I came here with my family on Father’s Day because another restaurant was packed. Definitely doesn’t seem like a great place from the outside but we gave it a shot anyways. The food was amazing. My family loved their meal. Recommend this place to anyone who lives locally or happens to be in the neighborhood. Must try!

Went looking for a certain cuban restaurant, thought this was it but found the menu italian and one of the days specials argentinian, and then when the owner took our order he told us he is from Equador. :-) Oh well, we had the argentinian dish with grilled chicken and two types of sausages(the chicken was tender and the sausages both meaty, one flavoured with garlic and chili and the other with probably cummin and fennel seads), served with strippes and cole slaw. It was all very well cooked, but we lacked some kind of sauce, like a chimichurro or a salsa. Our daughter had a hamburger and it was also very well cooked — it was a real hamburger. She is eight years old and ordered it to be medium rare cooked and they respekted her order. We send them respect back! The place is not«happening» and the décor a bit dated, but they can manage the grille just fine, actually better than in many«fine dining”-restaurants, and the locals sit in the bar chatting and watching soccergames on the TV.(Perhaps other sports on a different evening…) With two glasses of wine and two bottles of beer we payed(no tip incl) about 64 dollars.

Popped in on Tuesday at 7PM. Place completely empty except one guy passed it by bar. Did not know if place was open. Couple guys hang out in front just watched go in and out of the place but no one came to us so we walked out

I came in last summer with my boyfriend and we ordered the lobster soup and he had a burger everything tasted amazing, I wish they served the soup with garlic bread and my boyfriend wished they put a little bit more fries a little to skimpy, pleasant atmosphere

So happy to have this place in the neighborhood and so sad it took me this long to find this gem! They offer very nicely cooked plates for very affordable prices. Go ahead and try, you won’t regret it.

From the hospitality to the food everything was 2 thumbs up! I’ll be back: in my terminator voice: Thats exactly what I did to my meal. I terminated it! I had the salmon stuffed with crab meat. Delishhhhh! The sangria was off the chain. If you haven’t been here — give them a try — you won’t be disappointed.

I eat here often and Marcello who is the co owner, waiter, bartender is excellent. His brother is the second owner and he’s the cook, damn good food. I love their salad dressing and, the salmon is the bomb!!! I’m going to go as far as saying they have the best fries in all Hudson County, and their fish and chips is outstanding. Lastly they have a new cheese cake which is direct competition to Jr’s, it’s really, really good.

We went to this restaurant spontaneously since we just happened to be in the area. The atmosphere and décor are very pleasant. I particularly enjoyed the horse motif throughout the interior. Before we got our meals, we were served the usual bread and butter, along with cheese and olives, and bread with bruschetta. Out entrees also came with a choice of soup or salad. I got the lobster bisque and it was delicious. I was actually fairly full before I even started my entrée. For my entrée, I got shrimp three ways which came with a side of linguini(or potatoes and veggies if you wanted). Overall, I enjoyed my entrée though I did not end up liking one of the variations of shrimp. I also tried several bites of the mahi mahi, which I thought was fantastic. I almost wished I had ordered that instead. Service was fast, friendly, and efficient. Prices are extremely reasonable given the amount of food that you receive.

Sooo yummy! Definitely reccomend the chicken in white wine with linguine and the crab stuffed mushrooms. Everything is good there(except penne a la vodka… not a fan)

The atmosphere here is warm and cozy. The food was amazing. We happened to come during the early bird special, so we got soup, salad, entrée, and dessert for under $ 15. Our waiter was really friendly, he even complimented us on cleaning our plates. It really hit the spot because I was craving Italian all day and I’m glad we tried this place out!

I’ve lived in the neighborhood for a few years now, and Cavalino’s is one of those places that I’ve walked by, meant to try and then didn’t. Last weekend, the husband and I decided to give it a shot. It’s a nice, quiet neighborhood restaurant. When we walked in, Springsteen was playing and several of the tables were filled with what seemed to be local regulars. The atmosphere is cozy, and the service is warm and attentive. The food is okay — I went fo the NY Strip steak with caramelized onions and mushrooms. The steak was cooked well, but the mushrooms were a little too salty. We also ordered the crab cake appetizers — those were okay too, but a little bland for my taste. Most of the flavor came from the not quite tartar sauce they were served with(I think it may have been mayo & sour cream). The husband got the lamb shanks(because they were out of the lobster ravioli) those were just okay as well. Everything seemed just a tad bit under-seasoned, which is good if you’re watching your sodium intake I suppose. There is a full bar in the back, and the place seems chock full of regulars. For better or worse, they even allowed one woman to plug her Pandora channel into the restaurant speakers. Which would have been cool, if she didn’t happen to be experiencing a break up circa 1989 on this particular night. I can stand the bland food, just please, please don’t make me listen to «If You Leave» more than twice in one sitting.

Great food /service. We were the only customers in dining room. The MahiMahi was the best. Soup or salad comes with your entrée. Two entrée’s and three glasses of wine under $ 50.00. Well worth it!

Enjoyed another very delicious meal here just last night! The early bird special really is something wonderful for only $ 12.95! I ordered the NY style strip steak, house salad, a bowl of hot chicken soup, bread, and a glass of wine. All of which were very delicious and quite satisfying of my expectations. There was a side of linguine with marinara sauce that came with my meal it was very good. Had the cheesecake for dessert and coffee. Their cappuccino is also pretty good and so is the Italian sorbet which comes bended together in raspberry, lemon, and orange flavors. I really enjoy what this place has to offer and for the price, you get your money’s worth and then some!

A neighborhood restaurant with great food and service. Try the Steak Cavalino, or one of the daily specials. For those who want a real bargain, there is even an early bird special until 6pm. Ask about their sangria with secret ingredients. The décor in this corner restaurant works perfectly, «tasteful tacky» takes you away from the compressed city, and to a little neighborhood grill 50 years ago. Give it a try if you find yourself in West New York or North Bergen, NJ. Every dish we tried has been very good.
