This place should be called curling iron bar and not the blow dry bar. Wtf? I look like the cast of New Jersey housewives. I waited 30 min

I want to start off by saying that I really love The Style Bar. Up until recently, all of my experiences have been very pleasant, always leaving feeling beautiful! Unfortunately, I am only giving three stars due to my last few experiences here since the end of the last year. I am a last minute woman who travels a lot for work. I typically call the day before and am always accommodated here. In doing so however, I have had the unfortunate event of getting the same young girl each time (possibly fresh out of school?) who has practically damaged my hair past the point of return and burnt my scalp this last time. Not to mention she did share a lot of personal information during the appointment that made me feel rather uneasy. I do not recommend Marina, but I DO recommend The Style Bar.

I am a long time customer and I have noticed deteriorating service during the last six months. I come about 2 to 3 times a month and have come here for two years. There has been recently a huge turn over of stylists so it is disappointing when you never get the same person twice. The consistency of styles has also dropped off. Some new stylists have no clue what the styles are that they purport to do. You cannot simply relax and know you will be taken care of — you need to be vigilant. The recent people working at the front desk are more enamoured with their cell phones than with service. I had to ask 4 times to get a cup of coffee (as the front desk person was busy texting on her personal phone). The one before was flipping between the computer check in and her personal emails. In the middle of a movie (played above on both sides where the style stations are) the movie was turned off and changed because a new customer said her children (waiting in the back) would be offended by the PG chick flick (yep to cartoons). I hope there is some competition in the area as I am ready to try a different place. It is too bad, I used to LOVE the place.

I’d like to thank Style Bar for a most professional and respectful response to my original review. I will go back and I am sure it will be a fabulous experience.

Pretty disappointed. Went to get a «blow out» and ended up just leaving with small 1 inch curls. And they all fell out within an hour. Time to heat up my own curler. Waste of money.

I love this place, and appreciate how effectively it can transform me from frumpster to ready for an important meeting or romantic occasion in the blink of an eye. Thanks for being my secret transformative tool, and for the excellent customer service on the rare occasions when things go awry. The «rare occasions» have nothing to do w the stylists, who are consistently amazing, but the computer booking system, which is occasionally unreliable. Thanks again!

I got my hair washed and styled by Sara, who did a fine job. Very matter of fact, in and out. Perfectly fine by me. What I had a problem with is the fact that on their website they list American Express amongst the credit cards you can use to pay from the drop down menu. So I thought that I could use AmEx in the store to pay for my hair services and also for a bunch of Kerastase products that I had selected (over $ 200!). Well, that was not the case. They «do not accept American Express». So… why in the world would it be an option from the payment drop down menu on their site? That didn’t sit well with me. I went ahead and paid for everything with a different credit card as, by then, I felt on the spot. Not sure that I will be back though. Too bad, because my hair looked and felt good.

OK guys, I’m knocking off one star for just one reason — the head massage thing here seems to be overlooked a lot. When I have booked a service with a ten-​minute head massage, it’s often either skipped or shortened into about three minutes. When I’ve booked a service with a five-​minute head massage, I’ll get one minute. C’mon now. This is a big selling point and part of the service. Otherwise no complaints at all; have enjoyed all of my stylists and love being able to buy good product and enjoying a cappuccino while having my hair done. This is my only whine.

I had my hair blow dried. The shampoo could have been a little more firm. Did not get a head massage. But it was ok.
My hair was finished just how I wanted it.

A few of us got blowouts prior my cousin’s wedding and sadly most of our curls didn’t stay in until the reception later on in the day. My hair stylist, Melissa wasn’t on time when I got there — so I was waiting while the other girls I arrived with have already washed their hair and started getting styled. Noticed some of hair dressers were more talkative than the others, but I guess when the blowdrying is running, it is hard to talk to us. I didn’t feel a very friendly vibe from the people who worked here, but they had Shu Uemera products and Kerastase as their products. They have a big space with lots of products displayed everywehre. I liked how the seats and tvs were placed. Probably won’t return here.

So I went to the style bar to get my hair professionally styled for a special occassion. Considering that this salon doesn’t even do cut or color, I thought their specialty in «styling» would be amazing. All I wanted was my hair curled (the twist curl where the hair is twisted around the wand) and a french braid. The women there, to begin with, are very catty. I sit down and she begins to curl my hair and asks, «is that how you want it?» I say no, I want a twist curl (as opposed to the curl that lays the hair flat on the wand, appears fake, and uncurls quickly). The foreign lady styling my hair keeps telling me she is doing a twist curl when she noticeably isn’t and doesnt understand the difference. I show her a picture of my hair curled how I want it and she said «oh it’s the same curl, just the woman in the picture has hair that holds better». WHAT. THAT WAS ME IN THE PICTURE. She was absolutely incompetent. She asks ME, her CLIENT, to show her how to curl my hair. I show her the way I want it. She tells me «i am doing this». For the millionth time, you aren’t doing it right. Considering this woman specializes in styling hair I thought she would be smart enough to understand the difference and she doesn’t. My friend that I came with comes over to help explain what I want because she, a nurse, understand what I am saying, but the stylist continues to insist she is doing it right. She was so disrespectful, demeaning, and just did a pitiful job. Once she finished curling my hair, she tells me she doesn’t know how to waterfall braid. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. THIS IS YOUR SPECIALTY. I EVEN KNOW HOW TO DO IT. I am in absolute shock. I could do this woman’s job better than she can. She asks her coworkers and none of them know how to do it. Those women should be ashamed that they don’t even know how to perform their occupation correctly. So she insists that my hair would look bad with one and that I should just keep it curled and down. Obviously the only reason why she is saying that is because she doesn’t know how to do it and is covering her ass. If I knew that the only thing these people could do was curl hair the WRONG WAY, I would’ve stayed home and done it myself. I highly recommend that you don’t go here if you want any type of style, because odds are, they can’t actually do it.

I never have my hair professionally styled and decided to it to do it for a special date. I went in and specifically said I do not want my hair blown out straight. I wanted it big and curly and foxy, and said so. (I have a lot of thick hair) I walked out with silky, totally straight hair. It was the opposite of what I wanted, I felt totally uncomfortable and wanted to go wash it right away but didn’t have time. And it cost a fortune. I’m giving two stars because the woman was nice and if you want your hair silky and straight they can do a good job at that. But man, I paid some serious cash and didn’t like my hair. It was a bummer.

My first visit to Style. They had time for a same day appointment. That was very nice. Cheyenne did a great job on my hair. What a transformation. She was funny and good at her job. Everyone was nice. I will definitely be back!

My daughter came in to get her hair styled for her senior portrait. Receptionist was very friendly. Stylist, Melissa, was nice and did a great job curling her hair. She looked great when she left the salon. Only complaint was by the time she took her pics, 2 hours later, most of the curls were gone. :(

I usually go to the Petaluma location but today I tried the Marin location b/​c its right by my job. I went to Robin and she did just as great of a job as the ladies in Petaluma! Props to you Robin… u did my hair just the way I wanted it also in just about 30 min! Thanks a bunch!!!
PS: I was watching the other ladies do their clients hair and they all looked on point! Officially LOVE Style and will continue to go to either location as often as I can!

I was totally excited to try this place for the first time — made an appointment two days ago for this Thursday — planned my whole day around it and have an important event to go to later.
Well turns out they had me in for next Thursday and instead of trying to figure out how to fix it, so I could get my hair done, which is a total mess now, the young girl at reception was brash and was just like sorry ’bout that, we will give you an upgrade next time. Well next time does not help me out now! And after this there will probably be no next time! Whatever happens to customer service were you try to solve it somehow?
Update: I called them back to see if there was any way that I could get in, maybe they could call one of the clients booked to see if they could come in for a later time slot that was offered to me, but did not work for me. I was told that they do not do that there. I tried to explain that I am in the industry as well and that I do that sometimes to accommodate someone else — to call a scheduled client and see if they could move their time. The girl interrupted me and said: Well I listened to you, now you listen to me — we do not do that here, people have their appointments and that is it. Whoever booked your appointment confirmed the date and time verbally with you, so you were booked for next Thursday. The whole time she had a brash and annoyed tone in her voice!
OMG!!! I would give 5 minus stars if I could!!! If you look at my profile, I am not one to throw around bad reviews and I know how hard we have to work for good reviews — but this kind of customer service is just unbelievable! This industry is about nurturing and care, which I wanted and needed today and most certainly did not get at all!

Love getting my blowout here! It’s convenient and they are nice… imagine that. I love Rose! She is the best.

My niece and I had our hair done here on Saturday. Both of us have very fine hair.
My requested «blow out curl with volume» was pretty bad. my hair looked flat with little curl. My niece’s hair looked nice with a front braid. Unfortunately, her hair was completely flat within an hour. Not sure the products used here are appropriate for fine hair.
However, I noticed that 2 other women were having their hair done at the same time and they both looked great — so I guess your satisfaction depends on what kind of hair you have.

I got my makeup done by Ashley at Style for my graduation and was very pleased.
I had never gotten my makeup done professionally before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, nor was I sure what to request. I asked for a moderate cat eye and a red lipstick. I was very happy with the result, though I chose to switch out the red lipstick for a nude. My appointment was $ 50 for «full makeup».
The Style bar itself is modern in design and the staff seemed well dressed, attentive and professional. I would definitely recommend Style to a friend!

I really loved the laid-​back atmosphere of Style. I enjoyed the movie playing by the bar and the generally pleasant surroundings.
However, If I were the owner of this place I would require my stylists to have their hair look nice. I noticed none of the stylists had styled or blown out hair themselves, and everyone but the receptionist was dressed very sloppily. Some wore makeup but very few. I felt that in a place where one comes to feel glamorous, the stylists should exhibit the brand that the salon is selling!
Otherwise decent. My hair looks alright but $ 38 for an uneven part in my hair and floppy layers seems excessive.
