I use to frequent this place weekly until the new ownership took over. I waited for 25 minutes for a simple sandwich and the bread was not fresh like it use to be. The old owner use to have fresh bread, fresh lunch meat and was always friendly. My first meeting with the new ownership was very not very pleasant. I had asked where the previous owner was, and with a unpleasant tone he said that he was the new owner. My wife went a few days later with a girlfriend of hers and was treated as if she was not even there. It took a while before being noticed, and when thye were finally noticed by the workers behind the counter they did not have a good vibe. The food was not good, and again the service was lousy. Its sad that the old owner moved on to a new venture. Although he was young, he had a good head on his shoulders was was very pleasant to talk to.

First off, I think this is the same place I went to that’s in the shopping center, that serves sandwiches. It had a different name when I went there though. I waited a little over 10 minutes for my pizza crunch which was pretty tasty. It’s basically like a home made style pepperoni pizza. My boyfriend ordered a club bob, and it was MASSIVE. He loved it. Personally, I found the staff to be friendly. There was an older guy working there who had character. It looked like they may have been doing some remodeling so I’d be curious to see what else they might put on the menu or what changes they make in the coming months. The pizza was good and I might go back to try other items on the menu. My boyfriend likes surfing and we go out to that area quite often. Again, I’m not really sure if this is the same place. The sign didn’t say Lighthouse Deli. It sounds like they might have changed owernship or something along those lines.

I created a profile JUST to complain about this place. If you are type of person who likes to wait 40 minutes to receive a cold sandwich with soggy bread, fatty bacon, and less than original toppings, feel free, my friend, to venture to this deli that is tucked away in a strip mall in Half Moon Bay. It was a cold yet beautiful Sunday afternoon. My roommates and I were recovering from the night before and had failed to eat any breakfast before we went to HMB to cut down a Christmas Tree. Since it took two hours to find a decent tree, you can imagine how STARVED we were by the time we got to this deli around 3pm. We walked in– the two people behind the counter never looked up to acknowledge our presence, and there was an awkward moment as we waited under the harsh fluorescent lights and stark silence of this deli that lacked ANY sense of atmosphere. The menu was extensive, and notwithstanding the meek atmosphere, the potential was definitely there for this to be a mom ‘n pop gem of a sandwich shop. I ordered a tuna melt. My roommates ordered a ranch chicken with bacon sandwich, and some other chicken thing or other. My tuna melt arrived after 15 minutes. I firmly believe in waiting for other peoples’ food to arrive before digging in, but after 10 minutes of waiting, my roommates insisted that i eat. By this time, the sandwich was cold and soggy. But I was desperate and ate it anyway. I would give that tuna melt 1.5 stars out of 5. It was another 20 minutes before my roommates’ sandwiches arrived. Who knows what the hell they were doing behind those counters, if someone can explain to me why it takes upwards of 40 minutes to make a sandwich that is NOT toasted, has NO warm ingredients, and contains nothing out of the ordinary, then I would gratefully accept an explanation. The lady clearly put mustard and mayo at the beginning of the process, and after 40 minutes of soak time, the bread was a mushy as can be. All of this without ANY quality customer service. I like to support the little guy– I will always chose an indy deli from a Subway, but next time I am in that neighborhood, I will most definitely cross the strip mall lot(blech) and hit up whatever national chain is there.
