First the good– the bagels are delicious!!! Soft and warm on the inside, crunchy and crusty on the outside. Almost as good as NYC bagels. Next the bad– pastries are hot or miss. The coconut custard bar was great but the cinnamon bun with cream inside was not baked at all inside. What I thought was cream was raw dough. It did not taste good. This was probably an off day. The cheesecakes are good but I only go for the bagels now. Apparently the bagels are not made there but they are baked there.

Stopped by after a day running around Greensboro, on a fairly cold day and they did not disappoint the name says cheesecake but everything we had was excellent. Pastries were great, latte was smooth The crème brûlée cheesecake was excellent. The staff was a little indifferent. small seating area inside with and urban rustic flare. All in all it was a good experience and I think we will be regulars here.

Fantastic cheesecakes with great employees. I came in today to get a cheesecake for my sisters birthday and last minute they wrote a message on it for me, later explaining I usually have to do this a few days in advance. The cake was fantastic as was the cupcakes from there. I am very much impressed with the quality of the cheesecake seeing as the price is very fair for a medium sized strawberry and cream cheesecake with Oreo crust (only $ 18!!). I will certainly return!

Such a fan of this especially since they remodeled and added on. First of the cheesecake… they always have 15 – 20 buy by the alice available and the always have seasonal selections. My favorite are the peanut butter cup or the crème brûlée. They also have a variety of baked goods, but I have never had them because the cheesecakes always win me over. Coffee is always freshly roasted and pairs perfectly with the cheesecake. I have come here several times with friends and they have had live jazz music or I swing in for a piece to go.

Went for Valentine’s night dessert and cheesecake was really good. My husband got NY style with strawberries and whip cream and I got white chocolate raspberry! Reasonably priced about $ 4 a slice and good coffee to boot. We will be back when in Greensboro.

I regrettably have to drop Cheesecakes by Alex to four stars! Why you ask do such a dastardly deed? Because their coffee that they pass along to you sucks! Every single time I’ve gone in here, the coffee is ice cold! Again last night, all four cups that were ordered were barely even warm! When you can take your first sip like your drinking a Coke, then something is wrong with your policy of monitoring. I didn’t take it back as this is a common occurrence. Yes it was extremely busy for a Saturday night as well! I just can’t wrap my head around how you can have such a great dessert product, cheesecakes in this case, and yet serve up a «lazy employee» accompaniment that just naturally goes with it! Go for their cheesecake, but drink water!

I’ve only had the cheesecake here and I continue to hear good things about the rest of the menu, however, the cheesecake alone is worth venturing here. I’ve had several different flavors and I’ve been impressed by them all.
Our recent visit was to the expanded location, which includes much more open space and a «hipper design aesthetic. Really impressive.
It’s really the perfect ending, well, one of the perfect endings to a night out downtown.

My year has officially started now. I had my first slice of cheesecakes by Alex cheesecake for 2016!!! I choose the mint chocolate chip which was very amazing. I sat in the new expanded area. it was really great to see how they have grown and become a staple of downtown!!!

I have had a strange sweet tooth lately so I am on my bakery/​dessert type binge. Which brings me here. And cheesecake is pretty swell too. This place has been around for, I am guessing, more than ten years. It is on Elm in downtown Greensboro. Isn’t everything on Elm? Greensboro got this street right. I have passed it a trillion times. The stars aligned finally.
I called ahead because I had a question and was helped by a dude named Pat. I had a question about pricing and how you could order. His response and helpfulness brought me to the store. Thanks for customer service. It still matters.
You could do their sampler but I really wasn’t much on some of the flavors that is included in it. So I asked Pat the way to go if I wanted a little bit of the flavors of my choice. He informed me you can order a large cheesecake ($ 38) which includes 12 slices of whatever flavors they had available at the time. Well, if I am gonna experience this place, I am gonna do it. So I went with it. Never hold back. Just do it. Sure you can buy by the slice (4.15), but whatever. Ain’t no one got time for that.
I got at least one of the following to form my 12 slices/​pie: (yes I am copying from the menu but they do a damn good job of making salivary glands work overtime):
*Crème Brulee — A creamy vanilla cheesecake with a graham cracker crust, topped with sugar that is then carmelized.
*Peanut Butter Cup — A subtle peanut butter cheesecake above an Oreo® crust and drenched in a rich dark chocolate ganache.
*White Chocolate Raz — A creamy white chocolate cheesecake with a raspberry swirl and an Oreo crust.
*NY Style — The «original» with a twist — a hint of lemon — over a graham cracker crust. This is the cake for the «cheesecake purist».
*Chocolate Chip — A creamy vanilla cheesecake with an Oreo crust, loaded with dark chocolate and white chocolate chips.
*Strawberries and Cream — A luscious strawberry cheesecake made using local strawberries over an Oreo crust.
*Pineapple — A refreshing pineapple flavor with a layer of crushed pineapple over a graham cracker crust.
*Bananas Foster — A banana cheesecake with chunks of bananas and a caramel swirl over a graham cracker crust.

I sampled each piece. Each one is creamy, moist, exactly how cheesecake should be. Texture is perfect. If I had to pick one flavor to make a whole pie, I would choose between the Crème Brule, Strawberry & Cream, or White Chocolate Raz. It is a toss up between these.
I think it is safe to say if cheesecake is your thing, go and go now. If you have «cheesecake» in your name, you better bring it. Brought!
The lady who helped me was very informative and helpful with suggestions. Thanks. I am glad you can freeze this stuff because that is a lot of cheesecake to consume. Great problem to have. I now have something to nibble for the next few weeks.
The inside had a few seats and would be a great place to stop in after whatever to get dessert or to hit a sweet tooth.
Simply outstanding from start to finish. If I had to pick a dessert place as my go-​to in Greensboro, I have found it.

I don’t eat cheesecake. I think it is either too sweet, too grainy, uninspiring or just plain and pedestrian. The only cheesecake IN THE WORLD that I will eat is from Cheesecakes By Alex.
Every flavor is more delicious than the one before it. Mint Chocolate Chip is my favorite and even the plain cheesecake is phenomenal. Not only is there cheesecake, but there are cookies (chocolate chip, ftw), cake (blue velvet. get it) and brownies and now that they’ve expanded, there’s a bigger array of coffee, coffee-​based beverages, bottled beverages AND more seating so you can relax and let the edges of the sugar coma you’re about to have start creeping into your body.
The service is just okay, but they’re always fast and get you in and out as quickly as they can. Do t be surprised or put off of the line is to the door. This is a popular place. You can order ahead of you know what you want. And if you really don’t know what you want and you’re buying for the squad, just get a platter. 6 different cheesecake samples, cookies, brownies, Blondie’s all on a doily so it looks so fancy, huh.
It’s a great place to satisfy any and all of your sweet teeth.

Love this place! Crème brûlée cheesecake is the best. Also picked up the seasonal eggnog flavor and a slice of coconut cake. Yummmmmm! Plus, the store recently expanded. It looks great. Lots more room to browse now.

We ordered two cheesecakes for an event we were having; chocolate chip and New York style. The new facility was very nice. The staff, however, wasn’t nice at all. There were three young ladies behind the counter. The one making the drinks seemed polite but the other two were downright rude. The one lady that took my payment never looked at me and when she was speaking it was dripping with displeased tones. I had requested that the cheesecakes be sliced when I ordered them weeks ago. I asked to verify that they were sliced when they were handed to me. The second rude worker said, «They weren’t requested to be sliced.» I commented that they were. She rolled her eyes and said that since she had already packaged them that I would have to wait 15 – 20 minutes before she could get to slicing it. Really?! We just took the cakes a left.
I really want to dock a star for this rude staff but I can’t because the cheesecakes were so delicious. Everyone loved them. The crust on both of the cakes made them both amazing.

The rustic feel of the place is great, I’m a huge cheesecake fan and had no idea that this place even existed. I’ll definitely be back!

I saw Cheesecakes by Alex on Unilocal,and I was super excited to try them. I like all things sweet and cheesecake has a special spot in my heart.
The little place is charming. The décor is great, the location is great and is overwhelming to walk into a place with at least 20 different types of cheesecake.
I waited in the long line while I tried to decide what kind to get: Pineapple? Kahlua? Apple? so many choices! When it was my turn to order, I was being very friendly to the girl behind the counter and she was very indifferent at best, she looked like she hated her life. I got to the register, and the cashier was even worst, she had a serious attitude problem.
I got my pineapple cheesecake and a cup of latte. The latte was super cold so I asked if they could please heat it up a bit. How dare I disturb the employees with a simple request? The girl looked at me and rolled her eyes and took the cup without saying anything. Got my coffee back and I sat down.
There is a table right by the window, it was so incredibly peaceful to look out and see the fall leaves in the floor.
When I took a bite of my cheesecake, I sadly thought that it was super blend. I feel that it needed something, sugar? flavor? IDK, it didn’t taste like anything.
Kuddos for having so many choices, perhaps the pineapple flavor was not the best pick, but the service didn’t necessarily make me want to go back to give another flavor a try.

Rating this a 4 because no cheesecake compares to me as the perfect cheesecake unless it’s from New York. Yes, I am New Yorker. However, I do love the sweet potato cheesecake (nothing to what I have had in the past.) The Crème Brûlée is also another hit for me. If you are three people trying their cheesecake and want the same flavour, I would advise you buy the small cheesecake. It would be more bank for your buck. The cannoli are also pretty decent. If you need a treat in the morning enjoy their ginger muffin.

Huge Selection!
We were quite overwhelmed by the huge selection they had, but being a sucker for anything coffee I got the KAHLUA Espresso Cheesecake, along with TRIPLE CHOCOLATE Threat cake slice and CARAMEL APPLE cupcake.
Me being over enthusiastic about sweets decided to taste them there even though we got them To Go.
Triple chocolate cake slice was plain DRY, Frosting to cake ratio was Off. Too little frosting for too much cake. Since the place was Cold from their air conditioning i thought may be the cake froze a little bit, I microwaved it when I got home and it was still DRY.
The Cheesecake was A –OK, very mild flavor of the espresso .
Cupcake was Best of the Lot. Frosting was sweet and spicy and perfect.
So this place has not 1 but 3 seating areas ?
Outside seating was Dark and didnt have any lighting.

Cheesecake doesn’t get any better! The variety of cheesecakes is amazing. Buy by the slice or a whole cheesecake. They also have other cakes, which I haven’t tried, but they look pretty darn good.
Today I tried the frozen cheesecake on a stick. Fantastic! These are not on the menu so ask for them. Today they had Key Lime Pie, Chocolate Chip, Crème Brûlée, and Peanut Butter Chocolate. I went with the Chocolate Chop and had it dipped in chocolate.
If you’re in the mood for cheesecake or sweets, you can’t go wrong stopping in here.

Wooooooosh! Walking by this place for almost 13 years and NEVER knew where it was! FrenchFryHead BoyMan told me about this place before it was OPEN in late 2002 and I have been curious but not Desperate (80’s I know) ! POPROCK LOVE and I have walked by this place and (maybe she saw it)!
Finally My eBay Bride and I checked his place out twice Friday and got: Bananas Foster CheeseCake AND Blueberry CheeseCake, saved for BREAKFAST the next morning!
I was eyeballing some Cookies and noticed they Fill the Canolis to-​order so the shell does not go-​limp!
Value ! I was surprised by how reasonably Priced these Desserts are especially for a place with such a GREAT Following!
What I LOVE most about this place is not the Cheesecake though Cheesecake is not what I seek for Dessert or a Meal!

I loved the key lime cheesecake and the turtle cheesecake was yummy too.
The cappuccinos were pretty good. I like it a little stronger… next time I may ask for an extra shot.

This is a small little bakery located on Elm st in Greensboro. The shop has its own little lot to the side of the business, but it fills up fast during peak times.
The interior has several tables for eating deserts there, as well as an outdoor area for nice weather.
If you are a cheesecake fan, don’t pass this place up. This is some of the best cheesecake I’ve ever eaten. There are a variety of flavors up for grabs: strawberries and crème, chocolate, turtle, lemon, etc. I go with with raspberry everytime, and have never regretted it. I am kinda cheap, but I have no issues dropping 4 – 6 dollars on a banging piece of cheesecake.
If you’re in the boro and craving some cheesecake, you can’t go wrong with this place.
