Howard Johnson Greensboro/Near the Coliseum

Pretty seedy hotel. My neighbor’s got raided/​arrested for some sort of drug operation in their room. Later some guy came looking for them, banged on their windows and threatened to shoot whoever was inside. I’ve never stayed at a hotel when that made me feel unsafe before. Outside of that, the wifi was absolute crap and wouldn’t even work enough to allow me to send an email. Additionally, I woke up every morning of my 5-​night stay with a terrible congestion that disappeared as soon as I checked out. Wow what a terrible hotel.

I booked & paid for a room with a Thursday check in date and a Sunday check out date. My boyfriend and I live in separate states due to our careers, so we meet half way in different cities monthly to see each other. My boyfriend was a few minutes ahead of me, so the hotel let him check in for us (even though the room and everything was in my name). They asked him what our plate numbers were, he said he didn’t know off the top of his head, so to make it easy, they only asked for the color of our vehicles and that was it. So this morning (Sunday) at 8:30 in the morning, we had the owner knocking on our door TELLING us we lied about not giving our license plate numbers and that our vehicles were getting towed & he stopped them. Not once did he ASK what the procedures the front desk went through. He basically hounded us to get out of the room so house keeping could clean it. Mind you, it was still a little before 9. If I’m not mistaken, I PAID for that room up until 11 a.m. this morning. I’ve never felt so insulted by a poor business practice like theirs. He followed us to our cars and took our room keys from us, wrote our plate numbers down and asked me if we were from this area. It was as if he thought we were doing something wrong or had another person staying in the room because we drove separately. If he had common sense, he would have seen that my boyfriend’s vehicle was plated in Tennessee, and my vehicle was plated in Virginia. And if he had more common sense, he would have also seen that the room was booked with a billing address in Virginia, and that we had no extra people in the room because I selected two adults through the Expedia booking process. I will never stay in this hotel again, nor do I recommend anyone else to.

Will never stay here ever again. Infested with roaches! But let’s start from the beginning. I rented a room with a king. When my husband and I checked in 2 hours after check in time began. The gentleman checking us in was getting us out room keys when the night manager said no that room was unavailable so we had to go to a room with 2 doubles. Not a huge deal but just slightly annoying. I had this reservation a month in advance– I don’t understand why I couldn’t have the room that they know I had requested. So we go to the room and we drop off our bags and then go out on the town to visit with family and friends.
When we come back late that night (it was around 2 am), we found a roach on the wall. My husband killed it and I decided to forgive and forget– cause you know– it happens right? Well we went to sleep only to be woken by another roach crawling on us. We turn on the lights and no joke there were at LEAST 4 inside the alarm clock and the I saw 2 more on the stand where the tv was that were attacking my husbands UNOPENED snickers bar.
My husband went to the front and could barely get out the words «roach» before the staff member was like «what room? 131?» Come to find out «the whole area has had a bad roach problem all year» and «all the hotels have been battling them» but that that particular room we were put in by the Night MANAGER is particularly infested… Thanks for the warning! My husband asked for a refund and the staff member said they would be happy to refund but he didn’t have the authority so I would have to call during regular business hours. He offered another room but at that point I was so fed up. We left and cut our trip short and just drove back home.
The only reason this is not a 1 star is the way the staff handled it after the fact. The gentleman was very apologetic and nice and the manager I called was also very apologetic and had already refunded my card.

Horrible place to stay. You get what you pay for. I paid $ 44/​night. Disgusting! The pillows and sheets where flithy and had stains on them! I even found multiple pubic hairs on the pillows and sheets!!! When I asked to replace sheets, they replace sheets with one with cigarette burns in it!!! There were only 2 towels when I checked in and the shower floor was moldy and very slippery because of the mold!!! Just unacceptable!!! Worst place to stay. I give it zero stars!!!

If you are looking for a crappy place to stay in Greensboro, this is it!
Needless to say, the safety, the attention, friendlyness policy, not my place to come back! Can’t do zero star, so there is the very minimum, one star.
Surrounded by all the major hotel chains within literally walking distance, nestled in the back of the side road. The room is acceptable. All the toiletries and linens are in place and clean. The standard, TV, fridge/​microwave, desk/​chair, 2 full size beds, etc
The AC unit is a little loud because the room is tight, as in, not much room to walk pass another adult, so one of the bed is sitting right by the AC. Dealing the one is too cold, two is not cold enough.
The pool was close when we stayed during Labor day.
The place is pet friendly, we knew and we are pet friendly people. As soon as we walked in the room around 5pm, we can hear a dog whining from a room nearby, the noise was mainly coming from the vent in the bathroom. By 1:30am, I simply couldn’t take the whining from the poor dog going unattended anymore. Dialed the front desk from the room, the phone at the front desk is apparently not working — it is a safety violation! Couldn’t find the direct number to the hotel because it is posted only the 1800 and having to go through all the prompts… Decided to walk up to the front desk, the staff couldn’t help because «from their desk» they cannot tell which room the noise is coming from… Okay. Immediate solution they offered, switch room, but they wanted me to drag my two sleeping children to the front office in order to issue a room few doors down!!! At 1:30am! I reminded the staff of the city’s noise ordenance, animal cruelty, but he insisted they ARE pet friendly. Obviously NOT guest friendly! And leaving a whining dog unattended for hours is not pet friendly.

The room was good for: sleeping
Well, maybe not even that! It was a scorcher in there. The AC was loud but wasn’t really pumping COLD air.
The bathroom was a sweat box — very humid and no air vents. I’ll be dag-​on if you have to poop — the entire room will reek.
Our room was directly across from the ice-​maker and soda machine — it was very loud.
A plus? the free continental breakfast — thanks!
Although it was very cramped and hard to move in the small space, I appreciate the effort. Maybe they should consider removing one of the tables in that room — so people don’t get bumped by patrons who are in a RUSH

Online price was $ 54 …walked in and was stated $ 77 asked if I did online would it show as booked today. She replied with attitude «I don’t know how long it will take to show» then she sat down and continued eating. I said no thank you and walked out. I was looking for a cheaper place to stay and although the place didn’t look so great I thought I’d give it a chance since I am only here for 2 days but customer service caused me to steer across the street @ $ 68.

This hotel was ok. It was something else before. maybe a Hampton Inn.
We liked the adjoining room bc there were 5 of us and it was nice to have 2 showers.
The beds were comfortable but it was hard to sleep with the air kicking on and off all night. There was no way to keep the air running the whole time.
There was a group there who was being really loud outside (night and morning). Since the doors to the rooms were on the outside of the building, the sound wasn’t buffered much.
The continental breakfast had cereal, waffle makers, bagels, muffins, fruit and juice, coffee and milk.
For the price this hotel was ok. It was clean and served the purpose of a place to sleep. It wasn’t bad bit also didn’t stand out which is why I gave 3 stars.

You get exactly what you pay for here. Quiet clean room good for one night – amenities sorely lacking ice machine broken, pool closed, water pressure in shower merely a dribble… but friendly staff and free breakfast!
