i’m in trouble… so this restaurant is literally minutes away from where i work, and only now after a year did i finally go in there… in my defense they are closed on mondays and close after 8pm other days… but hey. better late than never… So i decided to be adventurous and try their most popular empanada which is the beef and maduras, the chipotle chicken, shrimp, and lobster fra diavolo. Got them all to go and swore i’d only eat 1 empanada, hit the gym, and finish the rest… well needless to say that didn’t happen and after 1 bite i was hooked! Yes i ate all of the delicious empanadas and although they are on the small side, 4 of them were enough to fill me up. if you are a larger person you might want to get 6… They were so tasty(and i was so hungry) that i didn’t even bother to take a photo. .So you’ll just have to take my word for it. I was not that impressed with the shrimp option, but all 3 other options are so flavorful… and yes they were fried so they’re not the best for your health… but def go here for a cheat meal! or get them baked if you are not in a rush and can wait a lil while…

Amazing service and amazing quality! VERY inexpensive for high quality food! My boyfriend and I each got a sorullitos de maiz, he got a truffle lobster Mac & cheese empanada, buffalo chicken empanada, Philly cheesesteak empanada and I also got the cheesesteak empanada! Every single bite was scrumptious! And the green lime, jalapeño, cilantro, garlic sauce was heavenly! I even asked to take a side of it home with me! I promise that if you give this hidden gem a chance, you will NOT be disappointed! Let’s not forget the dessert empanadas! He got the s’mores one and I got the banana with Nutella which were OUT of this world!!! We will be coming back ASAP!

It exceeded our expectations! Very small but very cute décor. Great empanadas either fried or baked! About 10 different choices of empanadas, great presentation and numbered for easy ID. The dipping sauces are one of a kind. Mofongo was delicious and the carnitas were very well seasoned and didn’t have any fat! Highly recommend it! Try the mango juice with coconut water. Very refreshing! Or BYO alcohol… Enjoy!

Definitely recommend this place their empanadas are very creative and delicious. Sorry I didn’t have any pictures to post I am just realizing I didn’t put a review in. You must have the s’mores empanadas… sooo good. do not get the shrimp I found it very hollow and cheap on the shrimp. The chicken was very good and the Beef with the platano maduro was excellent! I had the chicharron de pollo with rice and beans. the chicken was very flavorful and the beans almost tasted as good as my mother’s. my husband had the churrasco it was cooked perfectly nice and tender. Must have the pineapple and coconut drink so delicious it’s like drinking a virgin piña colada. I would definitely come back.

Just checked out the new location in Montclair and its amazing! The décor and vibe of the restaurant is great upon first entry. Staff is friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The owner floated around greeting guests and making sure all was as it should be. And the food! I got a sample of their empanadas– the chipotle chicken, Cuban pork and beef with maduros. The shell was flakey and tasty. Not greasy at all as with some empanadas. Each was perfectly filled. The three sauces that accompanied them added the perfect zest and touch. We also kept seeing really pretty plates pass us. We will absolutely be back to try more!

Service is great. Portions are perfect. Really authentic. Just like eating at home… Except with a super fancy presentation. Loved it. Totally coming here again. Also, it’s not bad on the budget.

The food was just ok… Nothing special. I’m not sure if the meat is organic, the beef tasted old. We tried a lot of different empanadas and I think the vegetarian ones were the best as the meat ones didn’t taste so good… There was no air conditioner so the place was extremely hot and humid! The service was very nice and informative. Wouldn’t be coming back.

A small pizzeria sized restaurant serving delicious empanadas and Latin cuisine. Came here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised with the offerings like crab cakes and lobster empanadas for such reasonable prices. We tried the braised short rib empanada, cuban sandwich one and chipolte chicken. My personal favorite was the braised short rib, as it was nice and juicy meat. We didn’t even bother with the baked option, although I did appreciate that they had it. It $ 2.50 each. As for lunch I ordered the chicharrones de pollo with white rice and red beans. I really loved the red beans, I just wish there were more of them! You get basically half a plate of rice and only one small bowl of beans. The chicken itself was really well seasoned well and a good portion only $ 8. Overall the food was good, we had a baby with us who threw rice and cherrios everywhere and there was not one mean glare. The star off is because it was a muggy 95 degrees today and they had the ac off and just the door open. Also, the waitress was not very helpful, asked what we wanted from over the counter versus coming up to the table. Finally be aware there is parking in the back, but it is shared by 3 businesses and the parking signs on main ave are super shady.

Stopped by for lunch today and I was so glad that I did. First, I had to try their empanadas, of course so I got the lunch special, 3 empanadas with a soda for $ 5.99. I got the beef and maduros, mushroom and the smores empanadas-fried because why not?! My diet can begin next Monday :) OMG so flaky and crisp and the fillings were so flavorful! My favorite was the mushroom however, loved the texture of the mushroom and the creaminess in contrast with the fried shell :) Then I got the mofongo with chiccaron just because. Never had mofongo before but it was so yummy, nice garlic flavor to it. The pork I would have like to have been more fried with skin but it wasn’t dry, thank goodness! My favorite thing there however was their watermelon mint juice. OMGSOGOOD. They serve it in a glass mason jar and it is cool, refreshing, sweet with the perfect hint of mint. Totally going back with my sisters! :)

This place is fantastic! My friend and I were passing through Paramus and saw this place on Unilocal with decent reviews. Our decision to stop has been my favorite decision of this road trip so far! The space is small and probably gets a bit stuffy in the heat of summer, but the service, food, and atmosphere were all good. There are only a few tables, and we were there for an early dinner(around 5) and were the only ones there at first, but the tables were filling up by the time we were finishing up. The waitstaff was helpful, and double-checked on a couple of items for us. The food came out well-timed and the Spanish guitar muzak was a non-distracting touch. Most of the dishes seemed to be Puerto Rican. We split three different empanadas for an appetizer: beef & maduros, chicken chipotle, and the mushroom and fontina. All three fried(natch). All were great, though if pressed, I’d order them from amazing(beef) to great(mushroom) to really good(chicken). My friend got a pork dinner(whose name I have forgotten, sorry) with the most perfect roast pork chunks, white rice and drunk pinto beans, and a pretty solid side salad with mesclun, tomato and a balsamic. The pork had a crisp crust and was tender. The portion(for around $ 11) was generous. I had the piononos appetizer(beef wrapped in plantains) and the salad special(watermelon and feta) – the combination of the two was sufficient for dinner. Lots of ripe watermelon chunks, seasoned, mild feta, mesclun, onion and an oil and vinegar based dressing. It came in a large pasta bowl. The pionono appetizer was two rounds of spiced beef wrapped in glazy plantains. Plenty to share(though I barely did). Check this place out, but just in case, go early. I have no doubt it fills up.

Just went for the first time and I’ll certainly be going back! Lunch special was 3 empanadas and a soda for $ 5.99. I had the buffalo chicken, chorizo and cheese steak. Tough call to pick a favorite yet since they have so many more options. They included 3 dipping sauces as well. Very pleased. I had them fried but they offer baked too.

Quality and variety are great pros but a bit annoying con is their disorganized ordering. I understand good food takes time but they need to read back and verify more often. They should probably also develop a more accurate order pick up time to avoid frustrated customers and account for lunchtime pickup scheduling. I say this all because I want them to stay in business and maintain that quality.

Their fresh juices are seriously delicious. Even though I have enjoyed the empanadas in the past, I frequent this place for their chicken soup, tostones, and their skirt steak. The chicken soup is perfectly seasoned, so flavorful, and the ultimate homemade chicken soup. Rich and chunky. The skirt steak has always been consistent, so tender, so flavorful. I’m not one to ever order steaks when eating out — but this is my exception. It melts in your mouth. Highly recommend to those who have only had the empanadas to try out any of her dishes. I will add that I prefer the dessert empanadas over the regular empanadas. That would be where one star gets taken away. Her empanadas are not my favorite I’ve ever had — but they are good! The trio of complimentary dipping sauces are outstanding. Staff is always pleasant and helpful. :)

My Uncle arranged a last minute gathering for 15 of us to celebrate my cousin Sierra’s 21st birthday. This was as pleasant a surprise for me as for her. We started with an appetizer platter of bacalaito frito, alcapuria y sorrullo. Then came the mofongo de yuca con camarones.(Shrimps). Our main course was the Puerto Rican staple of arroz con abichuelas y pollo.(Rice with beans and chicken.) Everything tasted authentic. The food was made fresh and not served from under the hot lights. This is definitely a new favorite hidden treasure of mine. I almost forgot the fresh juices. I had a pineapple coconut. There were a couple of watermelon mints too. And if you’d like some soda, they have private labeled sodas for your liking.

If youre looking for a quick snack, with many different types of options based on what you like to eat, youve found the right spot. Although this place is really small, they carry quite a few different types of empanadas. One of the main things that i really loved about these empanadas are the crust and shell of them. They were crunchy, but soft. that basically melted in your mouth. They were so flaky and delicious, i hate when i eat an empanada and the shell is too hard and overcooked that i taste more of the outside rather than the inside. I am telling you to get the lobster and/or the mushroom one. I dont eat beef, pork, or chicken but i assume those are awesome too. The mushroom had big chunks of mushrooms with a creamy sauce that just dribbled out. Surprisingly, there was a fair share of lobster in the one i had. You can actually taste it! After i ordered mine, i saw there was a truffled lobster mac n cheese one, my heart stopped… i WILL try this next time. I had the shimp one also, it wasnt terrible but i felt the shrimp tasted like frozen shrimp and i tasted more pepper in the mix. Lastly, i will always save room for dessert. The Smores dessert empanada was amazing. Who couldnt drool over nutella and marshmellow and graham cracker melted together? Ugh, orgasm in MYMOUTH. Theyre reasonably priced and hey guess what, they even have a lunch special! 3 emps and a soda for $ 6, thats a deal even a cheap ass like me wouldnt turn down! Get your booty over here!
