Good Saturday night Dinner. Great Burrata mozz and Veal Chop. Good service. Dessert was only disappointment.

This is such an amazing place. If you want really delicious food and a warm and convivial atmosphere, this is the place. Some people truly understand the meaning of hospitality– and these owners do. A husband and wife team – They are at the door, smiling and greeting guests, walking through the dining room hugging and kissing patrons, checking satisfaction levels and listening to compliments and complaints. The point is that they are PRESENT all the time and you really feel that they care. I have never had a bad meal there, and even when it’s quiet, I’ve enjoyed a meal at the bar by myself. Perfect for a large raucous group– or for a romantic date. The food is delicious and the service is great. Love it at Polpo.

you can never judge a place for its menu, neither for its location, I am not even going to mention prices… even thou that might discourage many from going and«visit» a place, perhaps the locals are not aware or affected by that, and with that last sentence I resume my experience at Polpo. a cute hideaway location, a welcoming entrance were the first impressions. unfortunately things were changing a little bit. and here is when expectations can betray you and rule your mood if you allow them to. As I walked in and were greeted, I mentioned to my «host» about my reservation(I cannot be sure if he was the maître d’ that night since he wasn’t seen moving around all the tables to check if everything was ok) the awkward moment came when he look at the computer to find my name and«my table».it took him few seconds to analyze«something» and as signs of confusion filled the room, he just didn’t know where to sit us, and just pointed to a table that to my judgment it could have been used only as last resource on a busy night(we had a 6 pm reservation on a Monday night, which allows me to contradict myself on the fact that when is a better day to go out for dinner base on numerous facts that at times I wish I can just ignore) was my «host» naïve… neither our waiter or the maître d’ could once notice if more wine was needed when glasses were almost empty… that makes me think on all the years that I worked at restaurants on my younger days, and allows me to formulate this question…-has the service at fine restaurants changed, overlooked or it was just that quiet night were no one at that restaurant showed to be keen enough… well something good came next… yes! wasn’t just me been too critical, no, risotto special was heaven!(even when it was already made– according to my waiter when I asked him how long it will take for the risotto to be ready) well If I can continue then I have to sadly say that I got confused when my fish came to my table… why?, well I was told they had Branzino and that it could be serve the whole fish or they could deboned it for me(fillet my waiter said). old school waiters would have deboned the fish in front on the table as a part of the show, but I ordered fillet, which for me it means the«whole fish» without the bones… when the dishes arrived to the table, I noticed something funny about my «fillet»…it was only either the top of the fish or the bottom… it was a great evening, meaning great company, the sound of the piano was taking over any«details» the night might had surprised us with, I think is time to conclude my experience or novel!!! desserts aren’t their forte. will I go back?,…well I am sure its a great place, and the locals love it! so if is accurate the saying — «when in Rome do as the Romans do» perhaps I am not willing to know Rome.

Very disappointing. We have been going here for many years and the Decline in food quality has been astounding. A medium burger burnt to the point of charcoal. Pan fried Dover sole a flaky mess. Likewise dishes my wife has previously enjoyed many times, now served cold and flavorless. Décor is worn and tired and the staff disinterested. From a genuine favorite to «we will never return»

Wow where to begin. The customer is wrong, the management is rude and they lied to us twice. The food was good for 3 out of 4 of us. We had a table of four on Saturday night and were expecting to spend our usual $ 400. Our waiter Eddy was very attentive. However, WEWILLNEVERGOBACK. We ordered veal chop rare and it was not cooked to order. It was pointed out to the waiter. The waiter took it to the chef and the chef said«this is how I cook it». The veal chop was brought back to our table as is, not to order. It was not eaten and we were told it would be taken off the bill. We believed them! When we got home it was still on the bill. I called the next day and was yelled at and argued with by the manager on duty. He said he would follow up with me and my guest on Monday. I never heard from him so I called again and asked for the manager. He was just as rude, argumentative and belligerent. He hung up on me. The charge for the veal chop was never removed. I have NEVER been abused like before. It is incomprehensible. DINEHEREATYOUROWNRISK. There was also an altercation with the Maitre D and a guest on Saturday, December 12. It was something to do with the band. The Maitre D was loud, rude, swearing and belligerent in front of restaurant guests. Extremely unprofessional. What is wrong with the management and customer service at this place!

Terrific in so many ways. Food was excellent, and the wine steward did an excellent job picking an affordable yet delicious red. Polpo is a bit on the pricey side, laugh in the end, at $ 300(+ tip) for two couples, we thought the price was ultimately about right.

Tacky interior. mediocre food. way overpriced. On the positive side the bar area is nice and cozy. Go for a drink and forget the food no matter how much they praise and sell the«Drunken lobster» to you. Most of the daily specials on the blackboard carry absurd prices.

Classic Italian Restaurant with a very lively crowd. Every night they have a piano player and sometimes accompanied by other musicians! The Dover sole is prepared perfectly with a lemon and wine overtone. They serve Classic Italian dishes and an Angry Lovster that is spicy and delicious. I enjoyed their fresh selection from their raw bar Their wine selection is quite good as well. The inside is cozy and heir outdoor eating is lovely. I also there a party for 60 people in their upstairs room! What a great restaurant! It’s great for a special occasion or networking at the bar! I highly recommend Polpo!

Polpo is not a place you will want to visit more than once. We made a reservation on a Saturday night for 8:45PM, and were not seated until 9:20PM. The prices they display are offensively high for the underwhelming product they deliver. They also seem to lack good management in all aspects of the operation. They completely lost control of the dining room when, for over 45 minutes, everyone within 100 yards of the place was forced to listen to one of the crassest monologues about a drunk woman’s middle-aged love life while the waitstaff stood by and said nothing. The only reason this place gets two stars instead of one is because the valet guys were very pleasant and efficient.

High end. Italian incredible appetisers and world class service. Try the baby lamb chops, octopus, lobster and what ever they are serving. Look for Joey C. and Cathy. They are regulars.

The food was good the service was acceptable. There always seemed to be at least 1 waiter and the Captain standing close by to our table which was distracting and unnecessary. What was really unexpected was the bill which had a tip line for the waiter and another for the Captain. I have never seen this at a restaurant nor had anyone in our dinning party. And quite frankly the service did not reflect the need to tip a Calptain as we had to ask for refills on the water and bread. Will not return.

Adorable cozy place on a hard to find side street. I never thought a Saturday in January would be that crowed, but it was packed. I saw 13 people packed into a round table for 10, the ladies looked miserable. Our table was in the side room, which was thankfully quieter. Our app’s were: Lobster bisque, Baked Clams, Stuffed Artichoke and Gnocchi with Short Rib Ragu. The soup was ok, slightly salty, but tasty. The Gnocchi were THEBEST and lightest I ever had in my life!(note, it was a special and not on the menu) The Artichoke was good, not great. The baked clams were overcooked and burnt, so I sent them back and the next was still overcooked, but less burnt. They tasted decent but were chewy due to being well done. Braised rabbit, Pork Chop special and Filet Mignon entrees were good, not exceptional. The service was attentive, but too much so. They rushed us, When the Maitre’ d placed the check folder down, he asked for our coat check tickets so they can get our coats. We had only been there 1 hr. We still had coffee in our cups and planned to have a night cap, but we got insulted and left. They all but said«Pay and get the hell out». 3 starts because food was OK.

Lived in Greenwich for over a decade, decided to grab a bite for lunch; my mistake. Was ignored for over 10 minutes as I stood at the captain’s station, apparently I didn’t have a hedge fund manager with me or a large party. Caesar salad was not impressive; dressing had not been mixed throughout the romaine leaving most greens undressed. Grilled chicken on top was fresh, thinly pounded and hot. The greatest downfall occurred with the bill; was overcharged $ 8.00 for my salad. If the restaurant needs to pad their bills or doesn’t think anyone from Greenwich checks the bill they are wrong.

Tried it for another chance to make things better but… Let me just say, by far worst than before, food is old and tired, time to update the menu, the smell from the restrooms is horrible, I was charged for 2 drinks that I never order. The«Captain» was too busy fighting with the servers and bussers, the waiter was too busy with the TV. Just shamefull for a town like Greenwich.

AFTER being ignored for 45 minutes — LEFT(paid for wine on table) Unbelievably noisy, crowded and obnoxious! As this was a «big» birthday celebration for me, it was terribly disappointing. We were initially offered a table directly at the top of the stairs. The table was declined, then seated in a more intimate part of the room. The wine list was presented, along with the blackboard by the captain … several items unavailable(ok…it was late). Wine served 10 minutes later. The waiter was very attentive — to the table on our right(left was unoccupied). While he glanced at our table, we thought he was not be our waiter because he never approached us. OVER ½ HOUR later, only after the table on our right with seated… were menus literally DROPPED on our table… the SAME waiter moved immediately to that table, handed them menus and began chatting…

having been there once before while the food was good the attitude was poor. we went with friends and again the food was very good. service was weak. well the next and last time was scary. the food was poor cold artichokes a burned fish. only good part was a salad. on this particular occasion the manager or owner was incredibly rude to his wait staff. screaming at them right by us. then he threw a table against the wall. we couldn’t wait to get out. many other great restaurants in Greenwich. no need to put up with this restaurant and its prices which are quote high.

We tried Polpo tonight for the first time. We sat outside, which was very nice. The wait staff was friendly and very attentive. The food was great right off the bat as well. They served a delicious arrabiata-style sauce with two types of bread before the meal — and I mean delicious — I would expect this flavor on an entrée. Our entrees were both excellent. I got a chicken and sausage dish with vidalia onions and cherry peppers that was fresh tasting, perfectly prepared, and super flavorful with great presentation. She got truffle ravioli which was great as well. I’ve wondered about this place for a while, and I’m glad to have finally checked it out. It’s pretty expensive, but compared to the multitude of pricey places in the area, this is one of the very few where I felt like I got my money’s worth. They put out a great meal that absolutely tasted like it commanded the price of admission.

Report card for Polpo: — Quality of food A — Presentation of food A — Value for food A — Service. A+ — Ambiance A+ — Live Entertainment A+ — Location A — Atmosphere A — Consistency A One of the best places in Greenwich, Fairfield County, or Connecticut. I always look forward to going there and feel so welcomed when I get there. Anything else to add: this is a first class establishment run by professionals who care about their business. If you have difficulty with stairs, be advised that the rest rooms are downstairs.

Hobnobbed with the goober-scmoochers for lunch last week. Definitely not my type of crowd, unless you’re into the sort of thing. I felt a little out of place in my $ 500 Brooks Brothers suit(on sale) if you know what I mean. But, the food and service was excellent. I had the risotto — I always get the risotto any chance that I can and this place did not disappoint — in fact, the risotto with filet mignon in a bordeaux red wine«sauce» was like an explosion of flavor in your mouth. My colleagues enjoyed their chicken parmigiana and the appetizers were excellent. As for the $$$, or should I say $$$$$$$$$$$. Yes, it is a lot and I see some complaints about the hospitality and while we did not have a bad experience I wouldn’t say that the server/host/etc. gave me the warm and fuzzies either.
