AccuVISION is Lake County’s premier eyecare provider with 7 locations including Wauconda. We’ve been voted «Best Eye Doctor» and «Optician» in the 2014 & 2015 Suburban Life Reader’s Survey. We have also been honored with the 2014 and 2015 Angie’s List Super Service Award for the Chicagoland Area. We have been selected by VSP as a premier provider to their members and accept more insurance plans than any other provider in the area. We are also the only VSP provider open on Sundays in the North Suburbs (Gurnee & Round Lake offices). All of our offices have in office labs providing one hour service in many cases. Most contact Rx’s are in stock and our patients can usually walk out with lenses from our fitting set inventories right after their exam. We do have the latest state-of-the-art instrumentation including OCT and Optos which respectively provide 3D views and wide angle retinal viewing without dialation. We do participate in the InfantSee Screening Program sponsored by the American Optometric Association. All of our staff receives regular ongoing training and we regularly go out of state for specialized training. Our opticians are either currently certified by the American Board of Opticianry or studying to pass the proctored examination. Visit our website for more info about our staff and each location.
History
Established in 1982.
Dr. James Doherty took the American Vision franchise in Waukegan which was the beginning of our one hour service. In 1988 he opened the private practice AccuVISION in Lindenhurst. He took over the the American Vision on Michigan Avenue in 1995 and also converted the Furst Vision in Round Lake Beach to an AccuVISION. It has become the one of the largest opticals in Lake County. The Waukegan office was moved to its Gurnee Mill’s location in 2000. This spring it doubled in size with its move to Saratoga Square. Mundelein was opened 2007. In 1999 Doherty bought out the franchise agreement from American Vision to avoid the payment of franchise fees that Pearle would have charged. Several years later those offices were renamed AccuVISION to reflect their private practice nature. The Crystal Clear Eyecare became an AccuVISION in 2014 and so did the Sear’s Optical in Wauconda. Wauconda just moved and tripled its size becoming one of the largest private practices in the northwest suburbs.
