Sagittarius Salon & Spa

I had already heard good things about Sagittarius so I decided to drive the 45 minute drive from my house to give them a try. I wanted to do something pretty dramatically different to my hair so I asked for their top level stylist and they gave me Lorah. When I got there I felt the atmosphere was very professional, I didn’t have to wait too long either. Lorah was very friendly made me feel comfortable and at ease right away. She took the time to talk to me first about what I wanted. While getting my hair washed she massage my scalp and another woman massage my hands, it was heaven! She did a great job on my new haircut and I even scheduled to go back a different time for some color. I was very happy with my experience at Sagittarius.

I’ve been here a few times, and I’ve always had a good experience. Jocelyn cut, and colored my hair at my last visit, and I loved the results! Best salon in Hagerstown by far.

One day I accompanied my sister here for her appointment and assumed I’d be waiting a while. The receptionists saw me waiting and went out of their way to fit me in for a mani/​pedi between appointments, it was so nice! My sister’s hair came out beautifully and after that I sent my mom to get hers done too. It was stunning as well. At that point I was hooked. Jess and Jocelyn have both colored/​cut my hair and they’ve done an absolutely fantastic job. They got the color PERFECT and even taught me how to style my hair differently which was really nice. Usually I walk out of a salon feeling unsatisfied with a weird interpretation of what I wanted, but Sagittarius gets it right every time.
They do an essential oils rub, a calming scalp massage while you’re getting shampooed and a hand lotion treatment which really leaves you feeling pampered!
Absolutely LOVE Sagittarius and I’m so glad that my search for a good salon has ended :)
It’s a little pricey, but worth it.

Nothing better than a Friday afternoon at Saggitarius! I really cannot recommend them more highly. A hand massage, a head massage… A glass of wine — it was perfect. Even better my stylist, Laura, listened to what I wanted and helped me reach my goals. A little pricey– but worth every penny. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Saggitarius

Everyone there provided excellent service. Even for $ 35 hair cut, it came with a scalp and hand massage, both were very nice.

I’m so happy I finally found a salon and stylist (Lorah) who I trust to cut my hair in MD. I used to only get my hair cut when I traveled back home to NY, SO happy I found her! I couldn’t be more pleased! She is very skilled, friendly, professional and truly listens to your needs. The salon is Very clean, attentive, luxe and modern. Every girl who has ever done my brows, always do a perfect job. Especially, Hannah :)

I’m updating my last review only to reiterate how great the service is at Sagittarius Salon & Spa. The front desk staff are always so friendly and helpful. Molly, «my» stylist :-), is the best for working with my long hair. She always gets my color perfect and my hair always feels so healthy afterwards. It is so wonderful to have this caliber of salon in Washington County, makes it so I don’t miss my DC «roots»!

Everyone here knows how to make you feel special! They’re all professional and friendly and they are more than just stylists, they are artists! I have since moved away and still continue to make the two hour drive to this salon and Spa. Spa services are also wonderful! Can’t say enough about this top notch salon!

Janelle did my daughters hair last week. Color and cut. She looks great. She also gave me a hair cut. My only complaint is way too pricey. My hair cut took her less than 5 minutes and she hardly styled it. Just a blow dry. Cost me $ 40.00 for that. Too much. My daughters hair was crazy crazy expensive too.

I always have fabulous service & results at Sagittarius. I highly recommend it to anyone! The front desk is always helpful, knows who I am no matter how busy they are and I’m always taken back immediately. The service is exactly as requested. The added hand & scalp massage when your getting hair washed and shoulder massage when coloring are something to look forward to. I see both Bergan & Amy & highly recommend them both! I have also taken my kids for haircuts who love it there as well. Alex’s Lemonade Stand is a great event to take part in.

Hannah is the best esthetician in the area!! She is professional, comfortable to be around, and does an amazing job on any wax you might need. She is very fast, but detailed. The salon itself is gorgeous and very relaxing. Best is Hagerstown and Frederick by far.

I love this place. When I moved up here from GA I left behind the best salon in the world. Sagittarius is a close second. If they offered paraffin hand treatments instead of the shoulder rub I’d say they were neck and neck.
Lorah is a fantastic stylist and colorist. I’ve been seeing her for over a year now and she always gets my color right on point. Her sense of style and talent is amazing. I get compliments on my hair several times a week from complete strangers both on the color and the style.
They will really spoil you here if you let them! I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a quality salon experience with true talent.

First timer here! I was a little on the cautious side when I scheduled an appointment the same day and was told I wld be placed with one of their «students». I was in need of a haircut bad! I have to say I am extremely pleased with my haircut and service I received! Super big smiles!!! Loganne was my stylist, super cute with a fabulous attitude to match. She did exactly what I asked her to do — and I felt she was very confident, which I loved. Going to a new stylist can either be a traumatic experience or a fabulous one. Love the salon, atmosphere and my sweet Loganne!!! Props to her and her graduating soon! :) :) :).

To be fair, this review is based off of an experience that was several years ago… maybe they’ve changed. I hope so for their sake.
What a freaking nightmare. My first visit was absolutely the only visit I will ever make here. I wasn’t seen until like 45 minutes after my appointment was scheduled, the girls were super snooty and pretentious, and then my hair was destroyed.
I got a wash… shampoo all through my eyes. Great.
I got a trim — more on this later.
I got a style — a simple straighten request, ended up with a curling iron being taken to my hair instead. My ear got burned and I didn’t get an apology at all. My hairdresser giggled. Really?
Once my hair was completely dried and styled, I realized it was crooked… like a good half an inch off. My hairdresser tried to even it out and screwed up the other side. This went on for a good hour or so until my hair had gone from shoulder length (what I wanted) to mid-​neck. I looked like a freaking boy. She had ended up taking like 10 inches off when I had asked for a TRIM.
And yes, they still made me pay… like $ 120. Absolutely terrible. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy.

I would have given this salon 5 stars, but it is SOO expensive. $ 149.00 for highlights, wash, cut and blow dry. My hair looked amazing! I just can’t spend that much money for the upkeep every 4 – 6 weeks. All the staff are very nice and friendly. I enjoyed being pampered :-)

I made my appointment online a week prior and I wanted a coloring expert to help me choose what I wanted done with my hair. Highlights and mainly something low maintenance to cover my grays. However, your website only gives you 2 choices for coloring! I wasn’t aware it was such a BIG deal!
I was excited about my appointment but I received a voicemail saying the person I booked with was sick so my appointment would be cancelled!
Seriously!!!
I called back and the receptionist said that I could come at the scheduled time!
I got there at 3pm and the girl was already waiting for me Jill was her name!
She greeted me and took me to the back as usual. Then she asked what I wanted done. I explained what I had in mind and she gave me attitude and got mad because my appointment was scheduled for color gloss and she did not have time to do the things I wanted! She said «I’ll be right back because now I need to figure out what to do with my next appointment»
I explained that the online booking only gives you so many choices and that I was originally booked with someone else. She was mad the whole time and she was extremely worried. We finally agreed on what she would do to my hair and she was rushing to get it done!
Somebody came over and asked her if she was ready for her next appointment, while she was just staring to do mine! She freaked out and said «what I need is magician»!
She rushed to get the color on my hair and started working on the new appointment which was a quick man’s haircut. She finished that and came over to continue with my coloring more relaxed but she would not talk to me at all.
She did an outstanding job with my color! I am extremely pleased with the color and cut!
The only reason why I am giving the salon 2 stars is for the poor attitude on how you treat your costumers! It is not the first time these girls give attitude to me and others! It was NOT my fault your salon doesn’t know how to schedule! Beginning with the rude voicemail saying «so and so is sick so your appointment is cancelled call us back» SERIOUSLY?
My coloring was not FREE to be treated like a second class costumer!
I understand her frustration but in the end IT was NOT my fault! The only thing I wanted was a day of pampering and a new look! Which I got from a girl that gave me attitude the entire time.
I love my hair color but I am scared to go back there!
I also agree with other comments in Unilocal about the receptionist’s attitude!
It’s almost like the salon pays YOU to be there and not the other way around!

I’m new to the state & have had a really hard time finding the right salon. I walked in with a serious nightmare of a dye job from another salon & booked an appointment with Jenel, my personal hair hero. She not only salvaged my hair but made it look healthy & achieved a color I am happy with.
Side note: For the knowledgable stylists and overall quality the prices are fair. Plus she didn’t attempt to up sell by tacking on services that weren’t right for me. That my fellow Unilocalers, means a lot.

First class service in Hagerstown? Yes, it is true! A professional salon with superior service. No stylist gossip, just great hair! The scalp massage and hand treatment set the mood for a relaxing visit. Megan takes her time, does a great consultation & provides superior results. My hair is long, thick, and curly (which I wear straight). She is one of the few stylists I have gone to in my life that actually takes the time to fully dry & straighten my hair. No need to go home and rewash/​style! I leave looking great.

My hair looks fantastic! The scalp massage and hand treatment were lovely and Brandon did an amazing job. He took his time to tell me which couple products to use (and didn’t try to sell me anything), showed me how to style my hair, and how to maintain the style at home. I’ve never found someone back home as knowledgable, friendly, and talented as him. Wish I had him back home.

I have been going here for years. I used to drive down from Chambersburg, PA when I lived there… And even now that I’ve moved three hours away (to West-​Central PA), I still find myself going back after several unfortunate non-​Sagittarius cut and color incidents. I love the relaxing atmosphere… the complimentary drinks and mini-​massages given with each cut/​color… Above all, I love my long-​term stylist, Codie. She is FANTASTIC with both cut and color, and I have always left with beautiful hair– no small feat considering my fine, limp hair!
