Sensory Seduction Elite Event At Miraku

If the event at Miraku was a sensory seduction, I was certainly seduced and ready to make a naughty decision by the end of the night.
–Excellent venue, dim, sexy, cool large tables low to the ground
–Yummy delicious food
–Surprisingly good sake
–Fun photo ops
–Delicious and delightful people

Another great night hosted once again by Drew. Oh, I also believe Jando and Jane helped out as well. Great job TEAM.
This was our 2^nd Elite Event and I went to both. It seems like the event is getting better and better. I am curious what will Drew plan next?!
Overall, the event was a success, but to top it off the food was AMAZING. The sushi/​sashimi was so fresh and who doesn’t like fresh food.
The sashimi can not go wrong. I love everything on that platter and how the chef décor the plate. I love how everyone busted out there camera phone and start snapping away. It was a beautiful thing to look at and eating it.
I also enjoyed eating the Shrimp Sui Mei… one of my favorite dishes.
With good food is also good DRINKS. The bar area has some great specialty drinks and next to the bar there was SAKI tasting. Think about it… have you done saki tasting? Well, I haven’t. I have done beer tasting and heard of Wine tasting, but now I can say I just did Saki tasting. What a great experience.
I definitely had a great time trying different flavors of saki. I wasn’t able to try all the shots all at once. I had to do it one table at a time haha.
To make the night even more enjoyable (as if it wasn’t fun at all), Lumi8 photobooth. Who doesn’t like taking pictures with all these cool props like: huge glasses, mustache, tie, funky hats and funny signs «GIGGITY GIGGITY» haha that was my favorite sign. I had two signs put together: «he’s so hot» and «Giggity Giggity» haha
Photobooth is a fun thing to do to be GOOFY.

My first LI Elite event and boy was it a good one.
Hats off to Drew who really put together a great event and to Jando and Jane who helped make the night go smoothly.
From wall to wall there were treats galore. The mixed drinks were good and I especially liked the Ginger Margarita. The tables of Sake were a nice addition too. The gentlemen behind them really knew their stuff. It was actually my first time drinking sake. (stop looking at me like that… I like scotch and I never had the urge to drink it before… OK?) I had a few favorites even if I cant pronounce the names of them (That’s why they invented the camera phone)
The food was nothing short of spectacular. From the tasty warm bites they passed around to the seemingly endless supply of sushi and sashimi. It was some of the best sushi I’ve had ever. Fresh like they just pulled it out of the ocean.
Truly a great event. And as I’ve said before, I’m honored to be an Elite and that I get to partake in these great events and hang with some truly amazing people.

First Off — Props to Drew for an astoundingly wonderful success for his 2^nd Unilocal Elite LI Event! Couldn’t have planned it better! And extra hurrahs for stopping by each group and table to make sure we knew what was going on (in terms of food, drinks and entertainment) and that we were having a good time.

This Event was Crazy Awesome Fun!
Miraku is incredible! The restaurant is awesome with its booths which you can leave your shoe’s off on the side. Very comfortable. Everything is clean and tidy. The Bar looks like it is stocked Very well!
Now, onto the food!
— Edamame Falafels!!! With Wasabi Sour Cream!!! My FAV of the night! These lil deep fried suckers will have you running back for more!
— Fuge Age, Fried blowfish. This was good but nothing crazy
— Cheese Steak Maki. Provolone and scallion wrapped in beef. This was my sister’s fav of the night. Yum Yum YuM! Full of flavor and texture!
— Toro Kakuni. This was sweet, warm and delicious, like a fish version of General tso’s but with soy.
«Crystal» Shrimp Shumai. This was good but nothing over the top. Presentation was gorgeous.
Gosh, I think there was more… it was so overwhelming. Miraku had me at the first appetizer. All 3 of us were like, this is Awesome! We HAVE to come back here… it only gets better
Sake Tastings! Ginjo Sake — so light and refreshing! Loved It! Yamahai Junmai was the smoothest sake I’ve ever tasted. Dewazakura was very heavy, thick but good. It was a special edition sake. Nama Genshu — TRY IT! Perfect Snow — unfiltered, it still has some rice in it. If you are Chinese and have had that rice wine porridge, you will LOVE this, it’s just so familiar tasting. Funagucgi — Smooth, unpasturized, it comes in a can for on the go Hahahaha, jk. They also featured another companies sparking sake, I can drink bottles of this stuff! The third table was good too but I didn’t get any literature.
SUSHI!
They had a ton of rolls and sashimi! The one that stuck out the most was the Bollywood roll and the Toro Tartar. Gosh, it just melted in your mouth, and it had that sweet sauce accompanying it, Mmm… We all agreed this was one of, if not thee best, Sushi restaurant’s we’ve ever been to. The fish was so fresh, the food so well prepared.
Omigosh, I didn’t even get to the drinks yet! White Sangria, Fuji Apple, Ginger Margarita, Beers, Green Tea… ALL FOR US! Whoopie! (Yes, we tipped the bar staff!)
Ooh ooh and the LUMI8 photobooth! TOO COOL! They had props, state of the art photobooth, awesome staff… did I mention the props?!? The staff was truly incredible, prepping you for all 4 photos and ready to hand you props as each 10 seconds ticked down. I want one of these for our wedding!!! If you go to the Unilocal page (

Hmm was that it? The mingling, the cheerful chatter, the delicious food and bountiful drinks, the photo’s. ah yes! the Magician! You are never too old to be amused by a Magician, especially one who performs tricks right before your very eyes! This guy was funny, kind and genuinely loved his work. He had all our jaws dropping, and some of us rolling in laughter.
So 9pm rolls around and the party begins to dwindle down but that doesn’t stop us! People are still mingling, still drinking, still laughing. Nights like these should never end.

I had a pretty great time tonight at Miraku. The food was delicious and the ginger margarita was pretty good too. This is my 2^nd elite Unilocal event. My first event was a free kickboxing class with Jane K. at Five Points Academy a few years back. I just came back to New York roughly 2 months ago and this event really energized me to attend other elite events in the future. The people you meet here are just awesome. Everyone is pretty much laid back, friendly, polite, its just a great atmosphere to be in and I finally got to meet Jando, Drew, and Mike B.
Food — Absolutely delicious! I like the fact that the food were served hot. My favorite was the edamame falafel! That was really bangin! It was really unique and had a real nice crunch to it. I have no complaints about the food here. Top to bottom, everything that they served tonight was delightful.
Drinks — There was a sake tasting. They had a few to samples to choose from but only one stood out to me. It was the sake that was in a tin can. That one tasted pretty good in my opinion. There was one that look like milkis (Korean drink made by Lotte) and another that was some yuzu flavor. The yuzu sake tasted too weak and watered down from the ice. There was nothing yuzu about it. The one that looked like milkis, was okay. It was kinda thick, went down pretty smooth. It’s a nice sake to drink after a meal. As for the rest of the sake, I don’t wanna sound mean but it tasted too much like gekkeikan sake that’s why I liked the one that was from the tin can. It was just a different taste from the others.
Drinks @ the bar — Ginger Margarita was a interesting take. It was good but honestly I didn’t taste enough ginger to call it a ginger margarita. The Fuji Apple was decent but too sweet and fruity for my taste. For the most part of the night, I had Kirin beer on draft.
Service — GREAT, the guys kept coming at me and my friend with samples. They were all really friendly. I didn’t like one of the bartenders. He was being a bit of a jerk throughout the night and I really didn’t like his tone when he was talking to me. The other bartender was more playful with the crowd and was full of smiles.
Verdict — Overall, it was a great experience meeting fellow Unilocalers and enjoying some delicious food and drinks. The photo booth experience was quite fun. They had several hats, huge sunglasses, and signs to choose from. There was also a magician that was performing throughout the course of the night. He was really fun and friendly. It was just a really fun experience. I’m looking forward to my next Unilocal event.
