Food isn’t too bad… it better than some I’ve had. The margaritas are super strong however. You’ll only need a small one. The thing that would make this place better is the customer service.

It’s OK, not really my favorite anymore… it was welcome when it arrived, but they have seriously lost the quality… the patio was great, but now it’s hardly open or has service… Let’s just throw in the towel…

If you are reading this, please save your money and go ELSEWHERE. I just finished leaving this place, and it was so awful I had to write a review. To start, our waiter couldn’t even greet us with a smile as he sat us down. Why be in the business of serving people if you hate it? Do not ruin it for the people that go out to eat on weekends to enjoy a nice evening out. Anyways, I decided to order the steak a la carte tacos, since I was not in the mood for rice and beans. When the tacos came, they were pathetic. There was barely ANY meat on the tacos themselves, instead they were full of lettuce that tasted like it came straight from the freezer. The lettuce was simply indelible and had to be removed from the tacos. I wish I would have taken a picture of the horrible food. From there, the server never came back to check on us, give us more water, or see if wanted anything else. When we got the bill, those pathetic tacos were almost 6 dollars each!!! It would have been cheaper to get the taco place, and not eat the rice and beans. I do not mind ever spending money on quality food, but taco bell tastes better than the food at this restaurant. By far the WORST restaurant I have EVER been to in Colorado. Save your money and time people, go somewhere else!

Meh. I ate her today for the first time. The food was only OK. The service was fast and good but the chips seemed a bit stale and the tacos were just not very good.

I had the Mexican hamburger which was a switch up for me. I was not impressed my food was barely warm and the taste didn’t hit my plait right. The atmosphere was typical chairs and tables of a Mexican restaurant. The menu was kind of pricey for what you got wasn’t even warm. I really love Mexican food but this was not.

Mexican food is not my first choice when it comes to choosing a restaurant, but this one wasnt too bad. I was about to sweep this place under the «meh» rug until I saw something on the menu that is not typically offered at other Mexican restaurants. A dish they call the «Mexican Hamburger». It was a rather large and thick hamburger patty tucked into a flour tortilla shell, smothered in cheese with lettuce and diced tomato on the side along with Spanish rice. Points for having something different rather than the same old boring stuff on the menu as other Mexican places.

Used to frequent this place often, honestly it’s the only decent sudo-​mexican food in Littleton. The food is basic «tex mex», nothing super special. I usually ordered the vegetarian option; cheese enchilada, veggie tamale with black beans/​rice. I would give the food 3 ½, maybe 4 stars on a decent night.
I think in the food industry, restaurants should just be honest with the hours they want to «be open». If you have 9:00pm as your closing time, you should stick to that. If you want to start cleaning early and get out at 9:00pm, that is different… maybe closing hours should be 8:45pm. Do you get it? Señor Sol, CHANGE YOUR HOURS TO 8:45.
I get it, restaurant industry people think it’s some unspoken thing «oh you don’t go in after a certain time, because of the time it takes to close a restaurant, complain about moping, cleaning, blah blah blah». Get out of the restaurant industry if you don’t like it and change your hours to the time you really mean. Pretty simple. Its stupid actually.
The dude with the mop, that usually brings your water, chips, and salsa, who is usually pretty nice, all though not really, was a total dick tonight (fuck off, dude with the mop). This place isn’t worth it for some basic enchiladas, but if you must, just don’t go passed 8:00pm!!! Not going back after tonight, not after being treated so rudely, not, ever. I’m sure you don’t care El Señor sol. C’est la vie.

Average Mexican restaurant. Pretty empty on on Monday evening. The décor is nice and the place is clean. I agree with other reviews that the service needs some work on attention and friendliness, but the food was good (not amazing nor a huge amount of flavor, but good).
Prices are a bit on the steep side for the quality of service you get, so this will be a consideration when deciding if I’ll return. There are other Mexican restaurants in the area (namely, La Fogata) that have better pricing, much better service, and much better food.
What to order?
–Margaritas were just okay (house runs $ 7.30, for happy hour until 6pm its $ 2 less).
–Chicken, spinach, and mushroom quesadilla was good and a healthy option, served with black beans. ($ 11)
–Cheese enchiladas did not disappoint and was pleased lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. ($ 10)
–Queso fonduto was very meaty and greasy, I did not prefer, but my friends enjoyed it. ($ 7)

I second previous comments — if you’re not getting the fries carnitas burrito, you’re missing out! It’s HUGE, we ate it for lunch and dinner. The salsa verde was amazing, and there had to be a pound of delicious, juicy carnitas in there. Highly recommend.

I was staying in a DTC hotel, without a car, and was needing some hangover-​curing Mexican food. Since El Señor Sol was within walking distance, I decide to give it a shot.
I had the taco fiesta, which consisted of three different tacos. The pork taco was greasy and un-​appetizing, but the beef and chicken tacos were both quite tasty. Nothing was super good, but nothign was terrible either. The chips were okay and the salsa was delicious. It had good heat and lots of flavor.
I’d eat here again, but only if it was within walking distance and I didn’t have a car… again.

I went to El Senior Sol tonight and really regret my decision. It was average Mexican food in the past and it had been long enough that I forgot how bad it was and figured I would try it again. The first sign was when we sat down our table was dirty, which ok that’s forgivable I guess. Then it took 10 minutes for our waiter to come over and take our order (there were only three tables in our section). The chips and salsa were good enough, but I was hungry so my barometer was pretty low. We ordered two combo dinners and when it came out it was the most bland Mexican food I have ever tasted and I eat a lot of Mexican food. The chicken in the enchiladas and the ground beef in the tacos tasted old and I really regret eating there. We just got home and feel sick to our stomachs. After about 30 minutes into our meal our waiter comes over to our table (hey his shift wasn’t over and he didn’t leave for the night) and asks how everything is. His hands were full of dirty, nasty dishes right next to my face and my wife just starts laughing because the service sucks so bad.
When our bill came… actually we had to go to the bar since our waiter was nowhere to be found, it was $ 65 and I really wished we would have gone somewhere else tonight. Seriously go somewhere else, La Fogata up the road, Rio, Chipolte or even Taco Bell, just don’t come here! This location is close to our house and it is unfortunate that it sucks so bad! It used to be average, but has gone downhill to the point where the food is inedible. Don’t make the same mistake of eating here.

If you eat here and do not order the fried burrito with Carnitas… you are missing out. By far, the most delicious carnitas I have ever had. Tender, seasoned well and out of this WORLD!!! Staff is super kind and everything came very quickly. BEST CARNITAS IN THE DTC!!!

Had the Fiesta Tacos and they were amazing! Friendly service, nice environment. Not sure why they have only 3 stars in general. Big win in my opinion!

We finally found the Chile Con Queso we’ve been looking for and loved it! The lunch prices are reasonable. The Guac was a little bland but we mixed it with the salsa and were very happy. We will definitely be back for more!

Green chili is wow! Ask for extra spicy. Blow. Your. Mind. Best green chili in town!

El Señor Sol is a cute restaurant with average food. The tamales are delicious, burritos not so much. The enchiladas are smothered in a red sauce and would be much better in green chili. The guacamole made table side lacks flavor and punch. It could use some tomatoes and a bit of heat, we poured lots of salsa in but it still was bland. Chile relleno was very good. Good service but a bit slow.

I really love this place. Huge margaritas that are really good, chips and salsa with a good amount of spice to it. Friendly and prompt service. I always order something small since the margaritas fill me up. I got chicken quesadilla last time and it was perfection.

Good food, good drinks, great with my kids. I’m a big fan of their outside space.

El Señor Sol restaurant is okay. I didnt realize it was a chain. I like going to Mexican restaurants that aren’t really chains. So it was your typical cookie cutter chain restaurant. I wasn’t wowed, but i wasnt upset about it either. I had the cheese enchilada plate which was pretty good. My husband had his favorite mexican dish, carne asada. He was quite unimpressed sadly. The staff were friendly enough, and it was a nice relaxing atmosphere. Maybe we’ll give it another go.

This place has quickly became me and my wife’s go to Mexican place. Friendly staff, great salsa, fajitas are also top shelf! Looking forward to our next Friday outing after a long week for a margarita and some great great food. Oh yes fried ice cream is so good! Can’t wait to come back!

Wanted to try this restaurant since it is close to home plus they offer 1000 points on OpenTable. Went for dinner before going to the Mayan Exhibit at the Denver Nature and Science Museum.
Were seated right away and were able to order $ 2 draft beer of Modelo Negro (great price during Happy Hour).
Ordered the Burrito Supreme (carnitas) with everything on the side since I didn’t know how spicy the green chili would be (it was just right for my taste. It was loaded with so much tender tasty meat and was delicious.
Calina ordered the taco salad and it was good but she would have preferred a little more lettuce.
To complete the meal, ordered the sopapillas and coffee. There were about five on the plate (enough to share) and were good.

All in all, good food and good service for a reasonable price.

The only thing that saves this from a 2 star «Meh» rating is the pregnant burrito. That thing is so disgusting and delicious all at the same time, that it actually becomes craveable, and this is the only place I know that has them on their menu. (For the record it’s a crispy chile relleno inside a bean and cheese burrito, smothered with green chile and more cheese.)
The service here was so insanely slow for Mexican food I could hardly believe it. It took more than an hour and a half to get through lunch! We waited a very long time for our food, which was disappointing but at least it came out hot. They seemed to have enough servers, just maybe a backed up kitchen today?
Otherwise, this place is mostly just meh with predictable food. I’ve never tried their margaritas, but based on other reviews probably won’t. I met a friend here for lunch, and it’s the first time I’ve been to an El Señor Sol in more than a year, so it’ll likely be another year or so before the pregnant burrito craving hits again!

Wanted to try something new so we found this place. The food was marginal. The specialty margaritas were good. The fried ice cream was really good. The service was nice but incredibly slow. I found myself catching their attention as they walked by the doorway for small things like plates to share the appetizer. We were 1 of 3 tables in the place so it was not because they were too busy.
We tried it because it was a 1,000 point table on OpenTable, and that’s the only reason we’d go back.

Not a bad spot… menudo is super meaty… chips and salsa are good and the margarita made me warm with tequila delight. I need a couple of more visits to recommend it.

A friend of mine came here for dinner the other night and mentioned that the green chili tasted normal again. We decided to go for lunch the next day (as I really wanted to give it a 2^nd chance since I’m such a huge fan). So glad we did because it was as delicious as it always was. So happy!!!
I still can’t wait for my home location (university) to reopen. Really miss that spot and the fantastic employees!!!

HOLY GUACAMOLE!
This place hit the spot completely when the boyfriend and I were on the hunt for some neighborhood Mexican joints and this one didn’t disappoint! Here goes:
Star 1 = Service was fast, friendly and very helpful. When we had difficulty choosing some food on the menu, the server graciously told us her favorite dish and one that was the most unique… which we ordered :)
Star 2 = The patio is the perfect spot to catch a sunset or soak up the warm sun. They even have a fountain!
Star 3 = The food is to die for. I absolutely love mexican food and trying new dishes. Our server suggested we try the carnitas in their taco trio and HOLY. it was outstanding, perfectly seasoned, cooked to perfection and was absolutely amazing! The chimi’s were decent, but nothing out of the ordinary. The margs were fantastic and they even offer a 60oz margarita! wow!
Star 4 = This location is super close to me and offers a neighborhood feel. Many of the patrons were treated like family and it seemed to be the local watering hole amongst friends!
I knock one star off for prices. Being that mexican food is usually pretty cheap or decently priced, i was surprised to see our two dishes and margaritas were $ 50. yowza! Next time, I think we’ll split a meal :)
