John Jay Byrne Bridge

Small bridge that connects Queens and Brooklyn via Long Island City and Greenpoint. There are bike lanes and pedestrian lanes that go over this bridge. They are on both sides as well which is nice. When your crossing from Queens to Brooklyn, it narrows down to one lane as your crossing over the middle. Coming back the other way there are two lanes.
The bridge is over Newton Creek I think is the name of that river.
I’ve never seen it used but it is a drawbridge. You can see the mechanical arms that stop traffic on sides as your driving over.

This is a bridge you barely even notice — even when you’re on it since there are no overhead cables, trusses or supports. The views are (for now) industrial as you cross between Queens and Brooklyn.
Unfortunately, it often stinks around this part of the city. No trolls live below the bridge (I’ve checked). The smell is just the nearby sewage yummification plant.
Okay, okay, it’s really the Newtown Creek Wastewater Treatment Facility and admittedly, they’ve actually reduced the stench factor around here in recent years so yummity yum yum yum!
