Haiku Cannery Inn

Marc and Aly are incredible people. The Haiku Cannery Inn was an beautiful place to stay all in itself, but their presence made my stay here all the more wonderful. The location is set back from the road on a beautiful, lush and secluded acreage. The rooms are all clean, well-​maintained, and marvelously cozy & comfortable. Even though it was my first time on Maui, I immediately felt welcomed and at home thanks to their hospitality. I will never forget the time I spent here, and I hope to visit again one day. Mahalo!

This place was great! I was here for a wedding and stayed in the Sunrise Room with a friend for three nights. It really felt like our home for the duration– lovely common areas, and delicious fresh fruit and local granola for breakfast. Good coffee too! Would love to come back.

Aloha! I am very pleased to review this amazing B&B. This hidden gem is located in a very peaceful place, surrounded by nature, so you will have a great sleep. I needed a mask because the moonlight was so bright inside the room ;) The rooms are impeccable, the beds are comfortable, the common areas are great. There is a terrace overlooking the ocean where I had breakfast every morning. Talking about breakfast: I got delicious local fruits and pastries every day. The hostess, Benni, is so wonderful! She had excellent recommendations and her personality is very pleasant. She takes care of every detail to ensure you are comfortable. I liked everything about this place and will come back to this B&B when I travel to Maui again.

This place is amazing: lovely décor, totally idyllic setting, and tons of thoughtful details. We stayed in the Bamboo Suite (a standalone cottage), and it was so nice to be able to come and go into our own little area. We adored the fresh fruit that the owner brought along with breakfast every morning, and were so glad to be so close to so many of the great attractions on Maui — the Road to Hana, Hookipah and Paia. Just a great place that I can’t say enough nice things about.

I’ve stayed here twice now. Once in the cottage and nice in the bamboo suite.
Very quite and peaceful place to stay. Breakfast comes with the rooms except the cottage. Fresh fruit, muffins, yogurt and cereal. This is the only place I will stay on Maui.

We were so fortunate to get the Bamboo Suite, which is actually an adorable little cottage, complety private, situated in its own jungle! (That’s the feel you get here) Our stay was for three nights and we were longing for at least one more as we did not want to leave this lovely place! Benni is the most wonderful host and makes the most delicious (and bountiful) breakfasts, some of which we took with us and pic nicked overlooking the ocean on the road to Hana. We couldn’t have had a more convenient base for exploring the north coast. We loved the super comfortable bed and great bath with a wonderful shower. The ceiling fans and many windows provided cooling cross breezes which made us very comfortable all night. I also took advantage of the sweet sitting area just outside for reading and chilling!
Benni gave us two tips for dinner, Hana Hou and Colleens, just up the road, which turned out to be two of the best dinners we had during our entire stay on Maui. After an initial 5 day stay in a condo in Napili, Haiku Cannery Inn was a delightful change of pace. And yes, as one reviewer noted, there are rooster crows and lots of birds a chirping, but we found it all part of the charm of this very special Maui spot. But if these might be bothersome, do bring earplugs. We use our waterfall white noise machine everywhere we go and it did the job as far as muting outside noises. We can’t wait to return to the Inn! We loved everything about it, and we loved Benni!

Amazing, scenic, beautiful, peaceful! I could go on and on. First time in Maui and what an incredible find. Benni is an amazing woman and a very gracious host. The breakfast foods were excellent. We will be returning in January and this is the only place we will consider staying! Aloha!

By far the best place we’ve stayed on Maui! Our 13 month old daughter loved picking fresh fruit from the trees on the property. Benni is a fantastic hostess. The rooms are comfortable and charming, the grounds are beautiful, and the breakfast fresh and delicious!

My friend suggested this place because it was close to the wedding she had to attend down the road at Haiku Mill, and since I had no preference I said sure. Her description sounded nice, and I liked the idea of renting our own private cottage at a reasonable price. The three of us rented Meadow Cottage for a week and it was a little slice of heaven. It’s a two bedroom one bath cottage, perfect for a family or a group of close friends. One of the bedrooms has a queen bed, and the other room has two twin beds. There’s a spacious living room and kitchen, and a two car garage with a washer and dryer. They provide a lot of towels for you, as well as shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Also note that there is not TV, but free wifi. It was a beautiful space and we felt very comfortable there. Benni the proprietress made us feel very welcome and gave us a little tour of the main house, and I was touched by all the care and thought she and her family had put into the place. They’re also in the process of putting in a little «spa cottage» on the premises with a masseuse on call for added luxury.
This is in Haiku, which is upcountry Maui, which means an idyllic country setting. You’re awakened by the sound of the wind rustling through the trees and grasses, as well as various birds calling right outside your window. There are no condos, bars, throngs of tourists – staying here means living like a local. And yet the location is central and convenient to the Kahului airport and all the sights you want to see. It’s right off Hana Hwy so you have a head start on The Road to Hana; Hookipa Beach is a short drive down Hana Hwy, the hippie town of Paia and the renowned Mama’s Fish House is also very close, and inland sights such as Makawao and Haleakala are also pretty convenient. It’s a bit of trek to get to main tourist towns like Lahaina and Wailea, but if you wanted to be close to those places you should just stay in them. It’s a good place for those who want to take things slow and easy, and are not there to party their brains out. It’s also cooler and more rainy here and it rained on us pretty constantly our first few days, but we didn’t mind, and when it cleared up it was glorious! I highly recommend this B&B; I’ll most definitely be staying there again the next time I visit Maui.

Staying at a BnB can be tricky business; by nature the setting is intimate and the stay independent. This can be the advantage or the disadvantage.
But Benni D’Enbeau, the proprietor of The Haiku Inn strikes the perfect balance of warmth without intrusiveness. The property itself is gorgeous and historic. Benni, a long-​time Maui resident will gladly give you insight into the home’s history (which coincides with Maui’s pineapple past) and renovation.
We stayed in the Malia room. I believe its the smallest room on property, but it is a cozy ideal for a couple. The bathroom is en suite and incredibly spacious and nicely appointed with little touches like shampoo and lotion. There is even a generous closet in the room. As the morning light streams in and the rooster calls, you’ll wake up slowly and easily to find a breakfast of fresh Papaya and strawberries along with other assorted breakfast options (including a super yummy granola mix from Mana Foods!) available to all guests. You can take breakfast outside to the covered lanai which looks makai over lush grounds abundant with fruit trees and bamboo or you can sit at the shared dining table inside the house. Even for those of us who live in Hawaii, this is a nice way to start the day.
The home itself is spacious while being cozy and comfortable. Throughout the house, art work from the many local artists lines the walls. The craftmanship of the house itself is evident as is the love with which Benni cares for the property.
If you are headed to this area, definitely consider this as your homebase during your stay in Maui. Only minutes from Paia and Haiku, its conveniently located just off the Hana Highway. I couldn’t recommend it more. We’ll be back — very soon!

Awesome B&B. We stayed in the Bamboo Suite, which was a little separate bungalow guest house with a mini kitchen and private bath for 3 nights and absolutely loved it.
Off Kokomo Road, you drive down a one-​lane driveway that’s pretty private. You keep going, and it truly feels like you’re escaping into the Hawaiian «jungle.» It’s groomed but natural.
When we arrived, we were greeted by a hand-​written sign, fresh cut birds of paradise flowers, juice, and a well-​appointed pantry; a little home away from home. The floors were beautiful, the breeze & fan relaxing (no AC), and outside one side of the bungalow was a wall of nothing but bamboo rustling in the wind with the sound of birds. They can be a bit noisy in the mornings. Everything was clean, fresh & there were extra towels & linens.

In the main plantation home from 1920s, there is a shared living space, complete with comfortable chairs and couch, beautiful artwork, and a Mac to check email. It doesn’t feel like you’re in a hotel or resort at all. The backyard porch has large shutters and you have a great view of the ocean.
The owner, Benni, is fantastic and just opened her home as a B&B this Spring. She is friendly and a local, but gives you your privacy.
Breakfast was provided on our porch at 7am and was an organic & healthy arrangement of pastry, bagels, cream cheese, fresh fruit, yogurt, etc. Those staying in the plantation home ate their breakfast at the shared dining table.
