Richard has or can get what you need. It’s just that simple at the Striking Image Pro Shop! And… he’s not a bowling snob like you get in some shops. Richard is a down to earth, fun, caring guy who has bowling knowledge out the proverbial wazoo. But, he doesn’t talk out of said wazoo. It’s real knowledge you’ll get, about products, techniques, companies, pros and just about anything else you can think of.
Wife and I had Richard drill the new bowling balls we’d purchased online (I didn’t know Richard yet) and were very impressed when he didn’t overcharge us like all the other pro shops in east Multnomah county wanted to (I know because I called them). He drilled the balls well and told us if we had any issues to bring them back. I had a slight issue that required my thumb hole to be placed differently (it was me, not the job) and he put it right where it needed to be.
Naturally, when I wanted to buy another bowling ball, I went to Richard first. In pricing it through him, including drilling and inserts, I got a better price for the whole package than I’d get if I bought it online and had it drilled locally (for those who don’t know, a custom bowling ball must be sized to your hand before being drilled; something you just can’t get online). So, my new Hammer Taboo is coming this week and I’m reaaaaally looking forward to continuing to suck at bowling at a whole new performance level!

Richard punched holes into my most awesomest new toy ever and he did it right! He’s the guy that is doing a million things all at the same time including selling bowling shoes and equipment, to watching bowlers test out his bowling balls, to instructing you on how to bowl. He’s also got the gift of gab and can keep you entertained all at the same time. It’s not your normal way to do business where you head to the register and purchase an item and you are off. Nope, and forget appointments basically. This shop works on a multi-​task oriented system but hey, it works!
I got my bowling shoes so I did not have to share sweaty feet with other people. I then started thinking about all the unwashed hand masses and that immediately got me all jiggy about germs. I knew I had to get my own ball after I grossed myself out.
My bowling ball feels great in my hands and am looking forward to our new relationship in the alley.

I’m the worst bowler in the Pacific Northwest, but I’ve got a pro shop. Yeah man, Striking image is my pro shop. It’s a small place, a little larger a than a walk-​in closet, but with the efficient use of shelves they’ve managed to line the walls with bowling balls and shoes. There’s a little workshop behind the counter where they’ll drill your ball too.
Richard runs the place — he’s the pro. I’ve been waiting for my new bowling ball to arrive, and the best I can tell, it’s at a truck stop somewhere in Alabama or Mississippi, so I’ve been talking to Richard about drilling options. Drilling patterns involve heavy duty Newtonian physics and spherical geometry, which I’m too lazy to wrap my brains around, so I just tell Richard I want to throw it at the second arrow and hit the pocket. He does the f (x) thing and drills the ball.
I bought a pair of shoes from him, and while I was trying them on, I saw the Dude walk by drinking a White Russian — really!
