Specialties

Now offering new extended hours and additional day options for the 2016 – 2017 School Year!

With a hands-on, creative curriculum that fosters learning through play, the Selma Maisel Nursery School program at Temple Sholom in Greenwich, CT, provides rich preschool experiences in which children learn and grow through both individual and group activities.

Through Israeli dance, holidays and festivals, and the weekly Shabbat celebration, our children gain an appreciation for their Jewish identity. All of our teachers are professionally qualified to work with preschool children and are dedicated to bringing out the best in each child. Specialized staff visits the school on a weekly rotating basis, including a storyteller, a gym coordinator, an Israeli dancer, and a wildlife educator. Rabbi Mitch and Cantor Asa are also frequent visitors to our classrooms and provide an engaging introduction to Jewish culture.

History

Established in 1992.

The Selma Maisel Nursery School was established in 1992 under the auspices of Temple Sholom. Our mission is to support the social, emotional, cognitive, physical and spiritual development of each child. Through developmentally appropriate and stimulating programs we nurture a child’s innate love of learning, encourage their curiosity, and inspire their creativity. We strive to deepen the child’s understanding and commitment to spiritual values such as kindness, mutual respect and cooperation. In addition, we recognize the dignity and diversity of children and their families. Daily activities and interactions among children, parents and staff are guided by Jewish values and principles.

Temple Sholom is a traditional egalitarian Conservative synagogue located in beautiful Greenwich, Connecticut.
