Crazy all the bad reviews people have posted. I have nothing but good things to say about this company! This company actually is my favorite insurance co I’ve ever dealt with– I had Kaiser before health op and have Cigna now and everything from billing/​what’s been covered/​customer service reps/​not sitting on hold forever… They even called connect for health for me while I was one the phone with them to get the mess connect for health caused — straightened out. 5stars in my book!!! Would no doubt go back to them if they came back around! Not to mention cheapest /​best coverage compared to other companies!

The worst healthcare service provider I have ever experienced. Multiple doctors in their database do not exist when you call providers.

It only got worse. Glad they are being denied renewal by the state.
I needed meds for RA otherwise I’m in extreme pain, cant work and bed ridden. My specialist couldn’t get them approved. They would only approve a cheap med that didn’t work for me and caused extreme side effects including possibly liver failure. Went through all appeals and got different answers from everyone I talked to.
Their review was by a internal med doc not a specialist. He not only refused my med but apparently did read my med history as to why. Thought I had a illness I didn’t have and suggested an out dated treatment for the illness I didn’t have that would actually have cost over $ 100,000 in meds alone and caused severe problems. What a joke.
They don’t put clients first as is their slogan touts. Even now with only 30 days left they still don’t care and want to save money. They should be sued in a class action suit for issues like This as I’m sure I’m not the only one. They are actually hurting people with their incompetence and indifference.

UPDATE:
Colorado Healthop is also ILLEGALLY attempting to charge me every month. I have called them over 3 times to tell them to quit charging me, they do NOT have my authorization. I ended up having to cancel my credit card and reissue a new one with a different number because they will not stop illegally attempting to charge me for insurance. THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN.

I don’t normally feel this kind of vitriol for a business, but these guys border on fraud. As you’ll read from several of the reviews here, they have a serious issue with their auto-​pay system (once you’re on, you’ll never get off of it), deceptive and confusing plan options, and general inability (or lack of desire) to help you with any issues.
I’ve had to actually cancel my card to prevent further charges, despite my account having been terminated back in July. Every time I call, it’s «Oh yes, we see you’re cancelled, and we’ll refund those other months soon.» No refund yet and I’m not holding my breath.
Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if I saved money using their plan. Wanna guess how much their coverage saved me? Absolutely nothing. They didn’t cover a single thing. Doesn’t matter if you’re in network or out of network, you’d actually be better off paying out of pocket with NO insurance, then going with this garbage.
Sad and sickening that you can’t provide decent, modernised healthcare to people in ways that don’t make their lives more complicated and stressful.

It feels like I’m just beating a dead horse at this point since my health insurer, Colorado Health Co-​Op, is pulling the plug on insurance coverage. Nevertheless I feel compelled to offer my 2 ¢ on the plan I have had almost 2 years.
At first glance this insurance seemed like a good option for me. It cost about $ 330/​month and offered coverage in case of a major medical event. It also offered some coverage for annual check-​ups and preventative care procedures.
Right off the bat I had trouble with them when they didn’t credit me for the January 2014 premium payment. Although I eventually got it settled, they omitted the payment on IRS Form 1095-​A which is used to determine the tax credit. In the end, I never got the credit refund for the first month’s payment.
One big problem is that I was never sure which doctors accepted this insurance. Sometimes they would say ‘yes’ but then after the doctor visit, I found out otherwise. In other cases I could use some doctors in a particular practice, but not others. In one case the physician’s fee was covered, but none of the other charges like a medical test or work by someone else in the office.
I also had a difficult time getting them to pay for medical procedures that were supposed to be covered. I ended up having to pay nearly $ 2,000 in health care costs out of my own pocket that were touted as preventative care on their website. And one claim they recently did pay took 11 months to get squared away. It took a lot of phone calls, faxes, and follow-​up to get a straight-​forward claim settled.
In the end Colorado Health Co-​Op seemed to put more emphasis on marketing and cheerful brochures than actually operating a stable, reliable insurer. And now I have to change health insurance providers yet again for the new year. 2 stars seems generous.

There’s always something wrong: can’t login, am not billed properly, can’t set up recurring billing, denied a claim, won’t accept appeals via email. They’re nice on the phone hence the second star, but that’s about it, they aren’t good at what they do. They say they «put customers first,» but it’s untrue.

I found the plan to be misleading. The plan covers only in network providers, and these change frequently. Also, although your doctor or hospital is be in network, the services they use (labs etc) may not be in network. I also found the deductible and out of pocket maximums to be misleading. The customer service representatives seem to be capable people.

So far the have been everything my family has needed… I couldn’t ask for better coverage for the price we are paying. I would love to see an affordable family plan price with adult prevention services added in.

I am disgusted with this organization. They strain for ways to avoid coverage. It seems like a mismanaged company that is poorly organized and looking for any way to cut corners. All corner cutting is at the expense of the customer of course. My family has had nothing but trouble from them. They dither and stall while we suffer. I was taken in by their non-​profit status, but what does that matter if they take your money and give shoddy service in return? This was a referral from Connect for Health Colorado-that’s the last time I will ask them for advice.

Absolutely horrible company! I purchased the policy thru Connect for Health Colorado… I was told at the time that my advanced premium tax credits would pay the monthly premium in full! Big surprise, I received a bill for the 1^st month premium! I’ve spent countless hours on the phone with both Connect for health Colorado, and Colorado Healthop trying to resolve the issue. A few days ago I received a notice that my policy was cancelled due to non-​payment! What an absolute joke! Again, I picked up the phone and spent an hour being transferred from one person to another… the final result was that I would need to wait until November for open enrollment to begin in order to purchase another policy! I am completely disgusted with the new health care system!!! What good are tax credits if you can’t use them?

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! I recently moved to Denver from S. California. An insurance agent in Denver assured me that the Bison PPO with Colorado HealthOP was the best on the market. If that’s true, I pity the fool. The provider is impossibly bureaucratic and obtuse. Typically websites with grammatical errors and misspelled words are indicators of a poorly managed business. When I first went to the site it appeared that no one had bothered to proofread a single word. I should have trusted my instincts and moved on. What in California is a simple process, specifically filling prescriptions, is so cumbersome and annoying, that I often pay out of pocket simply to avoid jumping through all of the hoops and obstacles that I’ve been forced to deal with. If you travel, don’t even think about using this company. They limit the supply of medications you can purchase to 30 days. so if you’re out of the country or traveling for any period of time you’re sh! t out of luck. They will encourage you to use the mail order service where you can get a 90 day supply. Not true. I can’t count the number of times they have denied to fill my order. As far as affordability, it’s not. I pay over $ 500 a month and $ 1000’s in out of pocket expenses. I would change providers in a New York minute if I could. Don’t ignore the other reviewers. It really is as bad as they indicate. Co-​ops should stick to selling produce and apartment buildings.

I don’t know who they are kidding. This is not insurance. I am constricted to weld county to stay in network, yet no one is weld county will take this insurance. Probably because they don’t pay. I’m changing as soon as the open period begins. I have been paying the premiums for this useless insurance and still paying out of pocket for everything. It’s a scam, please don’t fall for it. I’m new to this area and should have read more reviews. They don’t even cover what they say they cover in their own materials. How can this be legal? Advertising that your plan covers certain things, then denying payment is bait and switch and illegal.

Okay, so I’ve had a review of this company written since January but have delayed posting to see if maybe it was just startup issues. But this company has pretty much pushed me to the breaking point. I’m pretty much counting the months until I can get away from them.
The latest issue: I went to a new provider for a check up. I asked the new provider whether insurance would cover a potentially expensive procedure. They said they’d call Colorado HealthOp.
So a few days later, someone from the office of my new doctor called sounding very cold and pretty much scolded me for not paying my insurance premiums. (Hello, HealthOp, I’m on Autopay.) Apparently the rep from HealthOp told them that I habitually don’t pay my premiums, and that, quote, «I might not pay the doctor’s office either.» Great. Just what I want my new doctor hearing. Isn’t that a HIPAA violation, by the way?
So I had to grovel to my new doctor and explain that this is like the third month in a row that HealthOp has screwed up my Autopay. Then I had to call HealthOp and throw like my 90^th unholy fit, which is pretty much the only way you can get their lazy customer service people to life a finger.
HealthOp did their usual Band-​Aid fix. I believe they also called the doctor’s office (after I told them to) and explained that it was their mistake, and I was not an irresponsible indigent as they had previously stated.
HealthOp did not circle back with me to make sure the problem was resolved. (They never do, in my experience.)
The next month, I got a nasty gram from HealthOp in the mail telling them that I was behind on my payments and they were about to terminate me. HELLO IDIOTS. I’m still on autopay. Why in the name of god can’t you get this right after like five tries?
Seriously, this is the worst, most incompetent healthcare company you can imagine. It’s to the point where I’m collecting documentation and considering opening a complaint with the insurance commission. I really don’t think they should be in business.
Counting down the days until this nightmare ends and I can switch back to some soulless corporate entity.

(Jan 2015) I may be back to update this review based on how things turn out, but having been a member for exactly two days, I already have some pretty serious concerns about this company.
Be warned: if you are a member of the EPO, you may still NOT have access to the entire EPO physician network as displayed on their site.
I spent hours researching the right orthopedist for my knee injury (working from their EPO physician list), but when I actually called to make an appointment, I was told that they do not actually take may particular version of the EPO.
Apparently they have multiple «tiers» of EPOs, some of which don’t have access to all the physicians they list, although this is never disclosed to you when you are signing up, and apparently no way to know which physicians until you try to make an appointment.
I actually work in the healthcare industry, so I’ve been following some of the issues that other states are having with EPOs. For example, Anthem/​WellPoint is currently being sued/​investigated in California for misrepresenting the size of their network to their EPO customers.
When I asked the customer service rep who exactly I could see, she gave me the name of a back specialist. Earth to HealthOp: not all orthopedists work on the same part of the body.
Their only solution offered was to switch me the PPO at my own expense.

So far, I love CO HealthOp. I am happy to support an organization that cares more about the health of its members than dollars. Seems like a few administrative, behind-​the-​scenes hiccups still need to be ironed out, but nothing we can’t deal with if it means not sending our hard-​earned money to a for-​profit insurance company. We opted to go for a slightly more expensive PPO plan (Bison Flex) so that we could have more flexibility with our doctors. Neither of us require care from specialists, which seems like a major complaint from other folks (the availability of specialists), so I can’t speak to that.

So I have been trying to contact Colorado Health Op regarding my insurance for this year, yet not a single person at this company is willing to help me. Colorado Health Op has been taking money out of my account despite not properly enrolling me in insurance for this year. I was told was all set up numerous times when calling the help line, and I was even promised a new insurance card in the mail about three weeks ago. Still have not seen my insurance card, yet you guys are still sending bills to my house. I can’t pick up my prescription, everyone at this awful company refuses to answer my phone calls. I would love for someone at this company to reach out to me as I have been attempting to get a prescription for almost two months now. This insurance company is nothing but useless.

Do not think that the person who responded to this review helped me one bit. I sent her an email like she said and never heard back. This is the worst insurance you will ever find in the history of insurance companies, which is a feat. NEVER GET THIS INSURANCE.

Horrible, I switched from Rocky Mt Health care which was great, when it went from affordable ($ 7/​month) to unaffordable ($ 359/​month) for the exact same plan. Colorado healthop was new this year and the most affordable (with a way higher deductible and way higher co pay) but I couldn’t afford a 5000% increase so I went for the 140% increase. 1^st they told me my deductible was $ 500 and that is what my insurance card says, now they say it’s $ 1000, and then they only pay 60%. Isn’t it illegal to sendcme a card with one deductible printed on it and then double it?

Yep, still horrible. I found a Primary Care doctor that would take this insurance — had to wait six weeks for a checkup appointment. Two days before the appointment the PCP’s office calls and cancels. They had so many problems with Colorado HealthOP that they decided they could no longer accept it. They were very apologetic but absolutely refused to see me — said there were major billing and reimbursement issues with Colorado HealthOP.
I’ve had doctors change up their insurance networks before. But I have never had one suddenly drop coverage and cite my carrier’s incompetence as their reason.

Let’s see how everyone likes their new health insurance companies after getting booted from the HealthOp since it was shut down.
I switched to Colorado HealthOp from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, and also had Cigna in the past. All were high deductible. Anthem and Cigna get 0 stars.
Colorado HealthOp actually paid for things like well visits and vaccines. Also, its monthly premium was hundreds of dollars less expensive per month than what I have to pay now. It also had much better customer service.
Health coops are despised by for profit insurance companies, and are successfully getting them shut down. As a result, now we have to pay higher exorbitant premiums for less services.

In theory, an insurance coop sounds good. In practice, perhaps since its a new company, or because they lost $ 19 Mill in Q1 2014, cohealthop is unresponsive to customers, nor have they completely made arrangements with their providers, as promised in ads.
Physicians not honoring 3 free visits, nor physicals for Biometric Health Screening.
Labs not aware of program to bill ins directly.
Premiums are low, so that’s good. Sent bp meter, another positive.
I’ll give them a chance, but cohop does need to reach out to cust needs and inquiries. They are small enough to do so.
