History
Established in 1888.
The library was founded in 1888 by Frederic Bill, a local businessman and philanthropist, in memory of his sisters Eliza and Harriet. The Richardsonian Romanesque building opened in 1890. There have been 2 subsequent additions and the library still houses some of the original artwork, part of the original museum collection, and the infamous «mummy’s hand».
