The eye exam and contact fitting went well. I was really impressed with the doctors and their thoroughness. However, that’s where it went down hill…
There’s a lack of communication in the front office when it comes to orders. Got a call 2.5 weeks after my first appointment to tell me my contact trails were ready for pick up. I showed up the same day and there was only a right lens ready. They had me wait in the office for 15 minutes while they scour for the left lens only for them to tell me they couldn’t find it and they’ll have to reorder. I had to call them a week later asking if they got anything in, nothing. Called again a week later, got put on hold for 10 minutes and was finally told they were going to call their Lake Zurich office to see if was there. Was called back 5 minutes later stating that it was in lost in the office this whole time and back tracked saying that it was in a shipment from Lake Zurich.
The second bad experience (because we needed more than one.) my husband’s glasses got scratched up after rough housing with the kids. He was leaving in two weeks on a business trip. He called up to let them know what happened and made an appointment to order replacement lens. A week later got a call to let him the lens ready but when he showed up he was told the person at the first appointment was supposed to take his frames and it was going to take an additional week at the least! He did get his glasses on time but we were left frustrated and ready to take our business somewhere else.

My family has been going to the Grayslake EyeCare center for over 8 years and the way we have recently been treated is unacceptable. We tried to get our rebate, which we have gotten every single year with no problems, but unfortunately Grayslake Eye Care did not deliver. After numerous calls trying to get it figured out Sam was very unhelpful after stating that she would help us, which she didn’t. The manager was very unprofessional when we tried calling to fix this problem, and actually blamed the problem on us, as the paying customers, that we did not do our part. It’s really immature that as the business owner he won’t fix the solution and provide proper customer service. After all these years we will be taking our business elsewhere, because this isn’t the eye care center in the area. I’ll go to a center that actually cares for their customers and is able to assist them and their issues in a friendly and timely manner.

I had a great experience at Grayslake eye care & Associates. The staff knew exactly what they were doing and made the entire process painless and simple. I normally go to American eyewear or the places in the mall nothing really special for eye care, but this time I wanted to try a real eye doctor business. When I first went in there I didn’t know anything about once a day contacts, Dr Troy and Dr. Scott Pouyatt both put me on to the once a day contacts and I ended up buying them for a year supply and I love them. Also Tasha and Chris the associates there were very helpful and knowledgeable as well and even repaired a two-​year-​old bent frame that I had. highly recommend this place, check it out nothing to lose!

I have 2 children who both needed glasses. I called to make an appointment 2 ½ weeks before school started to ensure they would have them for the first day. When I made the appointment I was told I would have the glasses in 7 – 10 days. I called to verify the status and was told that they had to wait until my insurance paid the claim before they could order the glasses which could take up to 30 days. I explained that I was not made aware of that when I called and made the appointment. I was told that’s how they would handle my insurance. They weren’t understanding of my frustration. They made it seem as if I was an inconvenience to their practice and stated «that’s fine if I you don’t want to return.» Dr. Pouyat was extremely polite and informative, although, I cannot say the same for his staff or office manager (Olivia). I don’t even understand how they can bill for glasses that I don’t even have. It seems illegal to bill for a service that hasn’t been provided.

The office is nice… Staff is relatively friendly. Saw Dr. Oliver. The eye exams are short and sweet. Instead of charging $ 20 for dilation, they charge $ 20 to take a picture of the retina. So same thing, without the hassle of not being able to drive for 3 hours. It is nice that they can get glasses back relatively quickly, within a day or two, for uncomplicated prescriptions. The cost was … Eh. $ 75 for a contact exam was not covered by my insurance, but is $ 25 less than Target Optical charges. It was around $ 300 for my exams (glasses, contacts) and frames/​lenses. Not horrible, not super-​affordable.

I definitely recommend Grayslake Eyecare Associates! I hadn’t been to the eye doc for a while and wasn’t sure what to expect. Right when I walked in the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Dr. Troy was great. She walked me through each test and answered any questions I had. She was very knowledgable and great with her explanations. I didn’t feel rushed like you do at some doc appointments even though I know she had a full schedule that day. All in all a great experience and I would recommend to anyone who needs an optometrist.

I have been seeing Dr. Pouyat for years. He is so friendly and always helpful if I have questions. His staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and best of all — he runs on time! My little daughter saw Dr. Oliver last year. She was very good with her and answered all my questions. I can’t imagine going anywhere else for eye care. They are the best!

I had a great experience the Dr. and frame specialist worked in concert to provide the best options for my vision needs. That is as good as it gets as far as I am concerned.

One of the best eye doctors I have been to in a long time. The people at the desk are friendly and knowledgeable about glasses and taking your appointments. Dr P makes you feel comfortable and in no way tries push procedures on you. I have been going there for 4 years and have been very pleased.

Dr Pouyat is as good as it gets. He is very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I completely trust his suggestions. I know that my well being is his priority. He treats our entire family and would refer him to everyone.

We LOVE this place — my whole family is treated here. The frames are great, the docs are very knowledgeable, and the optician staff are friendly and helpful. I really appreciate the advice I’ve been given re: Lasik — my eyes are not really optimal for that surgery, and they have not tried to sell me anything or push any particular direction. I also enjoy having a local business doing well!

Very personable doctors who take great care to make sure they answer all your questions. Love this place.
