Great service overall, arrived early to beat the rush to shark’s cove. Staff gave great recommendations on how to get into the cove, and where to go. The main guy who helped us looked about 16 years old, which was hilarious, but was really professional. We had a great time following the sea turtles during our stay!

Went here the first week of September. This was my first time here and my sisters second time here as she came here in October of 2011. She loves this shop! Mike was really great and helped us with our snorkeling rentals and he was quick and very pleasant! Wonderful Customer Service!!! We rented the snorkels for the day and ended up wanting to rent them for 3 days. Love the location of this shop as it is literally right across the street from Shark’s Cove. Thank you Mike for all your help and allowing us to take our pictures with you! I will definately come back to rent with you when I go back there! You and all the guys there were so very helpful, happy, and friendly! Thanks a bunch! Aloha! Shirley

We were very impressed by the quality of service provided by this shop, which serves people visiting Shark’s Cove for the snorkeling opportunities there. My family and I are novices when it comes to snorkeling, so we really appreciated the help provided by Mike and his staff. Actually, the service we got there went way beyond the call of duty. Mike not only helped my nephew with some sunburn issues on his feet(he found a gauze pad for him to wear under the fin) but also helped me come up with a substitute wrist band for my waterproof camera. In short, the guy knows how to run a business: i. e, treat customers with care and respect. If you go there, I recommend you take Mike’s advice on everything. For example, he suggested we get the wetsuit tops which protect you from both the sun and the initial coolness of the water. That worked! He and his staff simply helped us with all the questions we had and trained us on how to handle the ins and outs of snorkeling, The day at the cove was certainly wonderful, featuring some up close personal swimming with big sea turtles(and some nicks on the legs from the rocks), but I also will remember how much of an effort Mike made to ensure we would have a great day. If you’re going to Shark’s Cove, check his shop out!

Situated literally across the street from Shark’s Cove, and sandwiched between Seamaids beachwear store and Shark’s Cove Grill, it’s the most convenient place to rent gear. They offer rashguards, leak-free snorkel gear(for $ 15/day & $ 30/3days). The only thing I recommend they rent or sell are aqua shoes! They would make so much from that. The rocks are slippery and annoying. There is no real sand at Shark’s Cove, more like huge painful pebbles. The guy gives you a quick orientation of Shark’s Cove and also tells you how to get to Three Tables, both known for snorkeling, without the throngs of people Hunama(sp?) Bay has. They also encourage you to wear a rashguard(those shirts that offer sun protection meaning you don’t need sunscreen on your upper body, which keeps the marine life alive longer. Chemicals in sunscreen are bad for fish!).

This is LIam McNamara’s surf shop and unfortunately, his business show very little interest in customer service. However, he is really interested in making a few more bucks on your back. I’ve had the very unpleasant experience of going through them for a board repair around last Christmas. My board was buckled and one of his employees offered to give it a second life through the service of their professional shaper. After a few convincing arguments from the employee, I decided to go with a whole repair of the bottom of my board for $ 125. In the mean time LIam McNamara, who was there when I arrived but had left, was so anxious about getting the repair deal, called his shop to check whether I had accepted it. I was in front of his employee when he called. That was already a bit suspicious. Before I left, I told the guy I wouldn’t be able to come and pick it up before 2 weeks and the guy said no problem. By the 27th of December my board was ready and I was getting daily phone calls to urge me to pick up my board before I would get charged for storage(despite our agreement). Under the pressure of the employee on the behalf of LIam McNamara, I managed to find some time to pick it up before the original due date. When I got to the store, I found my board with a very nice, invisible and amazing repair(from the shaper) of the buckle. After a closer inspection, I realized that my board had another repair on the tail for a ding that had happened while it was in their possession. Beside the buckle, the board didn’t have a single ding. After a long discussion with the employees, who first tried to cover the problem by telling me that this ding was there before, one of them came up to me to tell me that they were sorry but the board had been caught by a wind gust and landed on the tail. Unfortunately though, the repair hadn’t been done by the shaper but by LIam himself(the employee said) with some quickfix to try to avoid loosing money with the shaper who would have had to do more work and therefore would have charged the surfshop more… I have to say that LIam’s fix quality is very bad when compared to the shaper and I would have done much better than him as well. INTHEEND, NOTHING! No compensation, no offer to repair again(through the shaper). This is very disappointing, especially coming from a renown surfer. This is not at all the Aloha spirit and it shows that making money became his first priority. We all know times are bad for the economy. However doing business is not just trying to make money but also having satisfied customers who will come back. Well, I won’t and same for all my surfer friends… Mind the backwash! If that can help: Surprisingly, I recently discovered that this place has another review at «Seamaids Sports Wear», which turns out to be consistent with the identification on my credit card receipt: Seamaids Sports Wear 59063 Pahoe Rd Haleiwa, HI96712 Phone(808) 63 – 0390(not sure why the phone number misses a 0) Merchant ID: 87882000003300
