Specialties

Neighborhood pub/​restaurant featuring German plates including Wiener Schnitzel and Sauerbraten. Complimented with sauerkraut, red cabbage and potato dumplings of potato pancakes. If German cuisine is not your thing, there also is great steaks featuring an 18oz. Bone-​In Ribeye and seafood with Grilled Salmon and Baked Haddock. Friday night Perch/​Bluegill fry is very popular. Sandwiches feature one of the best Reuben’s in town.

The bar is patterened after a European Pub. Could be in Germany, England and of course Ireland, with one of the best poured pints of Guinness anywhere. Germany, England, Ireland and Belgium represented on tap as well as a seasonal local brew from Hinterland Brewing occasionally. Many other Euro countries are represented by a large bottled beer selection. Former owner Marilyn called it a place where old and new friends meet. Her husband Len said it was the «Cheers» of Green Bay

History

Established in 1952.

Opened around 1952 by Tom Eschelwyck who was born in Germany. He ran it until 1970, when his son David took over for the next decade. in 1980, the Kubiak family took over. Sally Kubiak was Tom’s daughter and she ran it until 1983. August 17th, 1983, Len Hack purchased the business and owned it up to 2004, when his son, David Hack and daughter Lynne Stahl bought it. They are the current owners along with Lynnes daughter Meagan Colombo. Dave has tended bar since 1992 and worked there in some form since 1983. The German recipes were stayed with the business dating back to original owner Tom.

I started working in here in 1983 cleaning on Saturdays when I was 13. At 15 I started washing dishes before moving on to bussing tables. At 20 I started bartending and have been behind the bar since.
