This restaurant(Greensboro location) is one I once visited at least 2 times a month. I also bring friends and family here when visiting from out of town. Keep in mind there’s always an extended wait of at least 45 mins on the weekend. After waiting an hour to be seated on Sunday we waited for over 30 mins for the order. After waiting 30 mins we asked the waiter about the food. The young man went to the kitchen and returned saying about 8 more mins. A couple came in and was seated 20 mins after we arrived who’s food came out way before ours. When we questioned why our neighbors food was prepared before us, we were told that they’re food was ready bc they didn’t get wings. Keep in mind we are sitting directly across from the kitchen and we have saw numerous plates with wings coming out. When we asked for the manager a young lady and man came out asking what the problem was as if the server had not briefed them on the issue. Neither of the managers acknowledged or apologized for the inconvenience but continued to make excuses. It doesn’t take rocket science to know that the kitchen simply forgot or skipped over our order. MISTAKESHAPPEN!!! However instead of the managers being honest they choose to lie and deceive the customer. The first thing in any type of business or customer service role is to acknowledge the customer’s concern and apologize when appropriate. Management handled this situation very poorly and has lost a consistent customer who has been supporting this business since the owner opened the establishment in Durham, NC.

Pretty good. The waffles are pretty sweet. Chicken is amazing. I got cheese grits as a side, soooo good. Really crowded space. Service could’ve been a little better. Pretty long wait.

I have been wanting to try this place out for a while when I come into town and we finally made it, we knew it would be a wait and boy was it worth it. Everything looked and tasted amazing. We both got the Buff Brahmas I got the caramel cashew drizzle and chocolate hazelnut and he got the peach apricot drizzle. The chicken was well seasoned cheese grits were awesome and the waffle was delicious, aside from the wait time it was absolutely awesome but hey you can’t rush something that taste so good. I would reccomend this place to anyone!!!

It’s always a treat to eat at Dame’s. However, prepare for a wait! I’ve come on weekends, weekdays, lunch, and dinner… and always had to put my name down. However, I can see why! The fried chicken is absolutely deliciously well seasoned. My favorite plate is the leghorn with the caramel and chocolate shmears. Love the balance between sweet and savory flavors. Friendly staff and great location. This is my #1 go-to place for fried chicken in the triad area.

Ordered The Barnyard Honcho but changed my waffle to sweet potato. I also got the Strawberry-Crème shmear to go with my waffle. The fried chicken cutlet was very good and I was surprised at the taste of the breading. The sweet potato waffle with the strawberry-crème shmear was amazing. The eggs and grits were delicious but I will offer one piece of advice on these. The grits come perfectly seasoned in my opinion so be sure to taste them before adding anything. I will also say that I got coffee to go with my meal and was pleasantly surprised at the quality(especially at 2:00pm). Worth your time and money to visit!

I really don’t get the hype around this place. I have always had decently pleasant times here but there is always something about the customer service. Hosted about 20 people for brunch there yesterday(called and made the reservation about a month prior). I asked for a table of 20 and it was confirmed. Yet when I arrived my group was split into 3 tables and I was told that our group would not fit into the private group room space. Now if I had’ve known this prior, I would not have hosted my brunch here. On top of that, the server I had rushed us through our meal. Read the entire menu to us(by the way, the menu is quite intimidating and could use some revamping) then came back 2 minutes later asking were we ready to order… LOLOLOL! We were like«no were weren’t finished studying the menu». And from thereon we were rushed through the eating making our experience less enjoyable. On top of that… the food is good but it’s just not great! I think people and greensboro just never been to a chicken and waffles place before but this place is jut meh. .sorry.

SUCH A FANOFDAMES(this coming from someone who used to not be a fried chicken fan is a HUGE deal). Dame’s is a must visit if you’re driving through North Carolina. Both times, I ordered the leghorn with a sweet potato waffle and apricot shmear(omg, the shmears are so good– if you get a chance, try all the different ones). The sides are all very tasty, especially the mac n’ cheese and the potato salad.

One of my favorite places in town. I’ve always loved chicken and waffles but they take it to another level with different breading options, a load of tasty sauces, and their ‘smears’(flavored butters). The collards ARETODIEFOR but go early because they go quick. The gingerbread waffle is my favorite and a perfect alternative of you want to add a little more pizazz to your waffle :-). Mac and cheese was a total miss for me… can’t figure out what it is they add but it’s an herb that should never belong near a pan of Mac and cheese. Sometimes it’s a little poultry seasonish while other times it tastes of herb de provence — can’t put my finger on it.

Welp this made 5 stars which I’m very picky to give restaurants but Dame’s deserves it. My husband and I were headed back to VA and decided to have brunch before we got on the road. Me being me, I get on Unilocal and Unilocaled brunch spots. Dame’s pops up amongst others, but when I saw they were known for chicken & waffles I knew we had to go. I myself am not big on chicken & waffles, but my husband LOVES chicken & waffles. He orders this most of he time when we go out to brunch spots. He thinks is a chicken & waffle connoisseurs. Ha-ha. I knew this would make him happy, so we went. I liked the area it was in and the way the building looked. The restaurant is on a street corner so the shape is interesting. The area around it and the building itself reminds me of the French Quarters in New Orleans. It was nice. Now onto the food. The biggest thing I liked about Dame’s Chicken & Waffles is that everything was damn good, including the sides. Most importantly I like how they advertise for something specific(chicken & waffles) and those items were actually good. I can’t stand when restaurants are known for something or a concept and you go and try them and that dish sucks or the concept wasn’t executed well… Like don’t advertise for something and it suck. Dame’s definitely mastered the chicken & waffle which is expected because that’s what they are saying to be known for. Good job Damion & chef(if you aren’t the chef)! I had the Carolina Cockerel and my husband had the Barnyard Honcho. The Carolina Cockerel was a blueberry waffle that comes with Peach Apricot Shmear. It comes with 3 wings but I substituted the wings for a cutlet. The Shmear is flavored butter. They have different flavored shmears, that is just what flavored came with mine. Also, I must make mention that their chicken was seasoned perfect ! It was also cooked well, still nice and juicy. I had the cutlet and it was nicely cooked, crunchy, and seasoned well! Yum! The Barnyard Honcho is a classic waffle and chicken cutlet. It also comes with eggs and grits. The eggs and grits were even good. My husband doesn’t like or eat grits but he ate theirs. I also had a side of spicy greens. They weren’t bad, they were exactly what they said to be.spicy. They may have been Glory canned greens or at least they tasted like it. If they aren’t my apologies chef. I don’t care either way. They had BOMB chicken & waffles and that’s all that matters. They aren’t claiming to have good greens so they are all right with me. What needs to be excellent is! I think the big thing from this restaurant is they know how to season their food and execute well. Overall, I’m not big on chicken & waffles but Dame’s did a wonderful job. My husband and I are big foodies, me more so than him. As many chicken & waffles as he has tried he said Dame’s is his 2nd favorite. He also said the feel of the southern concept and taste of the food was executed well. I would definitely recommend Dame’s Chicken & Waffles. They definitely did not disappoint.

OHEMGEEE… Damn, its Dame’s. and its delicious. I love coming here Sunday mornings for brunch after a night on the town. I have had the wait range from 20 – 45 minutes, but its soooooo worth it. I recommend calling in ahead of time and putting your name down on the waitlist. Dame’s knows their chicken and waffles, you must order chicken and waffles with a side of the heavenly, creamy mac and cheese. I could probably eat a tray by myself if they gave me one. We prefer the house breading over the panko, panko breading is too oily and bland. I normally split the Buff Brahmas plate with my boyfriend as it comes with 2 huge cutlets or 4 crispy wings, a waffle, whisky crème sauce, and apricot shmear. I love the idea of the different sauces and shmears with the chicken and waffles combos, makes the experience so exotic… for chicken and waffles. I love the chocolate hazelnut and vanilla almond shmears and the whiskey crème and cashews n caramel sauces but, the waffle is good by itself with all its spices. Its definitely not your average waffle. We will always make the 20 minute drive to come to Dame’s and wait another hour to be seated, the food is just that damn good.

Umm Umm Good while on my 1 year stent working at Duke in Durham I discovered the gem that is Dames. At the end of that contract I was sadden to leave the city and not have easy access to it as I had weekly when I flew into RDU for work. My last month I had my hubby travel with me for work to check it out and he fell in LOVE with the sweet potato waffle and the smears. Love and Behold as the middle girl decided on college age choose UNCG and while on orientation with her we discovered this location and was soo pleasantly surprised. We visited on college tour day and was nervous not thinking the taste will stand up with the originator in Durham. Boy were we wrong, the food was just as good when it comes to the chicken(perfectly seasoned) and waffles(sweet potato is out FAV). We appreciated the fact that if you ask how the sides taste they offer to bring you a sample of each to try before you order. I believe this help to cut back on sides being sent back for taste. We visited for homecoming and had Dames again and again it was a HIT. I stand by my notion that I can’t provide 5 stars because of the following: 1) There is no Fish and waffle option for us none land animal eaters 2) There is No changing table in the restroom.3) I didn’t enjoy my shrimp and grits as this was my first time trying them and the grits were too watery, I like a nice creamy grit with my shrimp. The flavor of the shrimp and turkey sausage(my hubby ate those) were tasty. The location is classic and put me in the mindset of a bistro in the French quarters of New Orleans. The service is pretty good and don’t make you feel rushed even though they are so busy.

Ok so my boyfriend and i are big fans of the dames in durham and when I found out that they opened one here, we had to go. But boy, could it have been any more unlike my experience at the original location! First off, right after bringing our waters, the server knocks my glass all over me and our table, and she did apologize profusely and quickly tried to clean off the table. But in the end, my pants are still soaked. Not comfortable. I won’t say that i expected them to recompense on our bill per se, but really? nothing? sigh. Oh, and that’s not why i gave them one star. That’s just my opinion personally, but I understand it was a complete accident. So why the one star? Well, what if i told you my boyfriend couldn’t finish his chicken(he got the one that comes with three wings atop the waffle) and my mom decides to heat up the leftovers that night to eat and she promptly tells us to take a look and she points to… drumroll please… FEATHERS. The wings were covered in tiny little fried feathers! Partly disgustingly, and yet partly hilarious because my unknowing boyfriend ate those wings at the restaurant and had no idea. But yes. We were served fried chicken with the feathers still intact. If that’s not a bad experience, then I don’t know what is.

W A F F L E B O Y S So I never had Chicken & Waffles before cause I’ve always waited to have it in the South. God damn the South knows how to fry some Chicken. That chicken was so fried! I ordered the Buff Brahmas which is 2 Wings, a Cutlet, a Classic Waffle, a Vanilla Almond Schmear, and Cheese Grits. The Chicken was actually Ridiculous. Stahp it. Crispy on the outside and extremely tender inside. I love the South! The hostess and servers were extremly polite and they even text you when your table is ready. I got a nice message when my table was ready it said«SEANYOUR F%+#(:+INGTABLEISREADY @$&JHHOLE!!!» Just kidding. Everything was great. I highly recommend Dame’s!

I LOVE this place! The food here is outstanding. I crave this place all the time. When I was looking for a house, there was one across the street for sale, and I thought. Well… Should I!!! Lol! My favorite meal is the Carolina Cockerel… Blueberry waffle and chicken wings. My favorite side is the greens, but the cheese grits are good as well. Favorite shmear is the strawberry-crème. Good service and great place to enjoy a meal. If someone’s coming to visit you from out of town, take them to Dames! It’ll be the best meal they have. My favorite place in Greensboro to eat!

If you are in Greensboro and looking for a southern treat, head here for the namesake chicken and waffles, but be prepared to make some tough decisions as there is just sooooo much to choose from! I chose the quilted butter cup, and was pleasantly surprised by the complex spices in the sweet potato waffle paired with the maple pecan schmear and the crispy fried chicken breast. I chose the fruit as my side and received fresh pineapple and strawberries. I added cheesy eggs to satisfy a crave, but this proved to be far too much food for me as portions are large. My wife selected the Carolina cockerel and enjoyed the blueberry waffle and the fruity apricot peach schmear. She chose the Mac & cheese, which was too heavy in oregano/thyme spice which overpowered the cheese flavors in our opinion. Prices are in line with portions, and the only negative aspect I see(beyond the artistic interpretation of the Mac & cheese) is the ambiance. I felt it was more drafty lunch counter and less southern kitchen feel. We had a good experience, and with the depth of menu choices we are intrigued. This makes the list, and we will surely return.

I’ve been waiting to come here. I’m telling you this place has been bookmarked on here for a while. Soul food?! Chicken and waffles?! I’m there. We arrived at around 11:30 and only one table was occupied. We were sat quickly and in a great spot. The place was spotless; so clean. The crisp clean colors, lines, lighting, and music put a real down to earth, soulful yet sophisticated vibe. High five on the vibe. The service was nice especially since we had a larger than normal party. She was attentive, professional, and polite. The food was average at best though which was disappointing. The waffle had. A nice taste but was soggy and didn’t have the crunch that I wanted. The chicken was a little dry for me and was seasoned like I would have liked; it needed more salt to create the sweet and salty contrast that one looks forward to when having chicken and waffles. The Shmears; maple pecan and apricot peach were okay. The AP Shmear wasn’t my favorite at all. The MP was delicious. The Mac & cheese was odd. Italian seasoning?! Really? At a soul food place? It was a miss, especially for me as a Mac & cheese snob. Overall it was okay. I can’t say I wasn’t disappointed after all the hype.
