History

Established in 1981.

The salon was originally named Regan’s Hair Salon. Jennifer Boutwell purchased the salon in 2000 from Regan Cheramie and changed the name in 2010 to Salon Sanity. Salon Sanity was chosen as Redken’ s Ultimate Salon Makeover winner in 2010. The salon took on a whole new modern look hence came the name change. The salon has a little piece of New York flair which fits the staffs personality perfect. Thanks to Redken and all of the businesses involved in the makeover. Looking forward to another 20 years!

Business Owner

Jennifer Boutwell has been a stylist for 24 years, owner of the salon for 13 years and is a proud mother of two. Jennifer takes pride in her salon, staff and work. Her passion lies with giving each guest the look they want. Education is a must for Jennifer and her team. Jennifer has various certifications in hair coloring, cutting and styling. She has studied at The Redken Exchange in New York several times as well as attending The Redken Symposium in Las Vegas multiple times. Jennifer’s philosophy is always pay it forward, «I wouldn’t be where I am today without the education, inspiration and help of others, therefore it’s only right that I give back to my family, friends, staff and community.» Jennifer serves on various boards and committees in her community as well as chairing the event «On the Catwalk Hair and Fashion Extravaganza». Jennifer is a hands on owner and her door is always open.

I wore my hair long and home colored it for way too many years. When I decided it was time to go short again I couldn’t convince my hairdresser who was fresh out of school to cut it. She would just cut a few inches at a time. After 3 blunt styless cuts I was sooo frustrated. After reading good reviews about Brandy at Salon Sanity I decided to give her a try. She has me so happy with my hair again. New style new color, it’s amazing what a really good hair stylist csn do. Thanks Brandi.

I just had my hair cut and colored by Brandi and it looks amazing! Like I seriously can’t believe this is my hair! The place is quiet and laid back. Brandi didn’t seem rushed at all, which is very important imho. Overall excellent experience! I will be back!

The salon has a nice atmosphere — chic but laid back. My friend and I needed a place to get our hair and make-​up done for a Mardi Gras ball and she suggested this joint. My hair turned out great (I wish I could remember the stylists name) and my makeup was stunning (thanks, Sunnie!). This would have been 4-​stars, however, I recently tried to make an appointment here. If you work Monday-​Friday from 9 – 5, you’re not likely to find an appointment time that can work for you if you want multiple services. Unless you are willing to give up your Saturday morning or afternoon or work around the stylists schedules.

I have been going to Salon Sanity for many years now to get my hair done. I feel comfortable with any of the ladies there doing my hair. Brandy has been in charge of my color and has picked the right tone every time. Kerry has done my hair on many occasions and I have been pleased every time. Salon Sanity offers a nice, comfortable, clean and professional environment. I usually don’t write reviews, but felt the need to do so after reading Customer R’s review. If you had already written your review why go back and add more about somebody else’s experience? Can this mentioned co-​worker not type HER OWN review if she has such a bad experience? My intentions are not bad.

I asked for Brandi to give me a cute pixie short hair cut. I have a LOT of hair so this was no easy task. But Brandi was so patient with making sure my hair was cut just how I wanted it and she even took her time thinning out my gigantic head of hair until I looked really hot. I give her and the Salon 5 stars. The best service one could ask for and the price was very good.

I’ve been going here for 5 years now to see Brandi and LOVE HER! I’ve had some pretty crap experiences with hair stylists (I once had a lady ask me, when I went in to get a very short style, if I realized I wouldn’t be able to put my hair in a ponytail anymore. Needless to say, she wasn’t very good) and every time I find a good one they end up moving or changing professions. I went into Salon Sanity bc it was linked professionally by a job I had at the time and she happened to be available. Not only does she actually LISTEN to me when I say what I want to do with my hair but she’s damn good at what she does. I have never once been disappointed with her work. I’m big on long layers for my hair and knows how to give the style body without making me look like I should be the long lost female member of Poison. I have brought my son to her and suggested her to several friends who were all pleased as punch with their hair. Also, she’s not pushy or too personal, which is huge for me.
As for the salon itself the place is great! Everyone is not only nice, but helpful. I have always felt like I was treated respectfully and with kindness when I walked in and when I left. They have a great supply of products you can purchase on site. The place is kept clean and tidy, and the design is fun and modern. The staff makes you feel welcome and are not pushy for product purchases while still mentioning things that may help make your hair care regiment easier and more effective.
A true testiment to how much I love my hair stylist as well as this place is that I live in Lakeview but will still drive to the Westbank just to get my hair done here.
Do I have a complaint? Yes, I do. Brandi seems to have to same off days as me so it makes it difficult to get in with her. If only everyone else would realize the world revolves around me life would be so much easier…

I have been getting my hair done by Brandi for years! Even before she was with Salon Sanity, she is the only person i have ever trusted to touch my hair. My hair is super resilient and can be extremely stubborn at times. However, Brandi has always found a way to make my hair beautiful, and manageable! She is extremely professional, and polite, as well as fashion saavy. She is constantly educating herself on new skills and techniques to help her grow in her field. Brandi is always helpful answering any and all of my questions concerning a hair service i want to get done, and never steers me down a path that will damage my hair. I have never left the salon feeling anything less than beautiful, and i put my whole trust in what she does to my hair is completely necessary. Keep up the great work Brandi, you are phenomenal with all that you do!

I have been going to Salon Sanity for a few years now and Brandi always does my hair, whether it’s a trim, style for an event, or a drastic color/​cut. She has always listened to me and knows how picky I am with my bangs so she always asks before trimming them. I always leave happy with smooth, gorgeous hair. Brandi also helps me pick out products that help me style my hair at home. I don’t know where I would be without her!

I felt pretty fancy going here for my first ever facial. I didn’t even really know what to expect or what a facial entailed, so I went in completely blind.
When I met Sunny, the esthetician, she immediately seemed really nice and put me at ease. She lead me to a small room, and after a few questions and a minute to get comfortable, the facial began.
She started with some nice aroma therapy. She then proceeded to put all kinds of stuff on my face and upper body. I have no idea what it was, but it was really relaxing. My favorite part was definitely when she wrapped my face in hot towels and then massaged my arms and shoulders. I seriously could have fallen asleep. The towels completely blocked out everything else in the room and the heat relaxed all of the muscles in my face. In fact, I’m going to start wrapping my face in towels regularly– just for fun. I left with skin that felt amazing and fresh.
My experience was fantastic and I would absolutely go back for another facial. I got the 30 minute one this time, but they also have an hour one that I would love to try.

Great salon. Very clean and all the stylists are friendly and professional. I’ve been getting my hair cut and colored for 5 years and have never had a bad experience. I usually go to Kailyn and Kerri for my hair needs. I have fairly long and thick hair and I still am in and out in about 2hrs for cut full set highlights and style!!! The prices are on par with most salons throughout the city. They also offer waxing, mani’s, and makeup application.

Whenever my mom and I want to have a girly morning of getting our hair done when I’m home visiting, this is our spot. (My mom, who has really high standards when it comes to getting hair done, is a regular here.) Jennifer, the owner, has done my hair each time and did a fantastic job. I like getting the edgier cuts that involve razorblades to get funky layers, and she’s great at those. She’s also a whiz when it comes to styling post-​cut — she made what started as my crazy newscaster-​like hair actually look sleek and polished. I was so thrilled by the result that I couldn’t stop staring at myself in the mirror… I guess a little narcissism doesn’t hurt every now and then!
