Dogwood Pet Hospital

Dogwood Pet Hospital is simply amazing. I’ve NEVER had one bad experience with either Dr Klau or Dr Hawkins. The entire staff for that matter is incredible. The moment you walk in you know you’re in good hands.
My english bulldog, Charlie, recently had emergency surgery that had to be performed at a different hospital due to the timing of the incident. Dr Klau found out about his surgery and immediately called me to make sure that everything was okay. He was genuinely concerned and it was so thoughtful for him to call. He made sure that I knew he was available if we needed anything at all. It was awesome. Since the surgery he’s called to see how Charlie is recovering and I can’t tell you how awesome that makes us feel.
Everyone at Dogwood, and I mean everyone, is incredible and I would recommend them to anybody. You’re in great hands at this place.

A couple weeks ago, my cat turned 11. We’ve been using dogwood for her whole life and, being that her life had been so long, I thought it necessary to take her in just to make sure she’s doing alright. This time, I saw Dr. klau (although I know Dr. Hawkins as Chuck) and he was just as cute as my grandma had said. He was super helpful too! I found out that because I’ve stuck with dogwood and used their specialty cat food, my cat is as healthy as a two year-​old.
This place is great, it’s clean and friendly and you can even have a free cup of coffee (or hot chocolate, which is my preference).

We took our cat here for the first time and it was a very good experience. We scheduled with Dr. Klau. He was very patient and answered all of our many questions. My cat is my baby and I’m very picky about how people interact with him. The doctor has some kind of cat magic. My cat was totally calm around him. I got a feline leukemia and feline aids test done there and the results in 20 minutes! In the past I’ve had to wait at least three days.
The place was very clean and the staff was friendly. I will be coming here from now on.

I recently moved to Gresham from the Seattle area and was not looking forward to the process of trying to find a great Vet to take my furry friend to. Based upon the great reviews and distance to where I live, I decided to test my luck and take my dog to Dogwood.
I was so thrilled and relieved! From when I walked into the door to stepping out the door my expericene was top notch. The gal at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The Vet we saw was Dr. Klau, he was terrific! My dog is a 3 year old Lab, so he was a bit of a wiggle worm. Dr. Klau was very patient with him, when most vets I have seen tend to get a little frustrated and seem rushed.
Dr. Klau was very informative and set a plan to help get my dogs allergy issue resolved. I will most definitely keep going back to them and I highly recommend them to anyone searching for a Vet who is informative and cares about your pet!

Took our elderly dog here because of the Great reviews on Unilocal.Our chow had snapped a toe nail and Aside from the blood and the fact that it was hanging at a very strange angle, the broken nail was obviously causing her significant pain. We fully expected to pay a $ 300 – 500 fee by the time we were done getting an updated rabies vaccination, cost of sedation, surgery, wraps, and antibiotics. The Dr. was up front and stated they may just be able to rip the nail off, in which case some antibiotics would be all she needed. By the time we were heading out the door, we paid ONLY for ripping the nail off and using a Dremmel to clean it up. The doc even admitted at that point that the drugs would be over kill and something we didn’t need. So, our visit went from an easy $ 300 to $ 46. Thanks Dogwood!!!

Dogwood is a wonderful vet. Prices are average, and the care is beyond good. The whole staff is a team and they are treating my older dog for heart disease and my new puppy. they have a great pet interactive website and I’m really impressed with the service and care I have received for my beloved pets.

I grew up going with my parents to take our pets to Dr. Hawkins and the staff of Dogwood Pet Hospital. 20 years later with five pets of my own now, I continue to bring them all here. Very caring, knowledgeable and thorough. They are more than happy to go over any questions or concerns you may have regarding your pet and his/​her health. I trust all of the staff here and I know that my four-​legged «kids» are in good hands whenever they are here.

We moved to Gresham for one year so we had to change Vets. We started with Dogwood because they were recommended by Petco. We had to take one of our dogs there for almost the whole year for the same skin infection. They could not treat it right, but of course they could charge us each month. They even wanted us to get tests to see if the dog was allergic to something. After getting a new Vet it was cleared up very quickly, within six weeks.
To make matters worse we had took our cats there for shots right before we moved away. We told them not to give them an optional shot. They gave them the shot anyways without our knowledge and consent. We did not realize it until they gave us the bill. The Vet would not remove the charge stating that they had to charge us even though it was done without our consent.
Our new Vet charged us about half the price and was much better. In fact if I could do it over again I would have traveled the 45 minutes back to our original Vet in Sherwood.

We visited Dogwood for shots for our cat. The staff were friendly, and the Vet seemed competent. I would have given it 5 stars, but the prices were definitely higher than our old vet in Vancouver. But, it is a nice place, and it is in the neighborhood, so we will probably be back.

When my dog was a puppy he had an abusive experience with a vet. Since that incident he has always been a bit tense going to the vet. Dogwood Pet Hospital relieved him of all his anxiety.
My dog saw both Dr Prull and Dr Hawkins, though I think he saw Dr Prull more often. Both are very knowledgeable and have a love for animals that really shows.

I went here based on a Unilocal review and it makes me realize more and more how reliable this site can be.
I have not seen Dr. Prull but I have heard she’s great. But I have seen Dr. Hawkins many times now and he’s simply a fantastic vet! He’s professional and through. He cares for your pet just as he would his own. He gave me all the options, ones that he recommends, and ones he doesn’t necessarily recommend. But that’s what I like, he let me choose. Phoenix the kitten is now in perfect health!
Just because I haven’t mentioned the rest of the staff does not mean that they are not simply awesome, because they are. Über friendly and helpful, they will get to know, and love your pet. Oh, for the guys out there, the female staff there are really cute just fyi.
Also, I would expect the fees to be higher because of how professional and caring they are but was surprised to find that they were not. I hope this pet hospital doesn’t change, it rocks!
