I have to agree that I had used this florist for several years. However, when I really saw what was showing up at one house for a Christmas wreath — no more. For $ 50 – 60 I expected what I ordered. Not just a wreath with a bow and a few items on it. How disappointed I was because I also went into detail what types of items I would like on the wreath and was told not a problem. I have moved on this year, ordered on line. Got the call yesterday and was told the wreath is beautiful — I will review once I get there for the holidays.

This florist is in my neighborhood and I really wish I could give my business to them. They have lovely gifts, special treats, a greenhouse with nice plants and their flowers are usually good quality. That said, I won’t be giving them my business any longer. The people at Gibney’s want to provide good service, but it breaks down when they deliver what they THINK you should have versus what you REQUESTED. Therein lies the problem. I pre-ordered what admittedly may have been an unusual order for the shop. I spent probably 20 minutes the first time I went in explaining what I wanted in exacting detail. I asked questions… do I need to explain myself better? Should I give you a list of exactly what I want? Do you understand what I am trying to accomplish? Puzzled looks let me know that they might not get it exactly right. Sure enough, when I came in to pick up the order several days later, it was completely wrong. I then took a different approach and specifically arranged the flowers the way I wanted and gave them a specific list of what kind of flowers and what color and how many I wanted. I asked more questions… do you see now what I am trying to accomplish? Can you have this ready in an hour? Yes, I was assured… we can do that, it will be ready. I came back and again it was completely wrong. I ended up purchasing what they had created and then spent the afternoon driving around to area grocery stores buying up flowers to fill in what Gibney’s had not completed. It just isn’t worth the frustration. No, I don’t want a bow. No, I don’t need the flowers completely wrapped in plastic. No, I don’t want you to wrap wire around the flowers. Those can be nice touches, but if I specifically tell you that I don’t want them, you lose my business when you ignore my requests. And waste my time at that.
