Meet the Business Owner

Wilbur A.

Business Owner

Wilbur grew up in Half Moon Bay, and helped his grandfather, a local farmer, whenever he wasn’t in school. As he matured he ventured out to farm on his own before being drafted into military service. Upon his discharge he had many opportunities for work. He spent time as a truck driver, and hauled loads for different clients, but farming always beckoned him. He eventually settled on farming in the day and trucking at night. He farmed a variety of crops that included peas, beans, corn, pumpkins, flax, hay and grain crops. He often talks about the different places he’s farmed, and the people he’s worked with along the way.

Wilbur is what many would consider an elder in the agricultural community. He represents an era of agriculture that is slowly dwindling. The old-timers that developed our agriculture system are shrinking in number. Wilbur has witnessed the shift from horse-drawn plows to modern-day machines in his lifetime.
