Coastside Inn

Booked a 2 night stay for a mini getaway. I did feel the price was a little costly for a motel (totaled almost $ 300), but it’s in a convenient location. Very close to tons of restaurants and beaches. The gal at check-​in was very friendly. I inquired about a sign that stated it was a non-​smoking premises even though the web description said that were designated smoking areas. She was kind enough to explain that there were smoking areas and showed me where they were. They just frown upon smoking right in front of the door to your room, which is understandable. We got a room right on the bottom floor with a King bed. The bed was very comfortable and the room was also equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee pot (but only supplied with decaf coffee). They do offer free continental breakfast every morning but we skipped that so I can’t comment on it. Besides the fact that the shower and sink did not drain properly, the room was comfortable. I’m pretty surprised we had no problems with hearing the road traffic since we were so close to a main road. Hardly heard a thing. Again, I do feel it was slightly over priced but it was a nice place to stay and I’m sure we will stay there again.

We stayed in the apartment suite with our family of five and it was perfect for us. There are two rooms, one with a queen bed and the bathroom is attached to that room. The other is a king bed. There’s is a living room with a foldout couch and a chaise. A decent sized kitchen and dining area as well. You could easily sleep six here and more if someone takes the chaise.
Under the flat screen TV there is a «fireplace» and that was a lovely touch. I loved having a full kitchen to properly wash our baby bottles and to be able to really freeze ice packs.
It is on the highway so you can hear the cars at night but I didn’t find that it hindered my sleep. It’s the king bed room that is on the street side.
The breakfast was ok — pancake machine, pastry, fruit (apples and oranges), oatmeal, sausage, and hard boiled eggs. The eggs were hard on one end. I like hard boiled eggs and had chosen three not realizing that one end on each was as hard as a rock. I don’t know if it was overbooked or old. Either way, I skipped the eggs. But the breakfast was decent otherwise.
I would absolutely stay in this very room again. It was great.

After enduring a freezing evening at the Francis Beach Campground we decided to abandon our tent for warmth. We weren’t picky and needed something fast and close. A quick call to the Coastside Inn greeted us with just that and so much more.
The friendly woman on the phone said they had a couple of rooms left and even offered an unexpected discount. She said just to come in if we decided to stay there and she would help us out. No pressure, just genuine unbidden kindness.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from the motel, but was pleasantly surprised to find the room and bathroom very clean and attractive. They even had a full continental breakfast in the morning with one of the best omelets I’ve ever had. Such an unexpected treat. It’s the little things that make a cold night especially warm and cozy. Thank you for your incredible hospitality!

We’ve stayed here many times, and probably will stay again, but our last visit was not up to par. We always stay in a 2^nd floor /​king bed room.
Pro: location, parking, price (for coastal lodging), can stay 1 night even on weekend, large rooms, easy to get king bed, front desk staff, breakfast (for partner)
Con: dirty bathroom, dirty surfaces, pathetic pillows, manager not friendly, breakfast (for me — too carb-​y, weak coffee)

Place: awesome, right at end of 92 near little restaurants and shops. decent décor
bad: little bit of toiletries, price. i even booked a month in advance and still pricey… maybe get room a couple of months to get better rate. some other things i can include but since it was first time here… i’ll give it a break
good: loved the breakfast meal included in rate though, nice staff
piece of advice: book REALLY early like how i mentioned above… it seems they get sold out fast

My friends and I wanted a getaway 4^th of July weekend, and Coastside Inn was the perfect place to go!
Check-​in is at 3 PM, but we were able to check in at around 2 PM. Our room (1 king bed) was on the first floor, and it was somewhat tight for 3 people. Fortunately we brought a twin-​size air mattress so that we could all sleep comfortably (I believe the hotel could provide a roll-​away bed, but for an additional cost).
My only complaints about our stay were that 1) we didn’t have a «Do Not Disturb» sign to hang on our door, and 2) the Wi-​Fi was pretty weak. While the first complaint may not seem like a big issue, it certainly became one when one of the housekeepers entered our room unexpectedly at 9:30 in the morning…
The hotel is in a good location; it’s about 0.5 miles from Francis Beach, and 0.5 miles from Main Street. We drove to the Mavericks Beach area, and it only took about 10 minutes (considering it was 4^th of July weekend, there were a lot of people on the road).
Overall, I would certainly stay at this hotel again!

Worst customer service ever! We were double charged for our stay and then the manager argued with us for almost two weeks before reimbursement.

The room was very clean and smelled fresh. Looked new or remodeled. Granite bath counter, microwave, fridge, and hairdryer. I was able to bring my dog for only $ 35 more. The continental breakfast was by far the best I’ve ever seen. You could make your own waffles and toast. Coffee, juice, cereals, eggs and sausage, donuts, fruit. Good Lord! And easy to find, located right on the Main Street. So grateful we found this place!!!

I stayed here for cumulatively over a month for work. Here’s the scoop:
Pro’s — Price is reasonable for the area
Breakfast is ok, except for the watery/​grainy eggs

Con’s — «pet friendly» hotel so some rooms smell like a wet dog
No ESPN or Fox News
Depending on which end of the hotel you’re in Wi-​Fi signal can be really weak

The Coastside Inn has everything you need for a reasonable price. My fiancée and I stayed there for a wedding weekend in the area of Half Moon Bay and found the place by using
. For only $ 98/​night we got a fairly comfortable bed, sturdy desk, wonderful full bathtub that was quite clean, a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and our own controlled heating/​A-​C unit. There was breakfast offered as well — not the most elaborate thing in the world but plenty of pastries, cereal options, coffee/​tea, and make-​your-​own waffles (my favorite). The staff was friendly and accommodating and it was nearby to what we needed (including a 7 – 11). Overall we would stay there next time if need be.

Nice place, great customer service and a good «buffet» style breakfast. Stayed in a king deluxe room with balcony. Spacious room and bathroom but only view was of hwy 1 and there was a good amount of road noise throughout the night. Only complaint is the room wasn’t very clean upon check in. Had to request that the fridge be cleaned — mold and the toilet was still dirty. The only tip for housekeeping is do a better job! Also, cobwebs on the ceiling above the bed but bed was comfortable. Great location for convenient access to beaches and local towns. We would stay here again.

Great litle motel, clean, free breakfast, walk to beach. No complaints would stay again!

Beware!!! I booked a room and then my husband came down sick. I called to cancel but was told that since I hadn’t given 48 hours notice I would be billed for the room unless I re-​booked within a certain time. I re-​booked for the following weekend. I was charged for the night we missed and for the night we stayed there. We added another night so i was charged for 3 nights when we stayed for 2. I have stayed here in the past but will not stay again. I have called and emailed to have this corrected and they have not responded.
Do not book here if there is any possibility that you may need to cancel… like with an illness, or you will pay.

In planning our trip from San Francisco to Monterey we knew we wanted to stop in Half Moon Bay for the night. Since we booked ahead we were able to get a good deal on one night at the Coastside Inn. The beds were moderately comfortable and it had cable tv but the free wireless internet was pretty spotty. Though it’s located along busy Route 1, it’s only a half-​mile walk from Half Moon Bay State Beach and these gorgeous cliffs that run along the Half Moon Bay Coastal Trail. The hotel is within driving distance from most of the town’s attractions (there’s not many, but definitely check out the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company). The continental breakfast was okay, nothing out of the ordinary. Overall, the Coastside Inn is a nice little hotel if you’re looking for a place to stay while traveling up or down the coast.

The rooms are small, but since we weren’t planning on doing anything except sleep there, it was more than adequate.
Staff is friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was actually very good. Hot food, good coffee, nice patio to eat on, if you don’t wanna eat in your room. Great way to wake up and start the day. Close to a quaint, cute little downtown area. Beach access very close. Decent about of tv channels, Wi-​Fi, etc.
All around nice place to stay, if you’re just looking for a comfy place to crash after a long day of activities.

Decent hotel, room was clean for mattress people the bed was a little hard for me, but actually one of the better continental breakfasts spread I’ve seen.
For 150 $ a night not a bad deal for the area it’s in.

My husband and I needed last minute accommodation for a wedding in Half Moon Bay. We didn’t want to spent $ 200+ for a hotel room. Coastside Inn was the closest and cheapest we could find in the area that had a room available at a short notice. However, at almost $ 150 a night (including taxes), it was still pricey for a motel… it’s a good thing they threw in free breakfast :)
We didn’t have any problems locating the place. There were lots of parking spaces available when we arrived. Check in was a breeze. We were assigned a room on the second floor. The room was clean but was lacking in toiletries (save for the soap). There was a sign though that complimentary toiletries were available in the front desk. Luckily, we always bring our own toiletries so it wasn’t a problem. The room was equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker which would have been really useful had we stayed longer than a night. I didn’t hear much street noise probably because it was drowned by the hum of the a/​c. We availed of the free breakfast just to get some of our money’s worth. I only had waffle and OJ though. I liked that there was a staff member present to clear tables, refill trays, and give instructions on how to use the waffle maker.
Overall, eventhough Coastside Inn was a bit pricey for a motel, I think it’s still relatively reasonable compared to other accommodations in Half Moon Bay.

Clean hotel, easy freeway access, newly updated, good free breakfast at a reasonable price.
The room is large and clean. New 40″ flat screen TVs. Fridge and micro in room were great for bringing drinks and restaurant leftovers.
The continental breakfast was good with a waffle bar, juice and coffee, bagels, English muffins, yogurt, cereal, hard boiled eggs and fruit.
Stayed for a quick weekend getaway and would come back.

Stayed here for a week and it was wonderful! The staff is super helpful and friendly. Every single day the maids were outside cleaning windows, towels, rooms. I even spotted a landscaper one of the days I stayed here, he was pruning the plants. Whoever is running this joint really knows how to do a fabulous job!
The beds are very comfortable, the tv and internet work great. The towels are changed daily, one day I had to ask for extra because I accidentally had a flood in the bathroom. They were quick to give me towels, no questions asked.
Just an overall really great experience. Breakfast was served until 9:30am, which was nice for those mornings where I just wanted to sleep in. They had a pretty decent selection: bagels, toast, banana nut muffins, english muffins, hard boiled eggs, a selection of three different types of yogurts, cheerios, corn flakes, fruit loops, milk, orange juice, apple juice, hot cocoa, a variety of teas, coffee, honey, peanut butter, jam, waffle maker, mini water bottles… and more.
Rooms come with hair dryer, mini fridge, microwave, ironing board, iron, coffee maker, soap, mini shampoo & conditioner.
And the best part… is they are Fido-​Friendly!!! Yay for places that allow mans best friend to join in on the family vacationing fun!
Next time you are in half moon bay, stay here and be happy with life and your choice in staying at such a wonderful hotel!
