Sunset Ranch Hawaii

Sunset Ranch was the perfect place for our wedding! Our ceremony was under the tree, cocktail hour was by the pond, and our reception was in the barn. All of the locations on the property are beautiful and perfect for photos. Greg, the owner, and Carina, the wedding coordinator, were very helpful and responsive in all our needs. Their recommended vendors were fabulous and brought our vision to life. I HIGHLY recommend Sunset Ranch Hawaii and their wedding package option for your special day!

This place is absolutely gorgeous and is my wedding venue. I didn’t want my ceremony or reception in a hotel, and I didn’t want it to be a cultural wedding, but I still wanted a whimsical and natural venue. I stumbled upon this place, merely by accident. I e-​mailed them through their website and was contacted the next day.
I think that this space is the average price, however, if you book this venue for your ceremony and reception, it does come out a little cheaper.
The entire staff was welcoming and if I send them an e-​mail, they reply the same day. I have noticed that they tend to respond to e-​mails late at night.
I highly recommend this place!

The wife planned a surprise lunch outing for our anniversary here just this afternoon. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. The property is top notch and the staff took care of os from the moment we arrived. We got the grand tour and we were seated on the Lanai. It had been raining earlier today so we were planning to be disappointed when we arrived but they made it happen. Too bad the overcast covered most of the coastline but it left a lot for the imagination. I plan to come back another day when its perfectly clear. The grounds were very well kept for a property that size. We had a great lunch, the food was phenomenal. Really good food. Everything about the meal was great. After the meal, my wife shared what we paid and I left with a good feeling in my belly. I very unique, «one of a kind» experience for right around $ 100. This is a hidden gem for date nights or other private gatherings. We only tried one of their packages and the staff tells me there are various others. You would be making a mistake not to give this a shot.

I was told by the bride she was contacted by sunset ranch asking her to ask my friend and me to take our negative reviews down. To that I will say no thanks, but point out that’s very cowardly because you never attempted to fix the problem. And also I’m glad they have hours now so that we can call about missing items from now on!

Sunset Ranch is the perfect name for this venue. We were lucky enough to get some vog in on the day of our wedding, which led to an unforgettable, picturesque sunset! We had an outdoor ceremony and reception here, and it was incredible. A peacock strolled around as the guests were enjoying some drinks, and we enjoyed amazing views all the way down Pupukea. The best thing about this venue is that it’s really only limited by your imagination (and budget!). We could basically have our wedding day any way we want. We got married under a beautiful tree, had lawn games and drinks, dinner under a tent strung with café lights and lanterns, and dancing out under the stars. It was the most amazing venue to host our perfect wedding.

Great, food and view. Really romantic place to spend time with your significant other. Recommended

My fiancé and I signed up for the Perfect Picnic at Sunset Ranch a couple of weeks ago. It was truly the perfect picnic and a great date outing! Although it seemed a little pricey at first ($ 79 per couple), it was completely worth it. The property is beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. We felt so relaxed after coming home from the picnic. The picnic was set up in front of the pond which includes a table, picnic basket, blanket, pillows, drinks, and bocce ball. The picnic was set up in the shade so that it was nice and cool. My fiancé and I were the only ones having the picnic so it felt like we had the entire place to ourselves (except for the chickens and peacock!). The food is from Hawaiian Fresh Farms and I believe all the ingredients are local. The chef was present to answer our questions about the food which was great! Our picnic basket was delicious and included roast beef sandwich, pasta salad, mixed fruit, Lilikoi cheesecake, hibiscus drink, Kombucha, and sparkling water. We ended up having to take some home because we couldn’t finish it all.
They also offer a hike and a Farm to Table experience which we are planning to do on our next date day.

We recently had our wedding at Sunset Ranch. We personally did not want to get married at a hotel, and Sunset Ranch offered a gorgeous outdoor venue for us to get married at. It is quite a far drive from town, but it has breath taking views and lots of wide open green space. Despite all the positive, the entire process of working with Sunset Ranch was a bit of a nightmare.
We had signed a contract in August 2013 for a wedding in December 2014. When we signed the contract, we understood (and as spelled out in the contract itself) that we could use one or all six venues available on the property and that we could have a live band for entertainment (one of the top items on our list of must-​haves).
A few months after signing the contract, Sunset Ranch informed me that they had changed their policy regarding music and that live bands were no longer allowed, except for in the barn (which we did not want to have our reception in). I then contacted Sunset Ranch explaining my concern and if we could have an exception for a live band since we signed a contract prior to the policy change. My contact as well as the owner had agreed to make an exception for live music.
Fast forward until three months before the wedding — After finalizing and sending the event layout to the rental company, the rental company informs me that they are no longer allowed to setup tents/​have receptions in the ‘Sunset Vista’ venue of the property! The rental company told me that that change had gone into effect a few months prior. Shocked, I contacted Sunset Ranch immediately, who then told me that they no longer allow this because of noise complaints from the neighbors. While I understand their reasoning, I was furious because NO ONE from Sunset Ranch even bothered to tell me this! No call, no email, nothing! After much back and forth with Sunset Ranch, it was clear that they were not going to compromise and allow us to have the wedding where we wanted and where we thought we could when we signed the contract. There was a small stipulation in the contract that says they can change the venue, but ONLY AFTER consulting with the Lessee, which they obviously had not done. I had to rearrange, change and sacrifice the vision of our wedding because of this.
Although in the end everything worked out, if I could do it again, I would not have picked Sunset Ranch to have our wedding at– for the mere headache and unnecessary stress from their constant policy changes and lack of communication, poor customer service.

I’ve had a Unilocal account for a long time but i’ve never written a review before, the horrible customer service I recently experienced at Sunset Ranch has prompted me to write my first review.
I attended a wedding in September at this venue which was really nice, but lost my phone at the end of the night. I contacted the bride to see if she could get ahold of someone who worked at Sunset Ranch to see if my phone had turned up after the event. A couple days later she let me know that her event planner, whose name I believe is Tayna, had found the phone and would call me to let me know when I could pick it up. She did leave a message on both my new phone and my boyfriends phone saying she had my phone and to call her back. I immideitely called her back and left a message asking when I could pick it up and NEVER heard anything back from her. I called Sunset Ranch several times since then trying to get ahold of someone but no one ever answered the phone.
Living on the west side I rarely go out to the North Shore, or I would have attempted to get it sooner. There are no hours posted anywhere at the ranch or on its website, so last friday I just showed up to Sunset Ranch to see if I could finally pick up my property that they claimed to have. I walked to where the main office was and there was a groundskeeper doing some work, I told him that I needed to pick up something from the lost and found, and directed me to a house on the property where he said a staff memeber named Carina lived. When we got ahold of Carina she seemed very annoyed and bothered that we were there. When I said I was here for the phone that I had lost during the wedding she said something along the lines of, «oh great,» and stomped her way up to the office. At that point I felt super uncomfortable that she seemed so annoyed with us when it was a staff member that had directed us to her to get some assisance. I have never expeirienced such heinous customer service before.
When we did get to the office, she proceeded to look around for the phone. You would think there would be a designated place for a lost and found, especially when holding onto expensive property like a $ 600 iphone. After looking for a minute she was like, well sorry I can’t find it it must be gone. Ummmm ok? Really? Clearly she knew it was not there anymore, and that one of the stafff members had taken it or something, maybe she was using it herself but the whole thing seemed really shady.
She even said that everyone knew about it becasue it was in the staff notes that I would be coming to get my iphone, but made it seem like it was my fault that I had waited so long to get it. In a super rude way she said, «well you did wait two months to pick it up, but we’ve had a hat thats been sitting here for a year.» What if I didnt live on the island, or didnt have a way to come get it? Two months isnt that long when you’ve had stuff in the lost and found for over a year like you said, lady. Because it was something valuable that the staff would want it was gone.
I just felt the need to share my experience here as a guest at an event at Sunset Ranch because of how I was treated, even my two friends I was with were like WTF? Did that really just happen? I left feeling disgusted and offended by my expereience with Carina and all we could talk about after that was how shady the whole thing seemed. I will be attempting to contact who ever is in charge here to see what the protocol is for something like this (if they ever answer their phone.) She did say several times that they are not liable for things in the lost and found after a certain period of time, but I feel very wronged because I was contacted and tried to get it back shortly afterwards. You dont just misplace an iphone, clearly someone took and and she knew it as soon as we tried to get some help from her, which is probabaly why she seemed so annoyed. If you lose something at this venue, good luck!

Sunset Ranch is a beautiful place to have a wedding, it’s huge with plenty of parking and photo opportunities. Carina was a joy to work with, she’s super responsive as well as Greg. The only thing I didn’t really like are the mosquitoes! Be sure to bring bug spray, my guests and I were getting bit.

We just recently had our wedding at Sunset Ranch. I’ll keep this review short and sweet. The staff, location, and views are all amazing. You could not find a more intimate, beautiful, personalized spot to have your wedding or event. There are tons of places in Hawaii, especially on Oahu to get married but many are crowded, over priced and basically wedding factories. Not Sunset Ranch. Seriously, if you are thinking about getting married on Oahu, pick this spot. Tip: provide transportation to keep your guests happy and safe (Sunset Ranch will guide you with all vendors including transportation) :)

Sunset Ranch is amazing. We had a Valentine’s Day wedding this February, and despite the pouring rain, it was beautiful. Every one of our guests complimented our wedding. Most people even said it was the best wedding they had ever been to. Carina was so helpful, and all our questions were answered, and needs were met. It was both beyond what we ever imagined!

This place is gorgeous with the most spectacular views. When I did my site visit I knew I had to get married here. Sunset Ranch as a venue is so spacious. There are so many beautiful places on this property to hold your ceremony and reception. I chose to have my ceremony under this big tree, it provided the perfect backdrop to my ceremony. My guest then went to the lawn in front of the ranch house for cocktails, then had dinner under a tent on the lawn. Sunset Ranch even has a barn that can be used for a reception site it you don’t want to rent a tent. I would recommend anyone who would like an outdoor wedding on Oahu that is not a beach to go and check out Sunset Ranch. Greg the owner was really easy to work with and replied promptly to my emails.
Parking for your guest is not a problem and they have a great trailer bathroom for your guest.

I just got back from Hawaii for my son’s wedding.
Long story (I think every marriage has a long story) cut short.
The place is:
absolutely gorgeous
incredibly pretty
unbelievably beautiful
amazing ocean view
astonishing sunset
The whole thing is just so simply rustic and romantic.
Made myself crying more.
The wedding was almost too perfect.

She approached me after the dinner introduce her self and I heard, «I went to UCLA then I am working for Unilocal.»
The Agent 99 was very beautiful, charming, tall, slim, solid black long hair Korean who does not look like Korean, well, so she is Secret Asian Agent 99 then, but NOT from Ranch 99, for crying out loud!
(she said she is Korean, well, at least I could not tell, but, you know, don’t we all have ugly relatives that you really don’t proud of them, uncle or aunt? Don’t we all? Such as a drunk cousin? She looks like who does not have the ugly relatives. I don’t know, just want to say she was very nice. Not because kissing Unilocal’s ass which I have never gave in, but now I know that there are friends who reads my crazy reviews so I have to be very careful. I think my review will be boring as hell like Lawrence Welk.)

The moment we step foot on this property, we fell in love with it, and knew it would be the perfect venue for our Oct, 13, 2012 wedding. Sunset Ranch feels like you are in God’s country… birds chirping, gorgeous mountain and ocean views, Mother Nature surrounding you, and breathtaking sunsets. Our guests enjoyed taking pictures to capture the incredible sunset! Our wedding had a romantic rustic wedding theme and this venue fit perfectly! There is even a working barn where you can hold your event. We used it as a nice backdrop for photos and as a part of our wedding video. The huge tree was where our wedding ceremony was held. It is such a beautiful backdrop that it needs no major decorations. We kept it sweet and simple and it was honestly, even more lovely than I had envisioned. It was my dream to have an outdoor wedding and after much searching, my girlfriend luckily found sunset ranch! It was difficult to find a venue that could accommodate the parking needed for very large parties. I loved that they had enough space for my 200 guests, no problem! An added plus was that we were able to have the facility to ourselves all day, with no other events going on nearby. Another wonderful aspect is that Greg Pietsch (Owner) and his excellent staff were so accommodating, patient and extremely helpful throughout the entire wedding planning process! They went above and beyond to make our big day extra special for us. We even rented a horse through the sunset ranch to use for our «first look» last minute and it worked out great! I emailed greg a lot and he always responded right away. He is so professional. He is such a nice, good-​hearted guy who cares about his clients, like family. Dania, who took us on our first and last site visit was so welcoming, knowledgeable and helped us a lot with envisioning the event with the many options the sunset ranch offers. Christine was the person in charge on the day of, and she did a great job making sure everything went smoothly. She even took some gorgeous photos of our wedding, and shared it with us! All our guests were so impressed with the sunset ranch. It made for such a memorable event and everything came together so nicely with all our awesome vendors and décor. Also, the sunset ranch has so many nice photo op areas on property. Our wedding photos look amazing because of it! We rented a cottage at the turtle bay and a lot of our friends rented rooms there too or beach houses on the north shore and made a weekend out of it! It was a nice little get away! Overall, we highly recommend the sunset ranch to any wedding couple looking for a venue. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful, fun-​filled, and perfect wedding, thanks to the sunset ranch xoxo

Last month I had the pleasure of attending a wedding and reception at Sunset Ranch Hawaii. Let me start by saying that it is definitely worth the drive to the North Shore for this venue. This ranch is absolutely beautiful with breathtaking views and a comfortable and relaxed setting. It was refreshing not to be at a hotel or a resort for a wedding. It’s a beautiful drive up to the ranch, which is located a little up the mountain from the highway. This provides for a beautiful view of the valley.
Up at the ranch, there are so many picturesque sites to choose from on the ranch to host an event. The stable is large and can host a big group if you are concerned about shelter from the rain or wind. There is a beautiful big, welcoming tree where this particular wedding ceremony was located. On the other side of the ranch house is a pond surrounded by beautiful, tropical plants and flowers. The ranch house offers rooms for the wedding party and provides for a casual and comfortable setting for a country style event. There are acres of land where a large event tent could be placed. From the ranch house, you can over look the valley and ocean. I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing the sunset is from the ranch. It’s incredibly romantic. Once the sun goes down it can become very chilly, which is a nice opportunity to snuggle up to that special individual. The wedding I attended had catered in local food, which was yummy.
The only downside was the limited restrooms for the number of guests at the wedding. It can be hard for older guests and children to wait in line. The other slight concern was the windy road and drive down the dark coast at night. People can drive very fast and there is always a concern for safety when alcohol is served at an event.

Really nice venue for events!
I shot a 2 hour engagement shoot here recently and the space was great to work with. Honestly, we could have well gone over 2 hours as the place is huge and offers so many different «scenes» to work and get creative with. Unfortunately my clients had booked another venue for their wedding. Seeing this place for the first time, I don’t think they realized what they could actually do here just seeing everything naked with not much creative vision. When I started telling them all the things they could have done, they were really bummed they picked a different venue.
I say if you’re coming to look at the place to possibly hold an event/​wedding, bring someone with you (perhaps another vendor such as photographer, wedding planner/​coordinatior) who has experience and can help you see the place differently with through experience or their own creative vision.

Sunset Ranch is the most unbelievably beautiful venue on Oahu. It has the most perfect natural backdrop and the surroundings are well kept. Because the property is so huge, the possibilities are endless. You can really get creative with what you want to do, and where you want to hold (the ceremony, the cocktail hour, the reception) with so much space to do it. As a wedding planner, I work with many venues and was impressed by the promptness of emails when questions were asked. This truly makes my job so much easier! They were flexible and accommodating to my clients and were a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. I hope to do another wedding here soon!

My wedding was held here in March and it was spectacular! The grounds are beautiful and the view is out of this world. True to its name, it’s a beautiful spot to see the sunset. Greg and everyone on the team were very helpful and I have no complaints!

My wedding venue is set for Sunset Ranch on 10.20.12
I was originally going to have my wedding at Hale Koa Hotel in Waikiki but, I was not able to have my ceremony and reception at the same site. So, I tried to research a couple of venues and came across Sunset Ranch Hawaii. This is the most beautiful location (seriously. I’ve seen them all…) on the island and I had to find out more about the place.
I decided to make an inquiry with Sunset Ranch and spoke with Greg. Greg was very nice and helpful with ALL the questions a first time bride (me!) had. You know, I felt really stressed with all this pressure on deposits and how the heck to plan a wedding but… Greg is so easy to talk to and it doesn’t seem like you’re talking to a vendor. He is more like a friend that is there to help you along the way. Greg answers all my questions whether I bug him via email or phone call. He never seems to get irritated with me and is always quick with his responses. This is my favorite vendor yet!
My fiancé and I went to do a site visit and met with Greg at the ranch. This place is amazing! Pictures does not do it justice. You need to experience it for yourself. We took a look at all of the venues this site has to offer. You can choose between five different locations on site. My fiancé and I had a hard time deciding what we were going to do because the entire location is beautiful.
For your reception:
If you want a great view for your guest and decide on having a tent outside, it is just magical. Before the sun goes down, you can see the beautiful mountains and ocean in clear view! I could only imagine a beautiful sunset and lots of open space for all the ideas a bride could ever think of!
If you are on a budget and you don’t have the money to pay for those expensive tent rentals… There is the barn that you could hold the reception in. I thought I’d like to save money on a tent and have my party in the barn but my fiancé and father decided on having the reception outside.
Just wait till you see it… You’ll have a hard time deciding too.
They also have these really awesome bathrooms! I was really scared on having an outdoor wedding because I didn’t want to use those port-​a-​potties. Yikes! Greg provides an amazing trailer that holds two clean bathrooms (with A/​C!) for the guests to use.

This place is such a dream come true. I couldn’t wait to write a review about it! Whether you live in the mainland and want a destination wedding or are kama’aina… This is the perfect place to have your wedding. You wont regret choosing Sunset Ranch as your venue!
PS. My fiancé was so excited after our first site visit he couldn’t wait to tell his friends about it and show them the pictures that we took of the ranch! This place don’t disappoint. Call them now before everyone else finds out about this place!
