This place is a little throw back but I’m cool with it. This place is good for stoping real quick for some decent food. I recommend the bacon cheese burger

It’s a cool, dark, laid back atmosphere; not just a beer n a shot bar. Mike the Bartender knows how to mix a good cocktail and the hot toddies were just what the doctor ordered for this cold winter.

Ugh. I got fish sandwich and waited forever… it was obviously made with those gross frozen squares that kids like eating… it wasn’t even heated thru properly. Disgusting. Why don’t they just change the name to MacDonalds because if this is an Irish Bar then I am a clown!

fantastic bar. our bartender, Michael, was freaking fantastic. gave me all the details I needed to know about the area, as I am from out of town. the cook was amazing, Tom his name was. we didn’t order food but the way this guy cooked the food was something to watch. literally! I watched him for the 45 minutes that we were there. I was inclined to buy him and our bartender a drink but they gracefully declined. as I have family living in the area, I will be back! by the by… we actually tried to come back on a Sunday after our first experience but they were closed. and yes I got an Irish coffee… could be stronger. but then again I am a whiskey girl.

Headed over here one evening to watch a Tiger game and have a burger. Marge’s was packed and loud so we ventured a little further from the norm. Glad we did! Through a stale smoke smell and darkness, we entered the bar. It’s a bar. Standard neighborhood variety. Not too Irish-y,(official term there), as they didn’t have cider for me, but they had some tasty burgers. Service was friendly and prompt, and people watching(and listening) was at a premium. I’ll be back.

This place is your classic dark paneled, nobody judging you, delicious burger, awesome hole in the wall bar. The bartenders know how to make great drinks, and beer is always cold. The tight layout just adds to the huddle up with your friends for a good laugh and a drink feel. Get the ground round deluxe with roquefort cheese, it’s delicious.

I’ve eaten here twice both times it exceeded my expectations from a service and food tasting expectation… The only thing I wish would improve is their beer selection… But what they have obviously meets their customers’ needs as it has always been busy every time I’ve gone. This time again with my wife, we went in on a Friday. I had a Turkey Melt today, not on the menu but they gladly made it with Bacon and Swiss on Rye. It was delicious. My wife really liked the Ruben because it is on the leaner side with the meat… Some Ruben sandwiches she ends up hating because they’re fattier. You can’t beat their special: Draft Domestic Beer, Burger, and Fries for $ 5.95!

Don’t shower before you go because you’ll need to once you leave. I too had a relative in St. John and went there for nostalgic reasons as I grew up in the area. The place stunk like grease and smoke and it literally penetrated three layers of clothing by the end of our meal. Now I’m no smell slob; I smoke cigars regularly and I have never smelled so bad after leaving an establishment. As for the food, the burgers that we ordered medium rare were served medium well and were dry. You’re much better off driving a mile north and go to Little Tony’s for a good burger.

Super cute little bar! Waitress was very nice and helpful. I don’t know why but I love when little old ladies drink beer and this is totally where they do that! The other patrons were awesome too. Lots of seat dancing and good vibes. I didn’t eat here but next time I will!

Decent enough restaurant with fair pricing. But, I had only gone there because of all the rave reviews I’ve read about their Fish and Chips. Mine were obviously factory fish parts stamped out in geometric shapes not found in nature. Very flat, tough and too much breading for my taste.- How hard is it to hand batter some cod and deep fry it? My only other issue was the cafeteria seating. The narrow dining area has one row of cafeteria style seating directly behind the bar seating. If anyone is standing or waiting at the bar, their ass is in the back of your neck pushing you forward. If anyone is getting into the other seats or if a waitress is taking an order for the adjacent tables, their ass is either in your face as they scooch in or their ass is dragging your plate of food to the far side of the table. Once or twice I can forgive, all night long gets old real fast. If you’d like to have a private conversation over dinner, forget it.

Location/Parking: Located on Mack near the Post Office and right next to Golden Dragon. There is usually a good amount of parking on the side and in the rear or on the street. Pricing: Pretty reasonable pricing for a burger and fries. Two people can get fries burgers and beers for under 20 bucks. Cleanliness: Very clean and kept up… not grimy or moldy at all. Bathrooms are a bit small and dated but they keep em clean Service Quality: I have never had a bad waitress here in the 10 years I have been going. Very friendly and outgoing even when the place is jam packed. Ambience/Atmosphere: Cool wooden paneling but with a Midwest feel and a lack of pretension, The lighting is a bit dark but it works well since it gives off a relaxing tone. Crowd: Mostly locals from GP… you could be sitting next to a multi-millionaire and not even know it. This is a place that is very low-key and not snooty at all. People don’t usually dress up to come here. Mostly jeans and T shirt type of folks. The food: Irish Coffee has some of the best bar burgers in SE Michigan and I believe it was even picked as one of the best by the Free Press. Great soups and onion rings as well. It is considered bar food but it seems to be made with a bit more love than in some greasy spoon.

Oh the Patty Melt!!! On rye toasted to golden perfection and just crisp enough to smush the juicy burger and get all the flavors to mix. Do you hear angels singing? OMG it was good!!! The fries are crisp on the outside and soft on the inside and cut thick the way a REAL fry should be and the onion rings are fresh crisp and hot. I have had drinks here many times and but never the food so Sunday was my first. I have to admit I want to go back everyday and eat that patty melt and experience nirvana! I love the crowd here it’s a good mix of young and old. The older fellas who sit up at the bar always have some BS’ing to do and it’s great to just sit back and listen to them rap about random junk! Service is GREAT!!! Quick, and always super friendly!!! GOHERE!!! GETFOOD or you will be deprived of a little bar food type meal from heaven! May i suggest the patty melt, I hear it’s pretty good! AHAHAHA

Best burger! I was in DC recently and kept thinking where can we get a burger as good as «IC’s». Didn’t find it. Since it’s smoke free I dine in more now. Great fries. Great for St. Patty’s Day lunch.

It’s a small, dark, throwback of a bar. But every star I’m giving is for the burgers. Their ground round is one of the most underrated in Detroit and maybe the very best on the north east side of the city. Stop in for a burger, fries and a beer and you won’t be disapointed.
