My husband & I buy our from Aunt Millie’s on occasion — I can’t complain about the price because they are pretty cheap. If we don’t use the bread, we usually put them in the refrigerator and we are able to get them to last for a while. Although, if you try to have them last 2 weeks, you will have moldy bread. The employees here are pleasant and very helpful. I can’t complain!

November 21st, 2012. One of the darkest days in US history. Hostess shuts down production. As a result, all the Hostess Thrift stores, including the one in this location, start to shut down. I tell my wife, «They will never be able to sell this store in the middle of nowhere». Two weeks later, it’s an Aunt Millie’s. I don’t even know what an «Aunt Millie’s» is. At least I didn’t, because naturally, I became curious and checked it out. It was just like Hostess, only more bread and less snack cakes. It’s a regular thrift store, selling almost expired food at a deep discount. Deep discounts it is here. I walked out with two loaves of organic bread, a pack of wheat hot dog buns and a pack of wheat hamburger buns(plus a box of their Twinkie-style snack cakes and single Devil Dog they were giving out for free) for a measly $ 3.74. You really can’t beat those prices. My Mother taught me the secret to getting cheap bread. You buy at a thrift store when it’s cheap, then bring the bread home and put it in the freezer until you’re ready to eat it. In the 15 years since I left my Mother’s house, I’ve done this. When I take the bread out of the freezer, I usually have about a week and a half to two weeks to finish the loaf before it starts to go bad. Not with these loaves. I had about a half of a week on each of them before they started to grow Penicillin. The Twinkie style snack cakes weren’t that great. Even for a Twinkie, it had way too much sugar. Skip the snack cakes. I could complain about the bread, but at that price, even with half of both loaves going bad I still saved a considerable sum of money compared to what I would have payed in a grocery store. My verdict on Aunt Millie’s is to come here when you need a ton of buns for a barbecue, or only buy enough bread for the week and take the chance it might go bad before you finish it.
