Wow!!! I’m from South Florida and I contacted Dave to find me a 2009 Mercedes Benz SL550. It took him all of one day to find my car. I purchased the car the next day!
Everything was done in an organized matter. Dave is tremendous! I strongly recommend you using him.

DejaVu strikes. Came back to Dave a year later for another difficult-​to-​find color combo with some specific options. Looking for a Lexus GS 350. Dave spent a couple weeks emailing us back and forth, calling with leads on potential cars, and becoming familiar with which options came on which package. Finally found the exact car we were looking for at a dealer right here in the Bay Area. Couldn’t have worked out any better. Whether you’re looking for a specific vehicle, or looking for a good price, Dave’s the way to go.

Dave found me the best deal on a car I could possibly hope for. In fact, it surpassed my hopes by far! This, along with a great warranty and lots of useful information made this car buy the easiest and most cost effective experience I ever had while buying a car!

I knew nothing about cars and he helped me find the perfect car with everything I was looking for and for an incredible price with a very affordable monthly price (cheaper than I ever would have thought possible for a brand new car of my dreams). I don’t write reviews often, but when I do, its when I’m blown away. Quite frankly, I don’t know how Dave can charge as little as he does, provide the level of service that he does, and still stay in business!
I’ve never used a car broker before, nor even considered it. I’ve always just searched craigslist until I found something relatively close to what I wanted. I think after this experience, I may be converted.
I’m what might be described as «particular,» or picky, when it comes to cars. I was in search of a used 2014 Corvette, with some specific, and difficult to find options. I wanted a specific exterior/​interior color combo, and several performance options that were very difficult to source. I searched various craigslist locations, eBay, and auto trader. After probably 2 months, nothing.
I found Dave on Unilocal,and emailed him a «feeler.» He quickly replied, described the process, costs, etc., and I decided to give it a go. There wasn’t much risk, as the cost for the search was minimal, if no car was found.
After just a couple weeks, he was able to find the car I was looking for, and got it for a price significantly below Blue Book. Even after shipping the car to California, the final price still came in under blue book. When the car arrives, he handles the smog, paperwork, DMV nightmares, etc. This alone may be worth the saved time for many buyers.
In my experience, there were three major benefits of using this type of service from Dave:
1. The car. I simply could not find the one I wanted, even after my own extensive search across the U.S. Dave has access to a dealer/​wholesale inventory which did not show up in any of my eBay/​Craigslist/​auto trader searches.
2. The process. I’ve never purchased a car from out of state, and/​or had one shipped over, so I wouldn’t know exactly where to start as far as the payment, paperwork, shipping, etc.
3. The price. While my main reason for contacting Dave was to find a specific car, I didn’t anticipate that I could actually save money doing so. As I mentioned earlier, due to his wholesale price, my price out the door still came out below blue book, even after his fee and the shipping of the car.
During the whole process, Dave was always very easy to reach by phone and email, and was very straightforward and honest to my seemingly endless barrage of questions. I can confidently say that I will use his services again, and recommend it to my friends.

I was looking for an auto broker to consign a car I had for sale-​I had never been through that process before. I looked at Unilocal reviews and gave Dave a call. I remembered I had met Dave at a function a few years ago. We arranged for me to bring the car in within a few days to have a look. When I met him, he took the car right then; I wasn’t prepared, but I did it anyway wanting to get the process started.
He was immediately ready to get started on the process of selling my car and felt he could sell it for more than I thought. The short answer is, he did. He had suggestions of what to do to make it more marketable and I followed his lead. They were great suggestions and I am glad I did them.
He coordinated the smog test, repairs and detailing and had it sold within a week; then he deposited the proceeds for me at my bank.
He knows what he is doing and he just does it. My only frustration in the process was that I am more of a need to know, blow by blow kind of guy. When I had specific questions, I didn’t feel like I got clear answers. For instance, I didn’t understand that one of the documents actually signed the car over to him!
In the end, he did what he said and I was very happy with the result. When I asked for documentation, he provided it. I would refer him and work with him again, now knowing how he works.

This was my first time using an auto broker. I found Dave on Edmunds and had him sell my car for me. He got me 20% more for my car then I was offered when I tried to sell it. He was super easy to work with and very knowledgeable about all cars. Top notch guy! Had such a great experience and would use him again and again.

I worked with Dave primarily by email (I’m in MN) for a few months as I dipped my toes into and out of and into the car market. He was great. Always patient and responsive.
We eventually realized a new Honda Pilot would be less expensive than a used one (to Dave’s credit he tried to convince me of this from the start). While he was able to get great deals I CA, I still would have had to pay for and wait for the car to be shipped. I eventually asked if he could get the same deal on MN. He didn’t hesitate to try and within 24 hours found me a screaming deal (thousands off MSRP) at a dealer 10mi from my house.
I’ve already passed his name on to two friends who are in the market. I won’t hesitate to reach out to Dave again the next time we’re looking for a vehicle.

My wonderful car was just sitting after I got a job that didn’t require commuting. I looked into selling it to BMW, and the price was insulting. I didn’t want to deal with the time, effort, and complications of selling the car myself, and I’m so happy I found Dave. He took care of everything — including giving me a ride back to BART. I got more than I expected for the car, and the whole process was seamless. Thanks Dave!

I’ve bought 2 cars from Dave, an Audi A4 Avant, and a Subaru Impreza Sport (both stick, thus harder to find). Both transactions have been the smoothest I’ve ever had plus I saved money. Who ever heard of a win-​win situation when purchasing a car?
In between buying my two cars, I leased a Jetta TDI (also stick, so probably harder to sell) without Dave’s help (afterwards, I learned that I should have done it through him). The car needed some cosmetic work and Dave hooked me up with a great body work guy (LC Auto Polish & Body Work). When I went to pick up the car, LC suggested I could make a profit by buying out the lease and selling it instead of turning in the lease (VW would have probably found something additionally wrong with the car and charged me), and that he knew a broker that would handle everything. It turns out that broker was Dave! Anyway, I bought out the lease and let Dave handle everything, and even with his fee, I turned a profit that more than covered the body work I did. I think that constitutes a win-​win-​win.
The plan is to give my Impreza to one of my kids in a couple of years, so when I’m back in the market for another car, gee, who do you think I’ll use?
I’ve seen the less-​than-​positive reviews mentioning he’s gruff. I’ll take gruff, honest, and me saving money over the alternative any day of the week.

Dave just sold my car! I highly recommend Dave if you want to sell your car. He is honest and efficient. He took care of everything necessary to get my car sold and got more than I was even expecting to get for it! I am very grateful to him!

Recently bought a car Dave had on consignment. I’m very happy with the car and the entire purchase experience. He is certainly a man of few words. He’s excellent at what he does, was not pushy and didn’t try to oversell me. Was great to get all the dealer perks of buying such as title, reg smog, etc. at an already reasonable price, without the obnoxious dealership experience. I got the impression he would not take any car on consignment that didn’t meet his high standards.

I was looking to buy my first car and as I am not an American did not have anybody to help me. I wanted a very particular make, model and transmission. So, I found David on Unilocal and asked him to help. He didn’t have too many clients at the moment (August 2013), so I was lucky to get his full attention for a little while. I am not sure whether he didn’t want really to do anything or my task wasn’t interesting, or a «better» client came up, but in my humble opinion he doesn’t deserve the money he got from me.
Before I asked David to find the car for me, I was looking for the car myself already for a couple of months on-​line. But I didn’t find what I was looking for yet. At the beginning of August I was about to leave country for vocation when I got an e-​mail from one of the dealerships that they had the car like I wanted, but it was getting ready for sale and wasn’t offered for sale yet. I e-​mailed that info to David and asked him to check the car out and he said he’ll do the check. So, I went happily on vocation. I can bet money if I didn’t e-​mail him that info he would not do a thing until I would come back and by that time the car would be long gone…
While I was still on vocation he e-​mails me to go urgently to the dealership and buy the car and I even didn’t come back to the country yet! So, as soon as I got back two days later I asked him to slow down and go with me and see the car with me at least! He refused to go and said that I could go and look at it by myself and for him it’ll be a waste of time. Of course I could not go there because I don’t have a car to go there in a first place! And using public transportation it took me 2h to get there when I went to actually buy the car. So, to get out of the job he forced (he refused to look for the car for me because:1. he was leaving to Monterrey for a car show; 2. he had other clients waiting in line; 3. he doesn’t want to do it anymore) me blindly agree to buy the car and give him money for his «work».
I am not going to perseverate about absence of a minimum respect to a customer. Unlike many of his customers who whote 5 star reviews I am not able or interested to handle «tough love». He might know about cars, but hey! if you do it for 20+ it would be a fraud not to know something…
Finally he didn’t get ANY price break he claimed he did, I negotiated a little bit myself. And of course since he didn’t see the car, he didn’t know the car has a beat up rare bumper and broken insert (excuse my ignorance, but I don’t know what it is called) between the rare bumper and trunk top which costs about $ 2500 to repair and he could get me a nice break on a price of the car and five star review from me. Instead, it is what it is!
Finally he tried to push on me some kind of rip off insurance for car repairs that nobody in their right mind buys…

I just used Dave for the second time to sell a car, and couldn’t be more pleased with his services. He knows the market, has extensive contacts, is honest and direct, and gets the job done. He handled all of the legwork and paperwork, and kept me up-​to-​date with his progress. I think I got more for the car than I would have selling it myself, even after Dave’s commission, and he saved me a lot of trouble.
I heartily recommend him for all of your car-​buying and –selling needs.

I called Dave a couple weeks ago looking for the a ‘unicorn’ of a car. It had to be the perfect Audi A4. Not just one that was well equipped, but one that had virtually everything, in the perfect color, with the perfect S-​Line package… Oh, and it had to be a screaming deal too… Not to mention that there was probably only 6 cars in the entire country configured to my liking.
In what seemed like no time at all, Dave came through with two deals so good I could barely make up my mind.
I’m now the happy owner of that unicorn — and I did it all without going through the gauntlet of haggling with dealers until I was blue in the face.
Dave did an outstanding job advocating on my behalf — if you’re in the market and know what model/​color/​trim you’re looking for, you’ll do yourself a huge favor procuring his services.

I had a very short window to find a car and Dave was able to bring me options in my price range very quickly. He has access to a great inventory of cars and helps you through the entire process of getting the car approved in California, which being from out of state, was very helpful. The reason I am not giving Dave a 5 is because it sometimes felt as though he was doing me a favor in doing business with me and that I should have my mind made up on everything before calling him. That said, I would use Dave again to find a car, I just recommend you be near the end of your search– ie, know exactly what type you are looking for and he can find it at a fair rate.

I would like to dedicate my 1,400^th review to my car and Dave!
A year ago I was in the market for a car. I remember reading reviews for Dave and his awesome car services so I sent him an email to inquire about hiring him to find me a new ride. He called me pretty soon after I sent my email and we spoke for almost an hour. During that time we talked about what I wanted and didn’t want in a car. I was looking for a specific make and model, which drastically narrowed my results. He did a quick search for cars available on the west coast and found more than 10.
During our conversation I really felt like he knew what he was doing and that paying him the retainer wouldn’t be a waste for me so I agreed to hire him, sent him the payment and he began his search. He said it would take 5 – 7 days, but from start to finish, it only took 3! We spoke several times during the 3 days that he was researching. At the end of the 3^rd day he sent me an awesome spreadsheet with each car that fit my criteria along with pictures, mileage and other useful data. I picked the car, he closed the deal, set up the shipping and even set me up with an extended warranty (something that he offers for only a little more than what he pays as a dealer).
So in March of 2010, I welcomed a 2008 VW GTI with only 17,000 miles into my family! Still under original warranty, fully loaded (minus the annoying German navigation), all for $ 5,000 less than KBB suggested value! I love my car!!!
We might possibly be looking to sell the bf’s 330i and get a gently used A5 soon. I will definitely be contacting Dave for this task as well!

I read great reviews, so I called Dave as I’m in the market for a station wagon for my growing family. I had a fairly negative experience.
First, I experienced him as fairly surly and gruff – this is something I’m willing to overlook if he delivers on what he says he’s going to (i.e., close to wholesale pricing and in the timeframe I need). This is the person, who when I sent him examples of car listings, I got a one line responses that literally read (and this is copied directly from my email): «I still have two people in front of you; can’t respond to this» I had the feeling that he felt he was doing me a favor and that I needed to wait my turn. Not the customer experience I typically seek.
Second, he reneged on when he would be able to start working on my search. When I first gladly handed over my retainer, he did say that he wouldn’t be able to get to my search for 5 – 7 business days, which I appreciate and respect. However, after 10 business days, I emailed to check in with him on status, and he said that he didn’t recall giving me that timeframe and said that he was sending me my retainer money back.
On a positive note, my impression is that he knows what he’s doing – he seems quite insightful about the car business and appears well connected, but I never really got a chance to find out.

I sold my car to Dave a couple of weeks ago and I want to say that I very much appreciate the way he does business. I found him through an internet search and I was very impressed with the great things his other customers had to say about him. His is a style that is shamefully missing from most businesses these days. He is upfront, knowledgeable and very comfortable to deal with.
I felt good about selling my car to him, as he treated me fairly by explaining what my options were and how he determined the price he offered to me. After talking to a few other dealerships, who I couldn’t help but feel were being less than upfront and were trying to take advantage of their better knowledge of the used car market than I had, dealing with Dave was incredibly refreshing.
I knew that I could get more by making a private sale, but I honestly didn’t have the time and didn’t want to pay a monthly fee to keep my car (and avoid parking tickets) until I could find a buyer. And besides, I know that Dave will put the right effort into bringing the car up to the standards of his inventory (I admit there were minor scratches here and there).
I am confident that whoever eventually buys my car will be very happy with the sale and with the car.
I can’t recommend MyCarGuy highly enough. If I eventually need a car again, I will go there without a doubt and I will always recommend him to my friends.

When I moved to the city a year ago I brought my new Kia soul with me. After putting less than 500 miles on it over the last year, I decided it was time to sell it.
