History
Established in 2008.
The Rittenhouse was reopened in 2014 under the ownership and management of a local nonprofit organization called Survive! Founded in 2008, Survive! strives to promote strong safe communities through education, opportunity, and support. Survive!‘s services began in the county jail with the restorative justice program, «A Better Way». Over a 3 year study, participants of this program yielded a 10% recidivism rate versus the national average of 75%. This means that only 1 out of 10 people who successfully complete the program returned to jail. The program not only helps the inmate learn new tools in which to live their lives, but it also helps to rebuild the families and prevent future victims. When Survive! purchased the Rittenhouse it was with the intent to provide transitional support to the graduates of «A Better Way». Job training, resume building, and transitional living help participants to enter back into society successfully while also building our local work force.
