Established in 1993.

Salty Fly Charters started in the spring of 1993. I have fished since the age of four and am a native to the Tampa Bay area and waters. U.S.C.G. licensed and maritime insured, I am one of the few full time guides, and I consider myself lucky to have grown up here in Florida, the «Fishing Capitol of The World» and specifically Tampa. For 22+ years operating out of St. Petersburg, I fish the waters of Clearwater, Safety Harbor, Palmetto, Bradenton, Anna Maria and Sarasota.

Captain Russ Shirley is owner, operator and fishing guide with Salty Fly Charters (now celebrating over 22+ years). He is a native Floridian and has fished Tampa Bay area waters since the age of four. Enjoy light tackle sport fishing and saltwater fly fishing in the clear, shallow waters of Florida’s Central West Coast. Flats fishing beautiful Tampa Bay including St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Tampa, Bradenton, Anna Maria and Sarasota for tarpon, redfish, snook, trout, sharks and many more. Large tarpon fly fishing a specialty during tarpon season. Beginners and instruction welcome. Includes all tackle and licenses as needed.
