The Hill on Kercheval

From many family recommendations, we chose to go to The Hill on Kercheval to celebrate a milestone birthday. My expectations were to have great service and fab food as that is what I was told. I was disappointed on both accounts. Our server cannot be totally blamed as he cant control the kitchen, but he also did not touch base with us in the 1 hour and 20 minute wait for our first course (the salad or appetizer). The food was mediocre, most of it lukewarm, and we didn’t wrap up dinner for 2.5 hours. Mind you, there was a few tables being served, but we were told that there was a party and they were «sorry» we had to take the brunt of it.
The management was not genuine in apologizing, I didn’t even want a to go container, but I’m sure I will never go to The Hill again.

«The Hill» has too many real estate offices and brokerage houses and not enough retail. «The Hill» has lost most if not all of it’s panache from it’s glory years! Not a bad place by any means; just no big deal.

Farther down Kercheval and past The Village is ‘The Hill’. The Hill is considered the ‘Downtown’ of Grosse Pointe Farms and has many shopping areas just like The Village in Grosse Pointe City. In addition to Brooks Brothers, Café NiNi, The Grosse Pointe News & Library, there is the famous The Hill Seafood & Chophouse where you can shop for an excellent dinner. The buildings are all very nicely designed and they look like ‘the small downtown city feel’ that you get from watching an older movie. If you desire a small walk you can walk from The Village down to The Hill and walk back again. Parking is available with a parking garage, and it is close to the lake and beautiful Grosse Pointe South High School. The Hill offers a beautiful atmosphere, beautiful scenery, beautiful shops, and wonderful things to do.
