We so wanted to like this place, but it leaves a lot to be desired. There was one server(the bartender) who was trying to do everything. Sat for a bit before he could get to us– at least should have gotten us menus. Got our order wrong. The barbecue was very dry and tasteless. Canned beans-yuk. We won’t be back

Contrary to the other reviews thus far my wife and I came in on a Tuesday evening to have a pleasant experience. Jeff, the bartender was extremely friendly and chatted with us as we looked through the whiskey menu, draft beer selection and food options. We were a bit too late, didn’t feel like eating BBQAT9:15pm so we just settled for some deep fried bacon. Good choice! Definitely different. Comes with a tangy sweet sauce. Breading was good — little thicker than I was expecting but I don’t know how else you’d bread it! I will definitely be comin back at an earlier time sometime in the near future because Jeff is awesome and I’d like to try to food and see what it’s like when it’s busier. Mack isn’t as busy as it used to be — but this place I could see drawing larger crowds during holiday weekends, etc.

The restaurant appeared to be understaffed, as it took about 10 minutes to be greeted by a server and about another 15 to get drinks. Server was very nice, but was pretty overwhelmed. They were out of the beef brisket, so we both had baby back ribs. I liked it, but my date said he preferred his with the sauce baked on rather than applied after cooking. Cole slaw was super creamy and not very flavorful.

My husband I routinely avoid Unilocal reviews when they are as negative as the others on this page… But we should have listened. And for your sake, I won’t write a novel. –Not greeted at all –It was dead on a Saturday at 7 –Waitress tried to rush us to order and offered no welcome or recommendations. —(Another waiter was offering this) –Ordered whiskey & ginger ale, pop was flat –Brisket was super fatty –Pulled pork looked ground and was smothered in sauce. Looked like barf. –Out of coleslaw… At a BBQ joint –Potato salad we think was from Kroger –Waitress brought our check, asked«are you done for the night» less than 5 mins into our meal. Did not offer dessert or night cap — THEN! She disappeared when we were ready to go. It was 8, she had other tables, she didn’t leave. — Stupid expensive. 2 drinks, 2BBQ dinners. No appetizer. $ 53 pre-tip. And it was gross. I only ate my Kroger potato salad/Mac n Cheese. … And they forgot our corn muffins. On a nicer note, I used to frequent this bar when it was dirty and whoever spruced it up did a great job. I recommend this place to no one. I recommend the owner watch some bar rescue, train his staff, visit other GP restaurants and perhaps consider a different food genre. I’m happy to see growth in the GP community but this was a bad experience.

OK looking and feeling. Particularly if you like gangsters. Went in, greeted right away, seated where we wanted. Proper restaurant etiquette. A waitress came immediately. Not busy at the time. It was around 530PM. We were not informed of happy hour offerings and saw nothing written on the chalkboards, there was no small menu with HH food, drink or prices. We asked about it somewhat later after we got our meal and drinks. Basically just wondering if they even had an HH. There was apparently if you asked. The one beer we had was given to us at the HH price, it was ordered before 6pm. We felt let down about all of that. We may have had an appetizer and another drink or something before we ate dinner. You know, spent more money. Food. We had pulled pork dinner. Pulled pork way over cooked. A pile of mush. The sauce was pretty good. Sweet but with a bit of kick at the end. No other condiments on the table, and none were offered. Hot sauce or anything. We had baked beans, ok, but way too sweet. Potato Salad, again sweet, cole slaw, yes, it“s coming. Sweet. Big ol’ steak fries, meh. Kitchen forgot the cornbread«muffin»(cupcake) We got it to go. Wait for it. Sweet. Boring. Stuff tasted ok but it was Boring. No contrasts. Sugar Sugar Sugar. Disquise for mundane food? Cost, way too much. $ 11.95 for the pile of mush and $ 4 more for the 2 sides and the dry«muffin». They haven’t been open but for maybe 2 weeks. Does that explain all the sugar? There was live music. The guy was good but it was WAY too loud for that time of evening. We noticed some people came in, sat down, left and went to Rockerfellers next door. Same owners but different vibe. Went to Rockerfellers to eat once. This was my once to do the same at Bootleggers. I am sad about that.
