I’ve been coming here when it was originally a Tastee Doughnut shop, over thirty years ago. And went to Livaudais Middle School. But when Tastee went out of business, It became Terrytown doughnuts and café. It’s been here ever since. But this is the first time I’ve reviewed it. This one of the few places in and around New Orleans that still reminded me of the original McKenzie’s bakery doughnuts. These are old fashioned kind with a little substance. Not collapsing puffs of air and sugar which are So popular now. I love the original glazed but their apple fritter is my favorite. And of course the glazed chocolate too. The other good thing about here is that it’s always been open 24 hour a day. They were open not long after Katrina hit. I would get a box of doughnuts and bring them with me to sooth me while l cleaned out my flooded house. I ate a lot of Terrytown doughnuts during those dark days. The staff have always been friendly and they love to talk to you. Of course this being an older establishment, the fixtures are worn from use. A sure sign of good eats. But they’re always clean. Oh and they have good Community coffee too.

Terrytown donuts is definitely the best on the westbank. The staff is always friendly and works fast, even when it’s really busy. The donuts and King cakes are delicious.

These donuts are just good every now and then. Don’t count on them to taste good all the time. Haven’t tried anything but the donuts. It also puzzles me how it’s 9 bucks for a dozen of non tasting dough with sugar. No taste on the inside. I’m just saying. Now the don’t mind bringing you some hot donuts if you ask, so that’s a plus for a donut place. In the mornings on the weekends the young ladies are very friendly.

My best friend brought me a box of donuts Saturday morning from Terrytown as she lives in the Wank and I live uptown. Glazed for me, chocolate frosted for my son, buttermilk for my daughter. They were still warm when she arrived and I was transported back to childhood. These donuts reminded me of the bakery in my grandmother’s small Wisconsin town: fresh, handmade, real, warm donuts! Now, I’m not the biggest donut fan, but a warm, fresh, really good donut… well, that is another story. I ate two, and I just don’t waste calories like that if it’s not worth it. Sooooo, worth it!

Ummmm I found out about this place because a coworker use to bring the donuts in fresh every day. THEBESTDONUTSIVEEVERTASTED. So I said okay, let me go try the food since I see that the reviews are ok. I get there, the donuts are not covered, something that is super gross and nasty to me, people coughing, talking. just gross GERMS. Something told me I should have turned around when the blonde lady(not the one who took my order) was looking like she hated her job and didn’t care to give any form of customer service. Anyway, I sat there and gave my order then paid. The food was cheap I took it to go. okay here’s the good part. I get to my job and the grits looked gray… yes GRAY(I took pictures before I threw them away) I smelled them first then took a bite… undercooked INSTANTGRITS!!! I know that instant grits taste like because I HATEINSTANTGRITS. The sausage tasted old so I barley touched that, the only thing that www presentable was the eggs and toast. Yuck yuck yuck never again. I wouldn’t even war donuts from here anymore seeing how nasty the case was, service and the food was NASTY

We’ve been here twice and the donuts were SOGOOD both times! The blueberry cake donuts are infinitely better than Krispy Kreme… and I love those!

Every morning they serve fresh hot glazed donuts ! The best. Better than Krispy Kreme and any other franchises donut place. I love their blueberry cake donuts too, definitely a must try if you have never had it. Terrytown Café is a great spot for breakfast and/or late night snacking. With their new menu additions, I can see them being a lunch spot as well. The mini-cheese burger reminds me of the frozen White Castle burgers my mom use to purchase at Sam’s Club. Ah, nostalgia. Staff is always friendly! Oh, & can’t tip on CC, so bring in a few bucks for tip!

I LOVEDONUTS! Particularly old-fashioned donuts. I’m not a fan of those massive trendy donuts with a bunch of random toppings. Terrytown Café serves up the donuts of my childhood. I got the hot original glazed donut and it was perfection — soft, warm and fluffy. They had your regular donut shop assortment of flavors: original glazed, chocolate glazed, plain cake, sourcream cake, blueberry cake, apple fritters, etc. They also had some other pastries like cinnamon rolls, muffins, and danishes. Everything is super cheap; my donut and small coffee was $ 2.65. Another plus is the fact that this place is bustling, so there is really high turnover and they’re constantly bringing out new trays of fresh donuts. The workers were super sweet despite how busy they were. My friend summed it up really well: this is where the locals go; the trendy new shops Uptown are full of New Orleanians who moved here within the last 5 years(nothing wrong with that — I am clearly one of them). If you’re looking for classic donuts and great service, this is the place to go!

BEST doughnuts I have ever eaten. I’m not exaggerating! They’re ALWAYS fresh and also inexpensive. My sister and I randomly craved doughnuts around 11:45PM, and having them open 24 hours is amazing. There’s honesty no other doughnut that can compare to Terry Town’s. The workers are always sweet and nice. They’re very quick with what you want and need, it’s like you’re in and out under 5 minutes. They also have sliders!!! They’re delicious and I’d recommend them for sure.

This place is a great 24 hour stop! Cheap and good and friendly service to boot! We had 5 mini cheeseburgers, fries, two drinks and two donuts the bill was $ 8.56 after tax! I am glad I had cash because I am a firm believer in being a generous tipper; especially in small cheap diners BEAWARE they don’t have a place for tipping if you use a credit/debit cards. I saw two people but donuts and wanted to tip the sweet girl but they don’t have tipping when you use a credit card and most people who use cards don’t have cash. Try this place! Late night? Want cheap good eats? Sweet tooth for a donut at 1am? Go here! Just remember your tip money if you use cards!

A long-standing, family owned business who just happens to make the best doughnuts in the world. Maybe that’s an overstatement, but it’s definitely the best doughnuts in NOLA; the Times Picayune proved that. Even though the ladies working the front are always busy, they are as sweet as can be. From what I have read, most of the staff had been working there for 20+ years, which is really a testament to the owners of the business. They have a decent variety of doughnuts. My personal favorites are the hot glazed, apple turnovers, and the blueberry muffins. The only negative is the parking situation. People have a habit of parking behind each other and blocking people in, but nobody seems to mind it. Maybe it’s the sense of calm you get when you bite into a piece of their heavenly hot glazed!

This was my first time in and I really enjoyed it. I came from a small town, and this place made me feel like home. I had some of the mini burgers, and I gotta say they hit the spot. I topped off the meal with a chocolate raised donut that practically melted in my mouth. As far as atmosphere goes it’s a tiny little place but that’s part of its charm. The waitress was very friendly and I was immediately served when I walked in which is a big plus for me. I could tell that this was a major staple in people’s lives and coming here was a part of their routine. I felt very comfortable and I will be back to enjoy more of those delicious donuts.

Great donuts for next to nothing pricing! This place has been here for years and it’s no wonder why. Love stopping by here for a quick morning snack. Walk in with 5 $ and walk out with 7+ items! Great Terrytown treasure!

Best doughnuts ever!!! They are open 24Hrs, parking is limited to a small parking lot in front of the store. Their doughnuts are better than Krispy Kreme and you can ask for the glazed only doughnuts to be hot. They serve a variety of flavored glaze, chocolate, buttermilk, king cake, apple fritters and muffins. They also serve food, great and quick service.

A Fresh warm glazed donut from Terrytown Donuts is a taste of my childhood! Every Sunday after mass we would pick up a dozen. In our house, they didn’t last the day(only a house of 4 people). Popped in on a Thursday night, on a whim, was just driving by, and grabbed a glazed donut and small chocolate milk. Perfection. Bad for the hips but good for the soul. Nothing fancy about this café, but a good assortment of fried confections. They serve regular diner food as well, can’t comment on that as I always choose to have a donut, always. If you are in the area, stop in and treat yourself. Is a donut ever a bad idea?

If you’re looking for some cheap bites, coffee, or donuts, this 24-hour joint can hook you up! Right as I walk in, I can already see the fresh, pillow-y donuts seducing me from their shelves. There is a nice assortment of simple goodness, such as glazed, chocolate glazed, buttermilk, apple crumble, powdered, etc. Don’t worry, baby, they’ve got your chocolate covered sprinkle donuts, too! They also have donut holes, muffins, and other pastries as well. I haven’t actually tried any of the real food here, and I might never get the chance if the donuts don’t stop distracting me. Really though, donuts at any hour of the day? There is hope for humanity after all.

There really is nothing I can say to criticize this wonderful little neighborhood gem, except for that I wish I could consume unlimited quantities of their donuts and not weigh 100 pounds more than I do! Their donuts are absolutely delicious, both the raised and the cake varieties. They have filled ones as well, and they are amazing, with just the right amount of filling and glaze and texture to make the whole donut just sublime! Little-known tidbit: they serve a very delicious and inexpensive breakfast before 10:30 weekdays and 11:00 weekends. There’s a breakfast plate with eggs, sausage, toast, and grits for $ 4. That’ll barely get you a breakfast combo at a fast food place, and here you get REAL food… plus you can grab a couple donuts for later. The coffee is always hot and fresh, everything I’ve eaten — and that’s almost the whole menu — is really good! There’s going to be a national brand donut shop opening down the street this year, and I will predict that the Terrytown Café has absolutely nothing to worry about. People who’ve eaten here know: the Terrytown Café makes the national chains’ offerings look pretty sad in comparison. It competes favorably with fast-food breakfast and donuts from donut shops with ease. My only complaint is that the parking situation can be tight during peak times, but that just proves that people like the food and the service here. I’ve not mentioned the service yet, and it measures up to the quality of the product: it’s great! Always a smiling face and very polite, the customers truly feel appreciated and welcome, rather than that they’re a burden, as many other quick service restaurants’ employees can make the patrons feel via their extremely lacking people skills. This has gotten long! I cannot recommend the Terrytown Café strongly enough; just go and give it a try. I bet you’ll be glad you did!

This is probably the best little donut shop on the Westbank. They have all the usuals(glazed, sprinkles, chocolate covered, cake, jelly filled, etc) and they’re open 24 hours, so 2AM donut cravings need never go unanswered. The donuts are fluffy and fresh pretty much any time of day or night, which is impressive when you’re making that late-night run. The coffee is fine– nothing special, but no complaints. They also serve food– including a decent breakfast for fairly cheap.(So you don’t have to subsist on JUST donuts) and they serve it up in a hurry, so no wasted time. Seating is limited– mostly counter seating and a couple of small tables. They have a high chair if you need to contain a little one, but you’ll have to score one of the tables to use it. At Mardi Gras, they also make donut king cakes, which are exactly what they sound like(a king cake made of donut dough) — If you are anti-cinnamon, or just want a change of pace, these are a GREAT alternative to the coffee-cake style king cakes. Most of the time you can walk in and get a donut king cake, no need to order in advance.(If you’re having a party or something and absolutely need a king cake, you might want to call it in first, though.)

This is our first stop out the door when we head down to Parasols for St Patty’s day block party. Need to load up on some grease before the all beer and Jameson binge. I have had the breakfast and mini burgers. Cant go wrong with either. The donuts are really good, perfect when hot and fresh. If you have time or are feeling all breakfasty in T-town, swing by here. You wont be disappointed. Seating can be limited sometimes due to all of the people wearing glittery green on a weekday morning.
