Guides (Mike, Matt, Dave) and overall service was outstanding. They always reached out to us to see if we needed anything even when we were not in the water. The ocean was rough so dramamine saved me on this paricular day. We saw so many sharks it waa well worth the price for this unique experience.

I am afraid of my own shadow! I LOVE the ocean but I am terrified of it. I have been pushing myself to be more brave and I have seen this and wanted to do it for the 2 years I have lived here and I finally did! I had a blast! My husband and son had a blast! I will be taking every visitor I have from out of town from now on!
1. Staff was knowledgeable and super nice.
2. Yeah people get seasick so if you do take something. I didn’t but I was raised on boats. It is worth it take medicine and suck it up. It is worth it.
3. The crew asked constantly if we were okay in the cage. I loved that.
4. We saw a ton of sharks it was awesome. The second the boat pulls up you will see the sharks. You can pay for a ride on and have a ton of fun. I recommend bucking up and getting in though. I did and it is something I will never forget!
5. Wear sunscreen, bring a towel, and leave all of you «got to haves» in the car. They take your bags right when you get on and you don’t need them anyway. All you need is to be ready and bring a camera!
Now go sign up it is the bomb and you won’t be sorry!

The staff is very friendly and I have nothing bad to say about them. Unfortunately when we got out to the cage drop spot it was too rough to go in the cage. The crew told us they would refund our money and did so promptly. While we were out there they got the Sharks to come around the boat so we at least got some good pictures of the Galapagos sharks. The sea was very rough. I’m a Florida boy and have been on hundreds of boats but this time I was feeling a little nauseous. However I didn’t eat before and believe that contributed.

Very reputable company. Unfortunately we weren’t able to get in the cage because the water was too rough but they so refund you or slow you to reschedule. We did go out to the site and we were able to see the Sharks from the boat. Definitely going to have to plan another trip to come back on a better day.

Our group had an incredible shark journey! They guarantee sharks and mean it! This is an experience people don’t get to do too often in life and I highly recommend it to anyone. Don’t hesitate in this. It is worth it. We had Mack and Dave R. on our boat and they were extremely informative, professional and fun!

This was an amazing experience. The crew was professional, the booking and boarding process was easy. We had about 25 minutes in the cage and saw about 40 sharks. They don’t chum the water… the vibrations from the boat create a learned response from the sharks who surface to search for crab and other remnants from fishing boats. Highly recommend!

So we went on this adventure on Thursday and wow it was horrible! Out of the 19 people that went only one person (other then the crew) threw up violently! The cage took the boat side ways to the waves and even the experienced boaters fell violently Ill. If you are going to do this I would do your research and see how rocky the waves are that week because you will ruin your whole day as I and my girlfriend did as I am sure the other 18 people did as well. BEWARE.

Amazing, first shark cage diving experience. We booked this last minute for the 7am tour for this past Sunday (4÷4÷16), and it is definitely worth the price. They picked us up on time from our hotel in Waikiki at 5:30am, and we arrived at the North Shore at 6:30am. Note: Transportation is $ 55/​person.
The crew was friendly, and made the experience a lot more informative and fun. Very professional, patient, and experienced. On the boat, there were around 15 people total (including the 2 crew members), and the crew split us up into three groups. They drove the boat out 3 miles, and before we knew it, scores of sharks began to surround our boat.
Each group was allowed 20 minutes in the cage. There were so many sharks (around 20 I think), and the view from the cage could not be better. There were plenty of picture opportunities, and it felt safe the time entire. Water was extremely warm (even at 7am). On the way back to shore, we ran into a group of about 20 – 25 dolphins, and the crew was nice enough to stop the boat and let us take pictures. Overall, ⁵⁄₅ would recommend.

My second time doing this excursion. I did this trip back in 2007. I enjoyed it then and this time was great as well. My daughter (13) enjoyed it. So did my brother in law. There was a Japanese couple that even took their 4 and 6 year old! I know my wife wouldn’t have allowed that but my point was its safe. The shark cage has very thick bars and rises up about 18 inches above the water line to prevent an accidental visit by a shark. The visibility was great. You don’t realize how many sharks are around you until your on the boat. The crew was great. They even were kind enough to film with my iPhone. Tip them well. You’ll have a great time.

All I can say is WOW! Exceeded our expectations. Booked last minute, staff was great in making it work for us.
Staff was very professional, patient, and helpful. You can tell they adjust based on the group. We saw whales on the way out and the captain stopped the boat so we could watch.
The dive was better than expected. We could see sharks before we got in the water. They were everywhere. Felt safe the entire time. In the cage about 20 minutes, right amount of time.
There were kids and adults on the excursion. We all had a blast.
Can’t wait to do it again!

I had so much fun at North Shore Shark Adventures! After countless years of ‘shark week’, they were easily my biggest fear & I was honestly beyond terrified since I bought it the day before. The bay was in a great location with an awesome town & people. We met some locals while we waited and they share Huli Huli chicken– yum!
The ride out was quick– but he did say it was one of the calmest days they’ve had recently. The crew was easy to get along with, and used all the corny captain jokes that ease the nerves. They explained why the Sharks are there & how the cage worked. My group was first & we jumped in the cage. I immediately saw sharks, 5 swimming below. There were also other fish as well, pointed nose fish? The time in the cage was 20 minutes or so but seemed like a long time to enjoy the view. It helped me with my fear but was also a huge rush!
Only downsides: while waiting for the boat to pick us up we sat on a random hillside littered with trash and we almost missed the excursion because they didn’t really yell they were ready to go. Parking is hard to find– the shark shack is well hidden in the boat harbor. Don’t worry, you’ll get it by round 3!
NSSA was a MUST SEE on your next trip to Hawai’i! Do not miss out!

This was absolutely an incredible time! I’m visually impaired and before I lose the rest of my sight, all I wanted to do was swim with sharks. They are such magnificent and misunderstood creatures. I found North Shore Shark Adventures in a travel guide we received when we moved here. I couldn’t believe my luck in finding them.
When we arrived, we easily found the check in ‘shark shack’. We were early, but so was everyone else. The woman at the check in was so sweet and answered my questions very patiently. We boarded our boat a bit early and were greeted by a hilarious and knowledgeable crew. Our female captain was so cheerful. The safety brief by Matt was funny and Jason was very thorough. They were awesome.
We were lucky and road calm waters 15 minutes out to the cage. You get twenty minutes in the cage with seven other people. The water was crystal clear and the shark swam right up to us. It was indescribable. You really have to experience it first hand.
We are forever grateful this tour exists. An amazing and unforgettable experience

We loved our North Shore shark excursion!
First thing that struck me was that they called me the day before to confirm all details of the trip, directions, and make sure we didn’t have any questions. It was nice to touch base before heading out to North Shore from Waikiki– it had actually been on my list to call but they beat me to it! I FULLY recommend renting a car if you’re headed to the North Shore or Windward side of the island so you can take full advantage of your time and aren’t on a shuttle schedule. There are cute shops in Haleiwa and a ton of food trucks that you have to try. I have our car rental in my other reviews and I loved them so check it out if you’re interested.
The crew of the boat was super nice and wanted to give us an excellent shark experience. Very knowledgable about not only the different sharks we saw (2 different species– the Galapagos shark and another that I can’t remember the name of) but also of the other sea life such as whales and dolphins. We saw a humpback whale really close to the boat– spouts, backs, and tails. The funny thing is that we had spent three hours on a whale watching tour the night before and didn’t see anything quite as good.
You will 100% see sharks on this tour. We were also satisfied with the amount of time (about 20 minutes) to swim with them. They came really close to the cage (but it wasn’t scary– they want no part of you). We were split into 3 groups– so my boyfriend and I were with another family, which was fine because the cage was large and we were focused on the Sharks the whole time. I would recommend bringing an underwater camera or or water proof phone case.
Other perks– the snorkel gear was provided and worked functionally, pictures and souvenirs were available but not pushed at us, good stories, and good music. Did I mention that sharks were 100% guaranteed and the crew was really, really friendly and knowledgable? We had a great experience with North Shore Shark Excursions/​Adventures :)

Went to hawaii for my birthday and shark cage diving was one of the top things to do on my list.
Staff picked us up in front of our hotel, drove us to the dock site in North shore. Driver was nice, maybe told us too much about his past. Arrived right on time.
Boat ride was about ten minutes out. You could see sharks immediately around the boat when we stopped.
Very exciting! Staff gave us great tips and took care of everyone to be sure we were comfortable. One of the best experiences I have ever had! Only wish we could’ve had a little more time in the cage.
When we came back to dock. Driver was ready to take us back.
I definitely recommend if you’re in oahu.

For the more adventurous types…
My bf, friends and I went on a shark cage diving tour, and it was pretty awesome. The crew was very experienced, friendly and wanted to ensure we had a good time.
Prior to heading out to the diving location, we were given a brief intro on expectations and had a chance to ask questions. They assured all of us would be safe and the biggest ‘danger’ would be getting in and out of the cages.
We took a 20 minute trip, 3 miles away from the coast. Once we got to the location, you could already see some sharks swimming around. It wasn’t until I started climbing down into the cage that my nerves started getting to me. It was tough climbing down the ladder due to the choppy water and just as tough swimming around in the cage due to constantly being pushed back and forth by the waves.
Once I got down into the water though, that’s when it became so surreal. There were at least 4 – 5 sharks swimming around, and they were so nonchalant about things. I think it’s because they’re desensitized to human interaction (this isn’t to say stick your arm out to try to pet them!). But it was pretty cool seeing them swarm around… some of them even got pretty close.
My advice to you is take some anti nausea pills before heading out as you can easily get sick on the constantly swaying boat. At least half the folks on deck blew chunks during our trip (which ended up being pretty cool. The fish and sharks love human chum… especially if it’s McDonalds!).
I wouldn’t do it again, but it was definitely a great once in a lifetime experience.

It’s been a real pleasure dealing with these guys. I’ve been coordinating this dive for my friends & myself for about 2 months now. Everyone I’ve spoken with on the phone at North Shore Shark Adventures has been very friendly & accommodating.
Super easy to book the dive on their website as well & I LOVE that they don’t charge you upfront! You will need to enter a credit card to make the reservation but they only hold that information incase you are late & miss your boat or don’t show up to your dive at all. Also, if part of your reserved group don’t show, they will charge the card on hold for however many no-​shows there are. Minimum 24hr notice make any changes to your reservation without this penalty.
You will make your actual payment in person after your dive is complete & the boat returns to the harbor. They accept charge cards (awesome! Who carries cash nowadays??) & allow individual transactions within the same reservation (if needed). I had 6 total in my group so it was nice not to get stuck with the bill & then have to collect the money back from my friends later.
The boatmen are great; they do a great job talking you thru all the safety precautions & talking story with everyone to make you feel comfortable & welcomed. They offer a video of your dive for $ 75. If you want one, let them know BEFORE you get in the cage & they also offer t-​shirts for $ 20 when you get back to the harbor & are making your payment (s).
The weather was pretty lousy today when we went & everyone in my group got seasick to some degree or other (5 of us used Meclizine, 1 used non-​drowsy Dramamine). I’m pretty sure everyone on the boat, besides the staff, felt it.
The sharks were great! They were waiting at the dive spot as soon as we got there & tied up with the cage. There was a group of somewhere around 8 – 12 Galapagos sharks during our tour. They are really calm & swim up really close to the cage & boat. Sadly, no other species, honu, whales or barracuda for us. There were a few cute albatrosses that put on a show for us by diving into the water to catch fish. I wish I got some pics or video but that was when the seasickness was at its worst.
Overall, highly recommend! I’m glad I skipped breakfast & I’d return in calmer, clearer weather.

One of the best experiences of my life. If you’re even hesitating for a second, JUST DO IT! It is completely worth every pretty penny in your bank account. Also it’s a plus because it’s right near the shrimp trucks so you can enjoy delicious shrimp after you see some awesome sharks.
For this adventure it’s better to do in the morning or early afternoon so the waves aren’t too brutal. You meet at the dock, hop on their charter boat and it goes out to the middle of the ocean where they have the cage docked and all ready for your experience of a life time. The cage is not deep so you do not need to know how to swim for this. Thank goodness, because yes I am one of THOSE people. The cage has plexi glass around where the rail is where you can hold on to. Super thankful for the rail because that’s what helped me hold down to one spot to do the viewing and take pictures. Definitely get an underwater camera/​go pro for this activity. The staff is super friendly and patient with everyone. It was a great time and YES I would do it again in a heartbeat.

If you believe that then I’ve got some oceanfront property in Arizona. North Shore Shark Adventures is an amazing adventure that I would encourage ANYONE visiting the island to partake in. If you can hold your breath and dog paddle, you’ll be just fine.
I had called a couple of weeks before traveling to Oahu to ask a few questions and was told that the most action and best time slot would be 7AM since there are typically more sharks out. And boy, oh boy, were there sharks out!
The boat’s crew members were helpful and funny and told some corny but fun jokes. The ocean was a little rough on the morning we went out but the crew gave us a few pointers about how to best maneuver in the cage and we jumped on in.
Ho-​Lee Cow. Sharks everywhere!!! I was amazed and wanted to stay in the water but after we spent considerable time in the cage I knew we had another group waiting to get in. The second group may not have had the same encounter my first group did since 2 people in my group of 6 were chumming the water on the other side of the boat. Rrrrraaallllppphhh. This was a bonus for me though as I comforted my grown, barfing daughter I got to see MANY more sharks again. And yes, both she and another passenger did in fact take Dramamine. So be prepared people. But don’t let the possibility of getting a little sick stop you from booking this adventure. You’ve never experienced anything like it.
We tried to take underwater pictures but honestly, the water was so rough that it was necessary to have a good grip on the bars of the cage making picture taking nearly impossible. You might consider spending the money to get the video the crew takes while you’re in the cage if you truly want to commemorate your crazy, unique ocean adventure. Truly incredible!!!
