Camp Cha-​La-​Kee is a sleep away camp for children ages 7 to 16 that incorporates wholesome outdoor fun, opportunities to build friendships, and life-​changing character development.

Activities on the beautiful 61-​acre campus, located on the shores of Lake Guntersville in North Alabama, include canoeing, horseback riding, zipline, archery, boating, tubing, swimming, arts & crafts, The Blob, nightly devotions and much, much more.

We provide a six-​to-​one camper-​to-​counselor ratio and a Healthcare Professional is onsite 24 hours a day to administer first aid and dispense camper medication.

History

Established in 1957.

YMCA Camp Cha-​La-​Kee was founded as a rustic retreat for youth and now welcomes children, families, youth and church groups, and business organizations to its picturesque campus on the shores of Lake Guntersville.

Meet the Manager

Joey B.

Manager

Before moving his family to North Alabama, Joey spent 10 years at Camp Piomingo in Louisville, KY. During his tenure, he served as Interim Executive Director, Senior Program Director, Outdoor Education Instructor and Camp Counselor.

Joey’s favorite part of directing YMCA camps is helping youth build friendships, self-​confidence and a love for the outdoors. Over the past 10 years, Joey has supervised more than 700 camp staff and served more than 14,000 overnight and day campers.
