Hale’iwa Store Lots is a plantation-inspired collection of merchants and relaxing gathering spaces that draws inspiration from the area’s unique and historic charm.
History
Established in 2008.
In the heart of Hale’iwa town, Hale’iwa Store Lots was built upon a commitment to supporting North Shore merchants and residents. For example, the iconic Matsumoto Shave Ice has called Hale’iwa its home for more than half a century, becoming a familiar, cherished presence to many locals.
Before development began, there was a vision to build a space entirely intended to support local merchants and reinforce the «mom and pop» nature of small businesses that populate this tightly knit community.
Development called for the preservation of five historic buildings that were rehabilitated and adaptively reused for the construction and redevelopment of the store lots. In addition, seven new buildings were constructed, each accurately matching the design guidelines of the five original buildings to create a fitting, organic match within the project as a whole.
A historical reference to the site’s original name — Waialua Store Lots — Hale’iwa Store Lots will preserve and retain the rural char
