History

Established in 1984.

Dan Burghardt Insurance Agency was started in April, 1984 so Dan Burghardt could provide affordable insurance coverage to clients that the big national companies did not want as customers. Mr. Burghardt always believed that anyone who needed insurance should be able to buy it, regardless of their circumstances, at the lowest price available.

This commitment to the needs of all clients was rewarded with a positive community response that created rapid growth for the agency, going from one small residential office in 1984 to 6 commercial sales locations in 2005 covering the entire New Orleans area from Chalmette to LaPlace, employing 45 people and serving the needs of over 12,000 clients.

Hurricane Katrina in 2005 created some temporary setbacks. But, with our persistent efforts to serve our clients immediately after the storm, we have been rewarded by the community with a return to 5 locations selling a braod range of insurance products for individuals, families and businesses.

From the days as a boy riding with his dad selling industrial life and burial insurance, Dan Burghardt had a passion for satisfying the insurance needs of the public.

Dan began his career selling life and health products for a large national company in 1971. Through his early and unwaivering commitment to his clients he quickly became one of the company’s top agents in New Orleans. By the late 1970s, wanting to provide more than just a few products, he moved to a new company, enabling him to fulfill the car and home insurance needs of his customers.

Even then, Dan was not satisfied. There were too many people who did not qualify for the company he worked for, so in 1984 he opened Dan Burghardt Insurance Agency so he could provide the promiose of insurance coverage to anyone who needed it, and has since worked tirelessly to fulfill that promise.

Dan’s efforts have been THE major reason that Dan Burghardt Insurance is now the largest multi-​line agency of its kind in New Orleans.
