The salesman was extremely polite and thorough. He explained everything that would happen in perfect detail and even discussed financing options, overall we we’re very satisfied with the sales process. The crew arrived on time there was no identification on the truck which was a bit confusing at first but the installation is going smoothly. The foreman Will was very informative and discussed with us what was being installed. We have been able to view the entire process at each step and reiterated the materials. Everything that was promised with the sales rep has been congruent to what is happening. Overall experience with power has been excellent and I would recommend Power to anyone. Our cats on the other hand don’t love the noise :)

Thanks to Power Home Remodeling, I can now check «tell a salesman to get the F**K out of my house» off of my bucket list.
I won’t go into details, because my experience was virtually identical to pretty much all the others here. Super aggressive and relentless sales pitch (including an almost three-​hour appointment) culminating in my having to literally force the salesman out of my home.
Wish I had checked Unilocal first. After dealing with this company, I can confidently say that I would rather set $ 20,000 on fire then dance around in the ashes before giving a dime to Power for any sort of services.

We recently had Power do a roof for us after seeing them do multiple houses in our neighborhood and were very happy with the results. Overall, here is what I would say about the company:
Pros: The quality of the product is great and it’s warrantied for 50 years. For us, this should be the only roof we will ever need on our home. Additionally, you can finance the purchase through them/​Wells Fargo or secure your own financing for the purchase. The actual installation also went smoothly, and they were quick to reschedule us after our original installation date was scheduled the day of the DC blizzard. The clean up of the roof wasn’t as good as promised (there was snow on the ground), but the Quality Assurance manager who came after to check on the work stayed extra time and did clean up of our property.
Cons: The sales tactics are a bit overwhelming. I have never had an estimate appointment take 1.5 hrs, and both you and your spouse must be present if you’re married. My wife eventually asked them to speed up the process which they did, but it was much longer overall than we ever thought it would be. The other big con is the paperwork they give you about the warranty is confusing and has clauses that are difficult to understand. My wife ended up calling their warranty department and spending a long time going through each clause we had questions about. It would be nice if instead of spending so much time telling you how great they during the sales process they just went over the materials, the cost, and the warranty.

I regret using power home, and would not recommend anyone using them. They did my roof 3 years ago and had water leaking into my house after our recent snow storm. When I called them about the leak their response was I had an ice dam on the roof that caused the water to come into the house and to climb onto the roof to clear the dam. Not what I wanted to do on an icy roof. Also they did not ever offer to have someone come out to take a look. I fell for the sign today trap for a discount. DO NOT FALL INTO THAT TRAP. Get another estimate from a local reputable roofing company. It will be cheaper and just as good.
I did have a local roofing company take a look and they said the shingles were installed incorrectly where I had two roof angles converge. The shingles were installed with the wrong overlap which caused the melting snow to actually flow under the shingles causing the water to flow into the house.
Negative stars if possible.

In addition to the negative experience we have had with Power Home Remodeling Group Salesmen, my husband and I starting receiving mailings from Power Home Remodeling Group advising us that we have been approved for their no-​down payment option on the products and services! We have agreed to a free estimate on a couple of windows, but not to running credit reports on our names! I had to contact TransUnion to stop Power Remodeling Group sending me these solicitation notices and poking around our credit history. What’s next?

decided to upgrade the rating but sticking with the review. i understand the thought behind the presentation but still found it irritating that after multiple pleas to speed it up with having to put my 1 year old child to bed that it seemed to take even longer then.

Just had 2 guys knock on our door and try to make an appointment for tomorrow for someone to come out and talk to us. They made some offensive comments (regarding myself and themselves actually), then tried to make me talk to someone on the phone to schedule the appointment. I was trying to memorize the phone number to later confirm the validity of this business when my sister came back with my dog. I have a husky and he loves newcomers. He howls and pulls to play with people. Thank goodness they got scared and ran off.

Unless you are a millionaire this is not the company for you. We needed a roof, my wife saw their truck in the neighborhood and asked for a free estimate. Biggest mistake of our lives!!! Sales man was nice but like most people have mentioned 4+ hours at my house is just too long to try to sell something to someone especially when the customer says no more than once. Pricing was more than 3x’s the big box stores and almost 4x’s higher than small companies. Stay away, unless you won the lottery of course.

Now that we’ve gone through a winter and a summer with the new windows, I can say that I have seen very little difference in energy efficiency between the older windows in the house and the PHG windows. To be clear, the house is only 13 years old and the original builder-​grade windows are dual-​pane vinyl with reasonable efficiency. I checked the window surfaces with a non-​contact IR thermometer and found less than 2 degrees difference between the new PHG windows and older ones on the same side of the house. There is also no noticeable air leakage around any of them, so no difference on that front. Overall, I would have to say that I just don’t see the value they touted.

Can you say predatory power-​sales? Not only are they more expensive than every other quote we got, but the quote they gave us was «only good for tonight». Hahahahahaha!
They were so aggressive with their sales pitch we had to ask them to leave after several hours of saying politely that we weren’t interested. That was 3 days ago…
They just called us to try and set up another appointment and when we said we were not interested the guy hung up on us. LOL… seriously, how are businesses like this still making money?

This company harasses people. They come to our door once a week after and give their pitch. The first time I gave them my number (biggest mistake ever) because our house does need some work but we were not ready to make a commitment. Since then they have called me hundreds of times during the work day and after 8 pm. They just called again and I answered to hear nothing on the other end. I said hello 3 times and then heard a bunch of laughing. I wish this company would stop calling me and stop knocking on my door especially if they are going to laugh and joke. We will be replacing our siding but will not being using them!

AVOID. This company must pay people to write reviews for it on google because it baffles me as to how they have so many «rave reviews’ on there but it looks like here on Unilocal is much more in line with the truth. I’ve had 2 terrible experiences with this company that I’ll detail below.
First warning sign: this company hires teenagers to go around neighborhoods and harass people for their contact information for a «free no-​hassle estimate». These kids are relentless and wouldn’t go away until I gave them my phone number. (my work number which I forwarded to my personal number). They told me the estimator would be out the following day & had me talk to some lady to schedule a 11AM slot. I figured I’d entertain the estimate at least since I was considering getting new siding and windows.
Well, the next day came around, phone properly forwarding and they never called once. I waited until ~noon and no one showed up either so I guess they don’t want my business. But the worst is yet to come!
They CONTINUALLY call my work number giving me a spiel about «oh we have an estimator in your neighborhood this weekend what time can he come by?». I told the guy they blew it and didn’t come to the appointment that they scheduled and he got snippy and told me «we always call, your phone must have been turned off». I told him «i don’t know what to tell you but you guys missed the appointment’ He hung up. Nice service right? Funny thing is I received a call from the same number the following day so I might have to blacklist it on my phone if it continues.
I previously gave this company my real cell phone number a couple years back and they would always call me at 7PM on the dot every weekday for at least 2 months straight & would leave me a voicemail. I can’t answer since I can’t bring my phone into work but they would ALWAYS leave a pre-​recorded voicemail.
I can’t speak for the work they do to houses but why would you want to do business with a company that utilizes these terrible tactics? This company is full of lies and uses pressure tactics to secure «estimates» and sales. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.
Oh and PHR, please stop calling my work number, thanks!

This review is also specific to their sales approach, as there is no way I am going to use these guys to actually do the work.
I was out mowing the lawn last weekend when a young man stopped me and said they were doing work in the area and would be happy to do a free estimate. I do plan on getting new siding in the near future so I agreed.
Appointment was set up for 5 PM on a Monday. A young man showed up around 5:30. Nice guy, but way over-​the-​top. Everything was «awesome», and he spent way too much time asking personal questions before getting to the task at hand.
After a 20 minute slideshow presentation he went out to take some measurements. Then came in with samples where he insisted I choose a color. What does the color have to do with the estimate? Next came some BS about how their competitors prices would probably be, and then finally with a drumroll (literally) he delivered a price estimate of $ 29,000 for about 2300 sq. ft. of siding. What?!? they may have top-​of-​the-​line materials, but there is no way This job should cost more than $ 10,000.
I said thank you and asked him to leave, Then he goes into his sales pitch about signing a contract today to get 25% off and their marketing scheme of another $ 2000 off to take pictures during the installation. So they’re acting like a $ 19,000 estimate is such a deal because it’s $ 10,000 less then their $ 29,000 estimate. But it is still twice as much as anyone should be paying!
After about two hours the guy finally left, and he took the written estimate with him as he packed up. He left a business card with the $ 29,000 estimate on it. Not sure what that is about, but it doesn’t even matter as that was a total waste of my time.
I think these guys feed on people who either have more money than they know what to do with, or succumb to a high-​pressure sales pitch. Even if you use the best materials and do the best work, if your sales pitch is so contrived and your price is so outrageous, I am not even going to think twice about you.

Expect for a long sales pitch (7 hours for me), and a «friends and family» «discount» if you aren’t sold on their overpriced product. Waiting that long to hear they want over $ 60K for 2 floors of vinyl siding is laughable.
The sales guy was awesome. He was a really nice kid. Unfortunately, by the time I was given the old line for a «tonight only, friends and family» price, it was almost 2am. I made a bad decision and proceeded with an order without checking into claims first. Oops! Bad decision on my part! I already called at 10am this morning (technically 7 hours after signing) to cancel. I was told my wife and I would also have to be present. When they answered, they had my info ready from their caller ID. Cancelation is scheduled for 5 days from now. I called a second time at 2:45pm to move the cancelation even sooner, and I already started getting a bad feeling about it. They wanted all my contact info again, address included. When questioned why it was so different than the last call (caller ID), the lady told me things must have changed. I have a feeling this is not going to be fun with these people. I’ll update if I need to proceed to legal proceedings regarding this.

Just had a ick-​inducing experience with this company’s salespeople. I was sucked into talking to the door-​to-​door salesmen that were really aggressive in asking all these personal questions about me and my family, while not also providing even a business card for us to contact them. I asked and asked and asked buy they wanted someone to come by and leave a brochure later (who never returned). Who goes door to door but doesn’t have business cards?!
I knew I needed an estimate anyway, just as a bargaining chip, so I agreed to have them come by. When I confirmed my appointment, they kept pressuring me to make sure that both home-​owners were present, otherwise they wanted to come by another time. They kept pressuring to make sure we would be present. Why are you so concerned about when I’m going to be home?!
The information given to me by different people at the company didn’t match. For example, one guy said they only use one type of product, while another said they have many types… of course rushing past this inaccuracy I found, he wanted to know «will you and your spouse be home tomorrow evening?»
I kept feeling like they were either going to case our house to rob us, or sell information about us online to identify thieves. It was so invasive and frustrating. The guy on the phone was even asking about my credit.
For the sales reps who visited me: please note I have a very robust security system. Do not return to my home.

Scheduling guy knocked on my door at 12:30 pm today, said they had people coming out doing free siding estimates in my area today and next Saturday. I said today was fine as it’s raining and not much else going on. The appointment was scheduled for 1:30 pm. At 1 pm the office called to say the sales guy/​estimator hit traffic and would be delayed until 1:45−2 pm. I asked them to call me if there was any further delays as I hadn’t eaten lunch and since the appointment would take about an hour, I didn’t want to eat lunch at dinner time. At 1:50 pm, I get another call saying they needed to bump my appointment until 2:30 pm. I told them to cancel the appointment and to not bother rescheduling.
Glad I did, reading the reviews here. Not sure how they have an A+ BBB rating or Google 5 star, must be old.
If you can’t make an initial appointment — that doesn’t bode well for later quality or follow through.

I probably should have gone to Unilocal first, but these apple cheeked kids came to my house saying they were «in the neighborhood» and it was cold. So I let them come in and got signed up for a free estimate.
Guys, the problem with living in NOVA is that everyone thinks you have more money than sense. I’m sititng at the table while he’s going through his spiel and doublechecking his assertions for windows and costs using the internet.
Dude, it does not cost 15 dollars a foot for gutters and downspouts. Cost estimate with my BJs account and same day stuff: 7500 dollars for gutters. Wow. I don’t even.
How about 15 windows? What am I bid? Oh 13 Grand? Oh what is that per window? 860 bucks? WHAT A DEAL. Except if you do even a cursory internet search you’d find that top end stuff should be around 500 – 700 dollarydoos INSTALLED. It just makes me sad.
But I can’t help but antagonize since my entire morning has been wasted.

So of course I showed him several websites where that is indeed possible. He just got pissy and I asked him to leave, citing that I’m not interested in getting into a pissing match with him.
Sigh. More salesmanship and a bit more understanding of how the world works and maybe we could have done a deal. But I will be advising my friends and colleagues to stay far away from «The Best Windows Guys in the Business»

Door-​to-​door contractors are like neon warning signs: the rule of thumb is do NOT do business with any contractor who seeks clients by going door-​to-​door. I’m particularly wary when the sales people start telling me, «we happened to be in the neighborhood, working with folks (way far down my street) down there… and thought we’d stop by.»
A pair of this company’s sales force rang my doorbell with a high-​pressure pitch to do an estimate of work on my house. «Is Tuesday better, or Wednesday?» WTF?
Reputable contractors do NOT go door-​to-​door. They simply do NOT. I’m fine with the kids coming door-​to-​door (hopefully accompanied by a parent on the sidewalk) to sell bric-​à-​brac as a fundraiser for the local school group; everyone else: BUZZ OFF, especially these folks.
Too bad Unilocal doesn’t have a ZERO-​star rating.

We signed up for a «free estimate» over a year ago. What we didn’t know is that the «free estimate» was actually a TWO HOUR sales pitch. The guy took 20 minutes in the beginning asking us personal questions and sharing positive (but totally irrelevant) qualities about himself, like that he coaches a softball team. It only went downhill from there, as the pitch went on and on. Basically they’re selling premium windows at 2 – 3 times the price of decent normal windows you can get from other contractors. They use high pressure sales tactics, because they’re afraid you’ll compare them to anyone else and realize they’re overpriced.
If that experience were all, I wouldn’t bother writing this negative review. But these people keep going through our neighborhood once a month, knocking on our door, trying to get us to AGAIN sign up for another «free estimate». This has been going on for over a year now! It’s extremely annoying.

I contracted PHRG to replace my roof. The new roof is beautiful and I do believe the quality of the material and installation are good. The folks that I interacted were all friendly. Longer term warranty from a more established company is also a big plus. So why did I still give it 2 stars?
I am not going to repeat too much on the questionable and annoying sales tactics. My only advise is the «same-​day only» pricing scheme can be dangerously and easy to fall for in which I did. Do your home work first on going price before talking to them. You most certainly will pay more with PHRG but as least you can assess the overall value and have something to compare with. I also found the same-​day only price can be negotiated too. In my case it was 15% off after I said NO to the same-​day only price quote. I just wish I have done more homework so I can justify to myself why I needed to pay more.
Please also note the following if you do decide to go with PHRG:
1. False expectations — during sales I was told it would take one day to complete the job and may take a bit more time to finish on the second day. The job took three full days instead. I was told the satellite TV service will not be interrupted and signal may need to adjusted. In reality the service was out for 2 days and I needed to call the satellite guy to come onsite to bring the service back.
2. I was told the crew will do a magnetic sweep after the job and will not leave a single nail behind. In reality they didn’t do a good job and I found nails everywhere after the crew was gone. I called and they came back the next day to do another sweep.
3. During installation you will get a visit from a «quality» manager to make sure the job is done right. In reality it is just another sales pitch from a different sales person for cross sales. In my case it was the gutter.
