Great service… not so great rooms! 2 bedroom suite was dated and several outlets didn’t work.

Had a great experience with my 2 children and my friend and her 2 children. Awesome service from check-​in to check-​out, especially at crazy toucan, servers name was Jeff and he is such a great asset to your company. Unbelievably great customer service! Horrible service, horrible room, and don’t even get me started on the lifeguard staff. They were so incredibly rude to my family. The lifeguarding staff made my trip worse than it already was by treating my family so horribly. I thought this was supposed to be a family establishment. Apparently not if the staff can’t handle children.
The food was ridiculously expensive! In our room we had some bugs which didn’t seem to be a big problem at first, but later there were more and more and it was disgusting.
Overall, would never stay here again and I recommend others don’t either.

We loved our time here — the park is great for a night but I cannot say I could spend more than a few days here (there are not enough slides, etc.). I can only compare to Kalihari at the Dells and it was smaller but in good shape. There are 5 primary slides and some slides on the children’s section. The most popular was the bowl slide and it was great. I found the body slides to be a bit tough on my skin but it would be better if you had a swim shirt on.
The rooms were fine — not great but nice. The pillows were a killer to my neck — I was going to the chiropractor next day and I needed it. There is a mini-​fridge in the room you just have to find it. You will receive a tag for the water park that is also your room key. The food at the complex was a mixed bag; I did not have anything that wasn’t good but I also paid a lot for what I got. Dinner we ate at the burger/​hot dog place in the water park area and it was around $ 10 per person. In hindsight I might have bought a pizza from the pizza place in the lobby as I expect it would have been cheaper. You CANNOT bring any food or drink into the park so plan to spend the dollars.
Parking is free, and you are in a great area.

We came here for a one night stay with our 2 and 4 year olds.
The good:
The kids loved it. Lots of pools and slides for the kids to play in. Great range of water slides and areas for different ages.
Lifeguards are the most engaged that I’ve ever seen.
Generally clean pool area.
Rooms are designed for families– most include a pull out couch. The room keys and all billing can be done through your wristband which is really convenient.
The mediocre:
We went on a weekend and it was really crowded. They don’t allow locals to come and just buy a day pass– I’m sure they wouldn’t be able to accommodate more people.
Rooms leave a lot to be desired. Had to pick up some spilled chips on the floor and felt like gagging from the smell of choline embedded in the carpet.
Blankets are cheap, pillows are lumpy… I’ve stayed in worse hotels, but don’t expect to feel refreshed after staying here.
If you’re a fan of flashing lights and arcades like a chuck e cheese– this place is for you. That kind of thing gives me a headache, but they stay open somehow.
Food and drinks are expensive. I suppose that is to be expected in any resort.
Lots of other restaurants nearby outside of the resort.
It was a decent night getaway. I can’t imagine staying 2 nights here…

The good: The check in process was super easy. We arrived Early so we went to gurnee mills (about 1 mile away) for a few hours. They called when our room was ready (about 3 hours earlier than the normal checkin) woo hoo! Went back got our room key programed… the room key is on a wristband which is also linked to your credit card so buying things throughout the resort is really easy. The drinks at the bar were a bit pricey and the food was comparable to red lobster or something alike. 13 or so for a burger and fries or 19 – 25 for a shrimp entrée with sides. The pool area was nice. My first impression was that it would be super warm because the waterpark area is a humid 80 degrees but the water was a bit cold at first. It was crowded but not nearly as bad as six flags or any other theme park. It’s a bit difficult to keep up with a 3 year old because the lifeguards want you to be right next to (within arms reach) of them the whole time. The slides had about a 20 minute wait for the bigger tube slide. the others were fairly quick. The room was pretty clean although I did find a chicken wing in between the microwave and the wall… no biggie though, as a cleaner it would have been easy to overlook. Most of the staff was super friendly and very helpful.
The bad: the lifeguards (I know their job is important) but they need to chill out a bit. I know how to watch my kids… although I’m sure they deal with their fair share of parents who let their kids run amok. The one part I really had a problem with was the lifeguard staff as they were changing shift as I and my son were changing in the locker room. Most were younger guys and they were incredibly vulgar while changing themselves in the locker room. It was a conversation not suitable for a Unilocal review and definitely not appropriate for my three year old to hear. I spoke up and they were quick to shut their mouths but I think a staff changing room is probably in order. I think the food and drinks could probably be a bit better priced, especially since I paid nearly 300 dollars for one nights stay.
Takeaway: I would recommend this place to a friend or family. We had fun. Just make sure to save up some extra cash and be ready to go through atleast a couple hundred dollars on top of the cost for the room. We will most likely try this joint again.

We had a wonderful experience with the hotel. We stayed two nights (3 days). The hotel room was very clean and bigger than we expected.
The waterpark is fantastic. We have three kids ranging in age from under a year to around five years old. All three of them had a blast. I was able to have fun too with some of the bigger water slides and the wave pool but just playing with them and seeing how happy they were was worth it in and of itself.
There are several dining options on site. Anderson’s restaurant was excellent for dinner and breakfast. Some of the other ones were good but not great. But you can’t beat the convenience. We went off the property to eat twice in the three days we were there.
The arcade was a blast. We ended up dropping a lot of money there but the kids had a wonderful time and I enjoyed myself playing the games too.
The staff was very polite and accommodating. We had a couple minor issues (like dead batteries in a TV remote) that were handled promptly and politely. I’m impressed with how they did their jobs.
While this was a pricey mini vacation we will definitely be going there again and it can’t happen soon enough. We debated between this and the Dells, which we haven’t been to. I’m glad we chose Keylime Cove. It’s a lot closer to home and I can’t reiterate how much of a good experience we had.

I knew when I waited 30 minutes to check in that this was not going to be a pleasant stay. The hotel room was adequate and spacious. The bed and bedding was terrible, not comfortable at all. There was no latch or lock on the bathroom door. The wifi did not work, as we were unable to connect. The most disappointing thing about the hotel is the waterpark. It’s so tiny. It was overcrowded and so small, we were literally on top of all the other guests. Either waiting 15 – 20 minutes for tube slides or swimming on top of each other in the pools. Every area is separated and closed off, so you have to walk all around just to get to each area. In the kiddie area, there is a huge water tank at the top of the play area that dumps thousands of gallons every 10 minutes or so. There is supposed to be a warning bell, but we had a hard time hearing it. When it dumps the water, it literally knocks you off your feet if you are not prepared for it. It scared our 4 year old so much, that he refused to play there for the entire time. It knocked my wife down and sprained her hand.
Oh, and we saw poop floating in the wave pool, so that was neato.
All in all, we will never go back and will not be recommended this waterpark to anyone… unless we don’t like them… then we might suggest Key Lime Cove.

Great getaway hotel as we are local, but very poorly managed. They will only allow so many 1 night stay rooms even over a holiday weekend such as Easter, so will force you to book 2 nights guess they are anti family get together at easter time. Probably a common practice, but been using Great Wolf instead and have had no issues with this. Food is also not great at Keylime Cove so plan to go else where for something decent. The breakfast offering buffet place on the same level as the waterpark is just horrible, kid would not even touch the food.
The Waterpark is kept clean and lifeguards are on point.
The atmosphere in the hotel is good, but watched some guests put dirty diapers into the hallway as not to stink up thier own rooms how kind of them to share it.

Took our kids here for a quick one night gateway. The rooms were clean.
Waterpark is fun for small kids. Only complaints would be it isn’t enough water tube floats for the lazy river. Wave pool overcrowded and you have to fight your way to a tube. About time you make your way someone already scooped it up.
Horrible disgusting food at the breakfast buffet. We went to the buffet a little before 9am. The food was stale, pastry tasted like it was the bakery leftovers that didn’t sell from days ago. No small individual milk cartons either for the little ones.

My fiancé and I went here for a few days just to get away and relax. We stayed Thursday and Friday night and left Saturday.
A few of the things that we liked were, our jacuzzi room was nice and relaxing, very spacious and clean. The watermark was enjoyable, no lines for watersides the two nights that we stayed, the lazy river was very nice and relaxing! The decorations and shops in the lobby area are so nice to look it, love that it is themed. We also really enjoyed the game room even though we are 23! There are some very nice spots to take family pictures and such.
A few of the cons to our trip, the hot tub in the waterpark didn’t have the jets working for either of the nights we were there, we waited all day for the Sand Bar to be open in the waterpark so we could get drinks and I don’t think anyone was tending bar.
Overall it was a great trip, the staff was very helpful and friendly and we went on the right days for relaxation! Saturday as we were checking out the waterpark was packed!

Staff is friendly, the rooms are spacious. Waterpark was great for kids.
Restaurants are rip off. Breakfast buffet was $ 18 per person but service and food was horrible. They do not have enough food prepared, buffet was kind of hit and miss. Restaurant was not full by any means but it lack in service by a lot. No milk available if food was empty from the buffet no one was monitoring for re fills. It was more like what you see is what you got.
We should have gone somewhere else for breakfast, it would have been cheaper and better quality + quantity. So glad I ordered dinner from outside.

We spent new years eve at keylime cove. We had a great time with our kids. They had a dance party, magic show, face painting and many other activities for the kids. Theym water was clean and relaxing. It was a last minute decision for us to get away but it was so worth it!

Our experience was not to great at all. We waited 50 minutes for a cheeseburger in one of the food places by the water park. Found the floors slippery all over. Had to rent 2 tubes at $ 12.00 dollars a piece because there were not enough and had a heck of a time finding a place to sit. There were no towels 3 times when i got there. Will not be going back.

We stayed here one night in February, which was a good amount of time to really enjoy ourselves. I recommend this resort, but have some tips:
–Bring lotion. Even after showering, one’s skin may be dry due to the water treatment they use here in order to keep the water clean and sanitary. The hotel room only gives a small bottle of lotion and you will need a lot more.
–Bring an extra pillow. Each bed only has two pillows on it, which I don’t think is enough.
–in the waterpark, there is not a lot of seating when the place is crowded. Get there early so you will have somewhere to put your stuff.
–if you have small children, ask the desk person for a life jacket to borrow. Lifejackets are encouraged and allowed in the waterpark. It must be a Coast Guard certified life jacket per the resort.
–if you are coming to the resort in the winter, make sure you bring flip-​flops. It is very convenient to have flip-​flops for when you go from your room to the waterpark.
–Beach towels are available in the waterpark, but you cannot bring them back to your room. Make sure you bring a cover-​up or a T-​shirt to wear from room to waterpark so that you don’t have to walk around in your wet bathing suit.
Overall, this resort, including the waterpark and rooms, is very clean. The staff is nice and the lifeguards are reliable and alert. It does get crowded in the waterpark, but it is not overwhelming. We all had a great time.
If you want an idea for breakfast, there is a donut place within a mile from the resort. It is called Gurnee Donuts. Absolutely incredible donuts.

We stayed in Key West Rm 3129 — next to a vending machine room. 2^nd visit. The entire complex is in one building, which is nice in winter, because the kids don’t have to go outside to get to the various activities.
We went on a Thursday (less expensive and less crowded) and my kids basically enjoyed themselves. Having said that, we put out the «do not disturb» thingy on the room doorknob so my daughter could nap while my son hit the arcade’s, the «do not disturb» thingy did not stop the cleaning staff from coming in while my daughter was in the bathroom on the toilet — not cool at all. I woke up early Friday to get some work done online (grading, etc) and I popped over to the vending machine room for a diet coke. Coke was there but the machine was turned off — perhaps it’s only on during the weekend. At 8 am Friday we popped down to the Crazy Toucan restaurant for breakfast. They really weren’t ready (got waited on at 8:25) and the pancakes were presented nicely and were inedible — really bad aftertaste. We noticed it and the family next to us noticed it. OTOH, previously, we had had breakfast at the DW Anderson’s — no problem.
My family has been here twice now. Place has a fun tropical theme, friendly staff, and lots to do. The room was clean and beds comfy.
Adults can have fun too. The waterpark slides and lazy river are nice, and there’s a bar in the waterpark that serves beer and fun tropical drinks. There’s a giant hot tub that’s sort of enclosed. The Crazy Toucan has karaōke in the evening. There’s also a spa that offers a good amount of services.
Children love this place. There’s a place/​pool just for little ones. They have another area for kids about 4 – 8 years with a giant pineapple that dumps water out every few minutes, slides, and water squirters that kids can aim and assault with. They have a pool with a few basketball hoops. There are several «big kids» slides and also a nice, relaxing «lazy river». And the lifeguards seemed attentive, which I liked a LOT.
Every day, besides the waterpark, they have crafts (free and paying activities, like painting figures, etc.), a HUGE arcade area (and food places near it), bowling, and other activities. Lots to keep busy with no tablets, cell, etc. My daughter finally remember her cell whenwe left so she could take pictures to show her friends at school. lol.
There’s a lot of food choices here so you don’t have to leave. But I have never been too impressed with anything. Not awful, just not great.
All in all it’s a good time for the little ones.

Worked here for one day as a housekeeper. Generally everybody I worked with was nice. The lady I got assigned to work with «Lucy» was very rude. I have never in my life done housekeeping. I wasn’t going to be perfect my first day. You could tell she was getting annoyed with my work. I was ready to leave and just quit but I kept going for my own sake. Never working there and all because of Lucy. Nice going Lucy. You sure know how to respect people and have absolutely no patience. Your the reason I gave it a 1.

Came here for Christmas with my younger sister and grandma, and it was excellent!
The hotel room was very clean, had a safe in it too! Now, if you’re like me and like to watch TV, you’ll be disappointed as the TV has about 30 channels, most of which are just news.
The water park is very fun, there is a kids park, lazy river, wave pool, hot tub, activity pool with basketballs, and 5 slides. The lines for the slides are very short, but the toilet bowl slide can be impossible to get on some days.
The lifeguards are very friendly, but the visitors and kids can be really… rude. The only reason I disliked my stay is because the kids can literally do anything they want. I took my little sister (5 years old) onto the kids park, and she was splashed by children twice her age, even when she started crying. And the kids were never told to stop.
Well, I just enjoyed floating on the lazy river with my sister. I slept very well at night as the hotel was dead silent (even if there was 100s of kids!) and the service was amazing.
I suggest going if you have a kid with you. It’s very fun and great for the kids!

Great mini-​vacay!!! We have done Great Wolf Lodge about 5 – 6 times so we were looking to change it up a bit and save a few dollars! This was identical to GWL but cheaper and I loooove the atmosphere so much better!
The temperature in the waterpark was always perfect so we never got too cold. The towels were always ready.
We opted for the Mangrove Suite which worked better than a standard room for a bit of privacy for our family of four.
The service at the restaurant in the waterpark is ridiculously slow is my only negative comment.

The service here is exceptional, from the restaurant waiters to the resort staff everyone is incredible nice!
The waterpark is fun, even for small kids with slides and a wave pool, lots of fun.
The food upstairs at the crazy toucan is much better than the food downstairs. The breakfast options are bleak and I would recommend going elsewhere for breakfast but otherwise lunch & dinner were great!
Now the reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is how horrible the night sleep was for me. It was so loud way past midnight, it sounded like somebody was throwing bowling balls from the 2^nd floor. We had to cut our stay short because I couldn’t stay another night there
Otherwise though we would come back maybe for a day trip and not overnight

As a parent, you gear up going into a place like this because you assume grime and chaos – but that’s the exact opposite of how we felt. We booked a «Duke’s Deal» for Veteran’s Day, and were very pleasantly surprised. The actual hotel was meticulously clean. No spots, tears, or wear marks on the carpets; no dust on the floors; and the rooms were spotless (including the sheets and the sofas). The water park itself was also up-​to-​date, with clean inner tubes, and very clean «feeling» water. The kids hated that the lifeguards were exceptionally diligent, but I wanted to smootch them for being so attentive. The hubby and I even got to relax a little.
As for the restaurants, we tried not to eat at the hotel by slipping out for dinner down the road at Big Ed’s BBQ (amazing, BTW), dessert on the corner at Oberweis, and breakfast donuts from Gurnee Donuts (also very good). I’m sure we saved a few dollars this way, and had incredible meals, but if I were to do it again, I probably would have taken some specialty package and just eaten in the hotel, even if it wasn’t the most amazing meal ever. I can say that because the products really did look well proportioned and the cooking areas were exceptionally clean. I think we missed out on the experience of feeling like we were on a vacation in order to reach for more. Also, had I known that they would have cool gifts in their shops (not just traditional crap), I may have budgeted more time and money for those areas.
So why 4 stars instead of 5? (I’d give it 4.5 if I could). Because we were there on what I assume is a slow day, and I can’t imagine what this place must be like when it’s crowded. Also, they are renovating their locker rooms right now. While what they have completed is beautiful, it can be a turn off for a neat freak. And lastly, while I was impressed with their exclusive air purification system, parts of the waterpark smelled like an aquarium, and rubbed me the wrong way. That being said, I’d go here again over a trip to the Dells or to the other water park in the Starved Rock area.

I went with the family. Kids — 6 and 7. It was our first time. It was cleaner than I thought, compare to other places. I love the wrist band. They gave us a deluxe room right next to the park. It took us 30 seconds to get to the park. We had no major compliants. We are coming back real soon. We usually go to the wilderness. This is closed and last time, we almost got stuck in a blizzard.

We had a blast! Perfect for a little getaway close to home. Purchased a groupon, so it was affordable. Everything was clean. Staff was courteous. We will definitely return.

2^nd time here and its a fun place when its 38 degrees outside. Its basically a Stay-​cation since we live in Chicago, IL but its’ so much fun! My only gripe is the queuing for the lazy river — they should rope off a wall and have anyone who needs a tube wait there than the mass exodus that happens. Other than that the food was pretty reasonable, the accommodations were clean and kept and the staff was very friendly.

February winters in Chicago suck. So, this year, the hubby and I decided to get pro-​active and plan a little getaway. Neither one of us are wild about crowds or kids, so we picked the Monday after Valentines day. (Turns out it was a holiday, but the crowds weren’t too bad.)
It’s kinda like a mini-​Wisconsin dells, or Las Vegas for kids. There is an arcade, a few gift stores, a craft area, lots of candy & sweets and oh yeah, a water park. I liked the lazy river and the two indoor slides. (I didn’t try the enclosed ones that actually run outside the building, because, February.) There was a fun playground jungle gym thingy that had the obligatory HUGE bucket slowly fills up with water and periodically dumps out over the side. The kids seemed to like it. I liked that there was a mini pool for kids who aren’t yet swimming, and some small water slides for them as well. FYI, there IS a child-​free area, but it is just a mid sized Jacuzzi with a fence around it.
We each had a drink at the bar, which was pricey, as expected. It was a good froofy drink tho. We brought our own food, so we could hang out in our room with the Jacuzzi tub, so I can’t speak to the food at the hotel.
We really enjoyed the arcade (which has air hockey). There were also a lot of other really fun games.
I thought the price was rather high, even for a waterpark. You can check in early, for a price, and check out later, for a price. The one good thing is that if you take the regular check out time, you can still play in the water park for the rest of the day for no extra charge. We had a good time, but I think next year we will try one of the parks in WI.
Interestingly, they seem to offer a deal for Girl Scout troops where one can get a big suite and admission at a somewhat reduced price for each girl. (Yay, field trips!)

There is a lot to do onsite. And, a lot to do in Gurnee. But, in the future I will avoid this resort during ‘peak’ times. The water park gets too crazy. If your kids are under 6/​7, and can’t fully swim, the water park is nerve-​racking. My son is a very brave 4.5 and he was happy to be adventurous, but the way the center climber is set up, it’s hard to see through and with all these people, it was more difficult. It’s much larger than Timber Ridge which we’ve done before.
The food, arcade, craft area and customer service were great. So, we will go back, but we’ll definitely wait another year.

Many reviewers have compared KLC to the Dells. I do not know what people were expecting, but we did not come here expecting Great Wolf or Kalahari, etc. Being from Wisco, my husband and I have spent plenty of time in the Dells. It is great there, but we did not come to KLC expecting the frills WI Dells has to offer.
My husband and I decided to stay at KLC last night because he had seen it while driving back and forth to Chicago and home, in Wisconsin (he drives truck.) It was our anniversary, we were going to Chicago and have been scouting for hotels for when we come to Six Flags, anyway.
Let me say THIS. WE WERE VERY PLEASED FOR THE VALUE! We were here on a Wednesday night and booked the day of. This is an off-​peak time so we checked-​in right away, our room was ready and everyone was very polite!
We had a drink at the Crazy Toucan and although everyone seemed new and slightly confused at mixology, they were polite and engaging, and the supervisor, Juan, treated us to a drink on him after finding out it was our anniversary!
Our room was a simple king with sofa sleeper, but it was very clean, with pretty island colors and a fair amount of space given the room type! Perfect for when we bring our son! I was pleasantly surprised to find a mini-​fridge hidden behind a cabinet door, worth its weight in gold (for no additional charge.)
We had a blast in the water park and granted it was small, but as far as bringing our five year old, it would not be overwhelming! We could get tubes quickly and easily, there were no lines. The only complaint I would have would be the temperature of the park, but I could easily remedy that with a coverup. Plus, KLC boasts fresh air every 20 minutes so there was not the nasty condensation buildup on the windows that a lot of indoor water parks have.
The only reason I gave four stars is because it is the no-​frills version of a resort hotel, The restaurants and shops that are available seem like half-​hearted efforts.
The guest service, politeness of the staff and cleanliness of the resort make up for frills. My family and I will stay @ KLC again and this will be our choice for where to stay when we come to Great America this summer!

We (boyfriend, his 8 year old daughter and I) stayed at the cove the first weekend of March. I’d wanted to go forever, and was glad we finally made the trip. I made the trip technology free, so no pix, sorry!
The standard room we stayed it was very nice. Two queen beds, a TV (no movie channels) a fridge in the dresser cabinet (slightly cold but not freezing), and am adjoining bathroom. The bathroom had one of those terrible doors that slide into the wall and don’t really lock. UGH. The worst. The shower did have a line for your swim suits, which I really appreciated.
The water park was great, but I can’t figure out why they were advertising weddings and business meetings, this is clearly a kid kind of place. I can’t imagine going just me and boyfriend, or with just adults. The water park consists of a wave pool, a lazy river, a kid friendly area with slides and a giant pineapple that dumps water every so often, a basketball pool area, and then the giant slides.
The giant slides are the for slides that loop out odd the building, and the vortex (the toilet!). Fair warning, the outside slides get very cold over night in winter! Two of the rives are body slides, the other two you use tubes. Tubes for the vortex as well. These 5 slides are the reason to go. The lines can be long, but SO WORTH IT.
We ordered drinks at the bar in the Waterpark and they were decent. Very strong. About ten bucks a drink. We browsed the arcade and the very small bowling area, looked fun but we didn’t participate in any of that.
We had breakfast at DW’S which offers a la carte or a buffet option. Our waitress was super friendly, as I wasnt feeling so well (too much wave pool), and the food was delicious.
I highly recommend going with the kids and having a fun overnight.
The lockers cost $ 6 in the park, and you can use them with your fancy wristband that unlocks your door. I’m pretty sur there’s a way to use them after you check out as you can use the Waterpark the whole day of your check out, but we just put everything in the car.

This is my first night here. Checked in at 4 and have been at the water park for the last few hours. I like that they have warm towels for you ready when you get out of the water, I have never experienced that anywhere! Overall, the whole place is all age friendly, accommodating everyone from babies to adults. I haven’t checked our the bar or restaurants yet, but we did buy sandals for fairly cheap at one of the stores. Lockers are available for $ 6… Rooms have a mini fridge, and there’s a microwave in the hall next to the ice machine for those needing to heat up food or warm up baby formula. I will make updates for my full experience tomorrow!

Great experience overall. Stayed with my wife and 18 mo old baby girl in king spa suite with jacuzzi. Check in are little late at 4 pm but you can use the water park as early as 1pm that’s maybe good for couples but with baby you need to have a room asap. early check in is an option but fee is way to high
The room was really clean had fridge and safe for your jewelry or such. I saw people complain about low resolution tv I want to clarify that it’s not tv that’s the issue is a cable signal that’s not HD (for the price it should be) Jacuzzi in room was the best thing but a lack of microwave was a minus … Not a deal breaker because you can find them in the hallways.
Water park itself is very nice with verity of slides pools and such great time for people of all age but if you are coming from Wisconsin dells type of water parks you won’t be impressed.
Arcade is great but was lacking my favorite classics like street fighter fighting games
Resort is full of themed restaurants and shops all put together with helpful staff provide you with a Great experience
Most likely will be back again.
