Planet Surf is one of a handful of surf shops in Hale’iwa. I generally don’t rent gear, so I can’t rate that aspect of the store. What I do come to surf shops for is unique t-shirt & tank top prints, and unique boardshort prints. This store is really weird to me. It is like going back in a time warp. The prints are really weak except for the one I bought(from a whimsical perspective, not that I actually ever inhaled pakalolo — LMAO!). The boardshorts prints are ancient and not name brand. The owner is really nice and has a French accent. I think she may be from Tahiti. However, I would not stop by here unless you want to step back in time.

This surf shop is the best on the North Shore that we have found. Their rentals are nice boards for the cheapest around– $ 10/day! We rented some boards and liked them so much, we bought them. We got two great longboards for less than many shops sell one board. Also nice selection of t-shirts, sarongs, slippers, board shorts, etc. So, if you are looking to rent boards or in the market to buy them, you gotta check it out.

This place seriously has it all! Where else are you going to be able to check your email(computers and wifi are in the back), rent a surfboard/moped/bike/kayak, buy swimwear/beachwear/casual wear/kid’s clothes, find souvenir gifts that are unique and extremely well priced and also indulge in purchasing a new bong? Right here! Although I found the smoking paraphernalia a little overpriced it’s still a decent enough selection in a place that doesn’t tout being a headshop. There are also toys for the smaller set and lots of great stuff that’s useful and well priced. It’s a great place to stop and get everything you need for a fun North Shore day.
