This store in Hackensack can be summed up in 3 words: horrendous, incompetent and ignorant. I purchase a refrigerator, washer and dryer and extended warranties 9 months ago, as the fridge now is literally rusting. When I went to the store, they couldn’t locate any record/​purchase of the washer and dryer, being told, «I didn’t purchase those items». Upon requesting the manager, I was told that he was in a 2 hour meeting ending at 6:00 pm but was assured a call from him– never occurred. When my wife went the following day this useless manger again, was inaccessible, shock of all shocks. After literally 1 full day of phone calls, the issue was resolved by Natasha, customer service Supervisor, at Sears Corp (the only component person), not the store in Hackensack. My advice, find another store. They dont’ have a clue what they doing nor do they care.

This place is the biggest joke ever, not to mention the «store manager» DARWIN who lied and told a Sears customer service rep over the phone that he was a district manager. I ordered a grill online and paid through PayPal. I didn’t realize it was a propane grill and not a natural gas so I told them in the store I wasn’t going to take it. So I asked for a refund. So this idiot, scanned my order and took my credit card and instead of refunding me, he charged me another $ 460 when I had already paid through PayPal. Instead of looking and seeing that he had to refund PayPal he double charged me. I found out afterwards when I got declined at Home Depot because Sears wiped me clean. When I went back to tell him I needed those funds immediately he blamed everything on me and said «well you gave me the card» yeah a$@!?, because you asked for it and I figured it was for verification purposes as it stated in the email Sears sent me!!! He took no responsibility for it, refused to help me and said «just wait, it will clear, I didn’t charge you» MIND YOU IT SAID PENDING PURCHASE in my bank account. Sears is such a joke. My bank and PayPal said Sears screwed up. What a joke. Idk what I was even thinking shopping at SEARS.

Trying to return scrubs that I bought 36 days ago and they told me no 30 day poilicy no one would help they gave me customer service # called they also told me 30 day it doesn’t say that on the receipt it says to check web site the woman I talked to told me I can sale them on EBay or better yet I can donate them. I have been a long time customer and have spent thousands of dollars and now I will not step foot in any Sears store go to hell Sears

Great Service! Great selection of tools and appliances! The store is well stocked and the employees were friendly and knowledgeable.

I’m seeing 1 star ratings, one after another. And I understand why.
We ordered a new refrigerator last year. I received an email the same day stating «Unfortunately, an error occurred in our system while attempting to process your order. As a result, this order was canceled.» and that the amount of $ 1,053 will not be on my credit card statement. Okay, no problem. I’ll reorder again tomorrow. I reordered, there were no problems and it was delivered that week or so.
I get the credit card statement and there’s a balance of over $ 2,000. This couldn’t be correct, because it was a new credit card and only about $ 1,000 was put on it (the refrigerator). Turns out, they charge us for TWO refrigerators.
Sigh.
Okay.
I contact the credit card, and provide them with proof that the previous order was cancelled BY SEARS and we only received one refrigerator. They say that it was obviously a mistake, and they’ll take it off the statement. It never happened.
I contact Sears, and the woman I chatted with looked into it and said it was THEIR mistake, and they’ll contact the credit card and get the extra charge off. A week after that, I get an email from Sears stating the following: «We have verified the order and see that this order has not been charged twice. Please contact your financial institution to drop the pending charges. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.»
Ooookay.
Fast forward to today, NINE FREAKING MONTHS LATER, and this mess is still on my card. The other refrigerator was already paid off, now I have another $ 1,093 (plus 11% interest) on my card. Again, for a fridge I did not order OR receive.
I contacted my credit card again, and he told me that the credit card ruled in Sears favor, and the dispute is closed.
So you’re saying, I owe over a grand for a fridge I don’t have? I provide everyone with proof that Sears cancelled the order, and they all say it was there fault and the charge will be removed. Yet, Sears wins this dispute? On what grounds, exactly?
If I did order TWO REFRIGERATORS, where’s the other one? Wouldn’t the delivery person have brought in a second one? Wouldn’t he have seen there were suppose to be TWO refrigerators on the truck, and said something? No, he brought me one. I signed off on one. BECAUSE I ONLY ORDERED ONE, MORONS.
We have ordered ALL of our appliances from Sears since 1973. You have lost a customer now. Oh, and you’ll be hearing from my lawyer soon.

This Sears is the coolest building I think I have ever had the pleasure to shop in. The building is straight out of the 1930’s or 1940’s and it is beautiful. Do yourself a favor and go and see it. Grab your camera and explore it a bit.
But whatever you do, definitely don’t go here to shop. This company has been driven into the ground by a greedy billionaire and this particular store is worse to shop in than Walmart… and THAT is saying something.
The employees here in Hackensack have completely given up and are probably just waiting for the announcement that the company is folding. Anytime you ask them anything they act like you are bothering them. They usually just tell you to ask someone else because no one knows anything. the levels of customer service are seriously 3^rd world.
I tried two different price checkers located on the main floor, and both of them were not working. When i asked a cashier to check the price for me, she told me to try the ones on the second level. At that point, I tossed the product on the nearest table and made for the door.
It’s like the customers are doing the employees a favor! No thanks. The Sears in Willowbrook is way better if you want to shop Sears… but almost anywhere is better than this place.

Was here for oil change. I was told it will take 30 mins to take the car in for oil change. And once the car is in, another 45 mins for oil change. They took the car in after 30 mins. But did nothing for 1 hour. I kept asking when it would be done. Got no reply. After repeatedly following, they started doing the oil change. That was after 1hr 15 mins. Extremely unhappy with this. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

I was pleasantly surprised by this Sears. I expected a dead store from 1949, given the age and location of the building, but not only was the store well-​kept, but it was well-​stocked and seemed to be doing a good business. The parking lot was sufficiently full and there were lines in front of the cash registers.
If I lived in the area, I’d definitely prefer to shop here when possible, to avoid Paramus and its traffic. The Shops at Riverside is about one mile away, and a Target is a few blocks away, so there are options outside of Paramus.

I haven’t been into a Sears in almost 11 years. Last night I realized why.
Apart from the fact that these stores look like a dump; bad merchandise, poorly stoked/displayed…the staff is absolutely clueless & has no sense of customer service. And it’s not like there is a big price difference in items either.
I came here just to pick a very specific item that my aunt had gotten from a Sears store so though I’d swing by & pick it up instead of looking at other stores. What a mistake!!! First the sales associate tells me she doesn’t have the size I need. As I walk away I pass a shelf full of the same shoe stocked with all sizes. So I took it back to her, she didn’t feel the need to apologize for her incompetency or the inaccuracy of her inventory system. The two other sales associates standing next to her at the same counter didn’t feel the need to assist and were way too busy chatting up a storm of utter non-​sense!
Then I went upstairs to get an ironing board cover… none of the three sales people I asked knew if they even had it or not. Really??? Really!!!
No wonder Sears filed for Chapter 11, when other, better stores exist why bother with this sh*t hole. I should have gone down the street to Target & would have found everything I needed. Never again! They might as well close shop.

This place must have been forgotten by time — and frozen in the 50s. The place appears messy, disorganized, and «dark.» I came here to get some tools and got to the basement where the selection seemed limited. This place reminded me of a thrift store but I was paying regular price.

Sears has always been the standard and place to go when looking for home appliances for my family. My parents’ kitchen contains so many Kenmore (Sears Brand) appliances that you’d think they hold stock in Sears Holding Corporation (NASDAQ: SHLD). They swear that Sears represents quality and that the store always stands behind their product, especially when they also purchase the Sears Master Protection Agreement (MPA).
This has always been a confusing point to be as if you had purchased a quality product, then why would you be so concerned that it is going to break or need servicing in the near future? Most home appliances have a useful life of 10+ years, so if you are continuously renewing your Master Protection Agreements instead of putting money aside to replace them, you are literally throwing away your money! It seems me that your money should be better spent up front on getting a quality product in the first place.
Our 14 year old Kenmore dishwasher had broke down on us for the last time, so my wife and I finally broke down ourselves and made the trip to Sears to get a new one. We get to the store and before we even have a chance to begin to browse through the 30 models that are available in the store we are greeted by a sales associate named Tony, who has over 18 years of experience in home appliances as I had overheard him telling a customer with whom he had just finished up working. Tony seemed like a nice enough guy, but as I listened to him talking I can’t help but think of how familiar his voice sounded. He had Howard Cosell’s distinctive staccato voice and cadence mixed with Joe Pantoliano’s accent.
We were unsure about spending so much money on a dishwasher when we know that we’re not going to be staying in this condo for more than another 3 years. Tony kept telling us, «Don’t worry, just take it with you when you move!» As if the people buying it won’t feel that we’re chintzing out by removing fixtures and built-​in appliances. We’re tallying up and I’m on the fence about dropping down the cash for the MPA when Tony busts in that I NEED to get the MPA. All of a sudden he starts telling us that the Control Panel busts all the time and the factory warranty won’t cover squat. I ended up ringing up the sale but I had mixed emotions.
I got home and I started reading every review about that model and I discovered the real reason why Tony kept pushing that model on us. It turns out that they were discontinuing that dishwasher. And the reason why they were discontinuing it seemed to be pointed at the issue with the Control Panel that Tony had alluded to when he was recommending the MPA to us. Some of the reviews said that people had 4 service calls in a year from that unit due to them buying that lemon. Some of the negative reviews even said that heavy footsteps in the kitchen would be enough to turn the unit on or off.
I called Customer Service the next day and cancelled my order, my credit card, and my delivery. Then just to make sure that all was done I called the store and asked to speak to Tony’s manager and made sure that the cancellation had been complete at all levels. I’ve had bad experiences at stores before, but never anything as bad as this. Tony clearly cared more about pushing out the discontinued product and selling the MPA. Sorry if this sucker didn’t feel like being taken today!

On two separate occasions (Dec 2012 and Feb 1, 2013), we called SEARS-​4-​MYHOME for a broken refrigerator and broken washer, respectively. Both times, we made an appointment, the tech guy did not show up. When we called, the representative said the guy would be late (WE had to call THEM). Still, no one showed up that day. When nighttime arrived and no one came, we called a third time and in Dec and in Feb, the rep. said she had no record of our appointment and so we made a second appointment, which turned out OK. We were 2.5 weeks without a fridge/​freezer and are currently two weeks without a washer… and counting. Sears is 0 for 2.

I generally don’t shop at Sears. I’ve come here for tools and appliances. I’ve purchased a tv and a refrigerator here and have been satisfied with both. The salesman in the refrigerator section was pretty helpful.
Keep in mind that the appliances are in a separate building from the main store.

Please, PLEASE allow me to give zero stars! Honestly, if I begin to talk about how horrible this place is, I fear that I may never stop. Simply put, the worst customer service I have ever experienced … ever. From the phone reps, to the cashiers, to the merchandise pick up crew, these people are just clueless & indifferent to customer needs!

I scheduled an appliance repair with Sears. I received a call the evening before and confirmed. I was scheduled for 8am to Noon appoitment however I did not even receive a phone call saying there would be a delay. I called the 800 number and they would apologize but no compensation for my time. My time is worthless while Sears repair charges are very high. I see why Sears is having the problems they are having. It is no longer the great company that it once was. I expect them to be out of business in a few years. The stores look like they did 20 years ago and the help is useless.

What is this place… I walked in had no idea what direction to go in to find what i wanted… started getting heckled by a man trying to sell me a sears card after i made eye contact with him. I saw he was in a sears uniform and could point me in the right direction but instead he wouldn’t leave me alone until the 5^th time i walked away from him and told him no.
I was searching the sears website and though i could just drive over and get the same products from the store since its such a big building.

My family and I have relied exclusively on Sears of Hackensack for our appliance, automotive, and yard equipment needs since the early 80s. Although the face of Sears has changed throughout the years, we can still rely on their exclusive brands for their quality and value.
My parents will willingly pledge a blood oath on anything Kenmore or Craftsman. We’ve tried other brands, but the Sears warranties are hard to beat. Did you know that most non-​electric Craftsman tools have free, lifetime warranties?
I was here over a week ago to help my parents pick out a new refrigerator. We looked at a Frigidaire, a Whirlpool, a GE, and a Kenmore. My parent’s ultimately went with the Kenmore 18.2 cu.ft. top freezer refrigerator. With the 5-​year extended warranty, they spent a little less than $ 800.
The refrigerator was delivered the next day within the 2-​hour time frame that the delivery manager quoted and the old refrigerator was removed. The delivery of the fridge and the removal of the old fridge was free. The delivery guys were quick, friendly and funny. But that’s what I’ve come to expect from Sears.
They got it…

AWFUL! AWFUL! AWFUL!
When I moved into a new apartment a while back, I ordered a refrigerator and they screwed the delivery up royally. They showed up an hour late and they almost broke it on the way up. The refrigerator itself was defective and made an abnormally loud noise.
I also ordered a large screen TV which for some reason was supposed to come on a different day! The person on the phone barely spoke English and delivered it to the wrong apartment.
I told them I would not sign for it and to return it. I went to their store to demand a refund for both items and spoke with a manager who was rude and nasty. He implied it was somehow my fault and would not give me a refund. When I eventually spoke to the president of the company and threatened a lawsuit, they refunded me my money and apologized.
DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE! THEY ARE INCOMPETENT AND NASTY!
