and unwelcoming. Most parks will list their rules in the handout they give you when you check in. This is a better way to communicate these things, in my opinion.

I pride myself in being well traveled and I was let down by the management as well as the pretentious residents. I must note that many people are residents and not vacationing. My family and I were greeted by the managers wonderful daughter and it was all downhill from there. I arrived late and left for dinner. Upon returning I turned off my lights allowing only my daytime runners to illuminate my path back to our pad. As I connected H2O and grey I was rudely interrupted by the male manager who insisted that my running lights were shining into his house and waking everyone up in the park. He insisted that he maintains very strict rules. I asked him what I should do. He immediately started to ramblel what sounded like excuses as to why he is such a control freak. We were present only a few moments before he came to harass us. No greeting, no hello how are you… He insisted that he had multiple complaints… As previously noted I travel, fly, fish, sail, etc. I have been across the states and back. Mingled with the rich and the poor. Backpacked through Europe. I have mingled among many different social groups and never have I expierienced such rude, pretentious, and an outright snobbish environment. RVers beware. Dealing with the micromanagement was nothing compared to the people living/​staying here. People are supposed to enjoy themselves while camping/​RVing. This is not camping/​RVing, you might as well be down at the 55+ trailer park. Don’t waste your time here. Reserve yourself a spot where people enjoy your company and your money is appreciated.

There is nothing wrong with Pelican Point. So they have some rules. Who cares. This place is quite and clean. We will be back.

Very basic RV Park, however fantastic location for beach. walks, Half Moon Bay and golf. We stayed here as it was half an hours drive to SF and Airport. The staff were friendly, we would stay there again.

I see this campsite has one other review, I am not sure why it is filtered? I agree with the one and only review. This is a nice place, but I will never stay here again or recommend this campsite due to the manager (s).
We paid to stay at this campground as guests for 2 nights on May 31 and June 1 2013. We were treated very poorly by the management staff. They have strict rules and are very hostile about them. I have no problem with rules, but I do have a problem with the hostility. For example, you must leave the premises at 1:00, when we asked to stay just a few minutes late the reply was not a nice no. Then when I raced to use the bathroom approx 8 minutes prior to 1:00, the bathroom is closed from 12 – 2. I thought I possibly could wait patiently to use the restroom in a brief moment because Becky (manager) said the floor was almost dry… as I waited rudely the daughter of the manager said I cant use it because it is closed until 2 in a very rude manner.
When I wanted to simply state that I would not recommend this campsite to anyone… I was abruptly cut off by Gary (manager) and he did not want to hear me speak… he yelled at me and explained their was poop on the walls (he used the sh*t word). Red flag to me… someone else must be upset with him, why would anyone do this to the bathroom? As he kept yelling at me and my son, I walked away… he kept yelling so I flipped him off… maybe not the right action to take, but I am on my holiday trying to enjoy a trip with friends and I am tired of his hostility… he followed me in a golf cart yelling at me as I walked all the way back to my campsite– this is harassment. He also threatened me and said he would call the police and I needed to leave the premises right then (which I was gladly doing anyway). He also yelled at my son– and called him a «little boy» which led me to believe he was actually picking a fight with us?
Glad to leave this site and never return! I have stayed at Pillar Point just down the highway a number of times and love their campsite and hospitality!
