History

Established in 2002.

Owner Karen DeMello began her legal career as a paralegal for a solo attorney, whose subsequent nomination to District Court Magistrate resulted in her employment as a judicial assistant. Eight years of running a family law courtroom led to a position as supervisor of the Family Courts Unit of the Weld County Combined Courts and vast volunteer service to the Greeley community in assisting citizens with easier access to legal services and the Courts. Karen recognized a void in the system for those people who did not need an attorney or legal advice, but needed assistance with the numerous procedural steps necessary to successfully «do it yourself». Thousands of self-represented parties have utilized the many practical services offered by Help Yourself to have their agreements approved, new cases filed, to properly provide and exchange financial information, and to have a personal paralegal walking them through and explaining every step of the judicial process.
