Goodyear-Kirk’s Hackensack Tire

There are several tire shops in the Hackensack area, however Goodyear Kirk’ s Hackensack tire shop is the only location that earns five stars from me; Let me explain:
You see… I drive a BMW 650i with run-​flat tires, and if there’s one thing I hate about luxury cars it’s having to deal with repairing and replacing ridiculously priced (~$ 300 each) runflat tires every time I run over a nail. The engineers at BMW decided my car should have runflat tires therefore it does not have any dedicated space for a spare tire so I am forced to deal with them or sacrifice my trunk to a spare and jack kit.
If you have runflat tires and have you have ever puntured your tire from road debris, and then brought your car in for a patch/​repair you are probably already familiar with what I am about to describe. Shop after shop claiming things like: «Runflat tires cannot be patched» or «runflat tires lose their structural integrity after running on low pressure». They would like nothing more than to force you into purchasing a new $ 300 tire when you often have a perfectly good tire with 80% tread left on it. The reality is runflat tires often CAN be repaired as long as you follow some simple guidelines, and Goodyear-Kirk’s is aware of this.
The Rules:
1. If you hit an nail or a low pressure warning light comes on try and keep SOME pressure in the tire. 10 – 20 psi makes a world of difference compared to 0psi. The lower the psi the more strain is applied to the run-flat’s sidewalls causing irreversible damage. If you drive for a long time with NO pressure the tire will eventually be destroyed and be irreparable.
2. If you have low pressure try not to drive quickly on the tire (40mph or less). The faster you drive the more damage you will do to your runflat tire from heat/​low pressure.
3. If your tire is punctured on the sidewall it will not be possible to repair the tire (just like any other normal non-​runflat tire).
There you have it, follow the rules of run flats, take your car to Kirk’s and save $ 300 for a new tire on your BMW, Mercedes, or Audi.
This shop also is also fine with you bringing in your own tires from other sources (USED or new) for installation at their shop. This is also HUGE. Some shops refuse to install pre-​owned tires for the same reason they don’t like repairing run flats. They want to leverage you into buying a brand-​new tire.
Summary (TLDNR version):
5-​stars for my favorite tire shop! High-​quality mechanics have worked on my tires/​wheels on several occasions with no damage to my sensitive, high-​end tires. I even left a tip today for the mechanic for his smooth work with my pain in the ass tires.
