My son took me here on a Friday for a few beers. We arrived late afternoon and it was not packed, but a little busy. The bar seating was full and it is a pretty big bar. Service was prompt and friendly, prices were very low, beer list had enough to satisfy. A great spot for a few brews. The food however was not very good. Again, very low prices and I guess the old saying«you get what you pay for» applies here. I had a bacon cheeseburger which seemed to be from the microwave. My son had wings and fries. Marginal but he said for the price, certainly ok. Also, as I said, it was a Friday and they do not offer a fish fry. A good thing to me because therefore no huge fish fry crowd! Anyway, we had a great time there together and I am sure we will be back.

This is a typical dive bar, with inexpensive, rail drinks, and eats. All set in a suburban, middle class area both affectionately and sarcastically known as «The Bubble». Ray & Dot’s Tap is on property rented from Greendale American Legion… it is NOT a legion bar. I know what they pay in rent… they get it for a song… the drinks SHOULD be inexpensive. The bartenders are courteous, and keep an eye on what is happening, even when they are really busy… tip them in advance, and tip them really well, they deserve it. There is a bouncer on the weekend, and be advised that Greendale PD doesn’t put up with any bs, so if you want to cause trouble, go someplace else. During the day, it is a corner bar. On the weekend and in the evening, it gets busier. All in all, it is a fun place to go, and the bar tenders keep it so. Liquor, darts, Scooby snacks(really! they have them!) What is not to love?

Place is a typical Wisconsin dive with the cheap food service food, cheap beer, and fun atmosphere. Don’t go here for gourmet food, go here for the fun and beer. Employees attitudes are very poor, but they are fast and attentive, again similar to most Wisconsin taverns.

Local VFW post Ray & Dot’s has been a staple in Greendale for ages. The atmosphere is laid back, and the drinks are very reasonable. If you’re feeling hungry, they have a small food menu to order from. The staff here is very nice and makes sure you’re taken care of. If you feel so inclined, there are pool tables and darts to partake in. You can also get some music playing with their digital juke box. If you’re looking to watch some sports, there are a couple of televisions in the bar area. Between the drink prices and the fact that it is only a few minutes from my house, this is definitely a go-to place for me.

This place was great in 1980 and it’s great today. And it was great before that. Used to come here during college when I was home in Milwaukee, and I was here recently for a reunion of the GREATLAKEBAND, National Marching Band Champions! It was even better! Cleaned up, lively, remodeled. Same great reasonable drink prices. Same friendly joint, right near Southridge on the south side.

The place rocks! Lots of spirits & cheers. Great bar with a laid back atmosphere & plenty of entertainment options. I like playing darts or shooting pool here. The staff is always polite & attentive. Drinks are a deal! Most import beers are around $ 3 bucks. The majority of the menu items are fried. Although, they do offer sandwiches & excellent nachos. Weekend nights & Packer’s games are the busiest of times. The old VFW post is a South side staple. Be sure to check it out.

I love this place! The bartenders are very friendly and the beers are very affordable! It is pretty laid back atmosphere, come as you are for sure. Liven up the night playing pool, darts, or your favorite song on the digi juke box. Their menu is packed with fired goodies and sandwiches at great prices! I’m coming back for sure!

Cheap drinks, friendly bartenders! Avoid the mini tacos though. Good place to just sit, drink, and socialize with friends. prices don’t get much cheaper than this. There is definitely a night/day crowd. Coming here during the day expect a much older crowd, as it is an old VFW post. At night however, there is a much younger crowd. They recently did some remodeling as well, opening up the bar a bit more by moving the games to a newly opened side room. Only gripe is on weekends it can get crowded and drinks can take a while. Other than that, awesome place!

The welcome is warm and the Leinie is cold(and cheap). Terrific, down-to-earth watering hole.

Ray & Dots is bad ass. Plain and simple. I grew up in Greenfield, and the place is pretty legendary among my group of friends from our debaucherous nights spent drinking Hoegaarden(a tap is like $ 2.50!) and eating nachos until we went blind. The people there are great, the service is what you’d expect when 50% of the patrons are veterans and for such a simple place it has a great atmosphere. It makes me a little sad that there have been fewer and fewer Ray & Dots nights in recent years, but I’m sure if I walked through the door today it would be exactly as I remember it, from the nights when I’d stumble home with my friends full of beer and having spent like 12 bucks.

I really like the people at Ray & Dot’s. The VFW post is filled with friendly Veterans who are regulars there. They make you feel safe. The bar fare is good, deep-fried just right. The best part about Ray & Dot’s is the cheap prices. Even the exports are cheap… plus they have many to choose from. My husband likes Franziskaner and they actually had it! I like my Corona Light and it’s a 50 – 50 shot to find the Light at a bar but they have it here. When the smoking ban takes effect I will definitely spend more time here.

When I lived in Greenfield, this really was the only decent bar near me that I enjoyed going to. My friends and I would go there and drink many, many taps of PBR on the cheap. The atmosphere is usually good. I’ve met some really awesome people there. Sadly, I’ve lost touch with some of them. They have a juke which is always playing a decent mix of music. Prices are cheap. It’s a VFW hall for gods sake. The only downside is the wait for drinks on the weekend can be quite long which as usual annoys me since I tip well.

Ray & Dot’s is an institution — it’s an old VFW Post — you MUST go at least once just for the experience. I would highly recommend not going during the day however because it’s just downright depressing. It’s one of the few places where you’ll see a Vietnam war veteran sitting next to a barely 21-year-old blonde and her meathead Brewer ball cap wearing boyfriend. My friends held a surprise 30th birthday party for me here. I wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else(at the time anyway). Yes, the smoke will choke the life out of even the most ardent smoker. But the beer is so friggin cheap you’ll have to work hard to spend $ 10. The bar food is pretty much all fried — just as it should be. Plenty of darts and pool to be had, and usually there’s some nifty raffle going on to win a Weber grill or some Packers stuff. Odd side note: We were at Ray & Dot’s the night the verdict was announced on the Mark Chmura case. It was so quiet in the place you could hear a pin drop — everyone was watching the TVs. lol
