My favorite mom-and-pop place for chicken wings as of yet. Okay, so maybe I’m biased because I’m a close friend of theirs. On the other hand, to counter my own disclaimer, my uncle’s got a similar shop and I still like the chicken here better. :P I stopped by recently and noticed immediately that it was packed! I’d recommend giving yourself some time since it isn’t like K.F.C. where everything’s precooked. Practically everything on their menu is made-to-order so you can expect your food to be hot and delicious! If you’re like me and you like your skin extra crispy, you can ask them to fry it hard. I can’t quite put my finger on what it is, but something about the breading makes it really addictive. Sometimes, it doesn’t get much more satisfying than a hot chicken box and a cup of half-and-half. It’s one of those«you probably shouldn’t try to talk to me while I’m in the middle of my wing and hot sauce induced daze because I won’t hear you» kinds of good. If you’re into half-and-half, I’d also recommend their triple mix. Half-and-half + a taste of summers past in a big white styrofoam cup. Try it, you’ll like it. I’m partial to the wings but if I opt for a sub, I’ll get it with provolone cheese, sauteed onions, peppers, tomato, a little mayo, and hots. So bomb! They have both cheesesteaks and chicken cheesesteaks. Equally delicious in their own ways. Their fish subs and hamburger subs(yes, you read that right. A HAMBURGER sub. It’s as good as it sounds…) give you even more tasty options to choose from. By the way, the fish in the fish sub managed to maintain it’s crispy exterior until I got home with it. Me like. ** You should probably take note that the sign for the place says«Big T’s,» even though it’s «Fred’s Carryout» in the directory. I chuckle to myself when I see the names of the stores it’s next to(you’ll see what I mean if you check it out). I guess you should know parking is limited to wherever you can find it(meters, or maybe quickly stopping by on the Wachovia lot).
